Makes for a more pleasant atmosphere for sure. When UF & UM or UM and FSU get together there is almost always a fight or two in the stands, particularly night games when they have all been drinking all day long. Attendance might fall off if they outlawed alcohol in the parking lots, but I think there would definitely be fewer fights. Outlaw alcohol before football games? What are you, some kind of communist? Yep, one of those weird guys who goes to the games for the game.

I wouldn't waste my draft pick on him no matter has fast he runs his 40 yard dash - He was an underperformer and selfish his entire career at UF. He not only had a marketing agent issue, he also didn't play in the bowl game against Michigan which I think was his decision not to play. He missed FSU, played like a chippy thug against bama, and then chose not to risk injury against Michigan. This from SEC Country:
INDIANAPOLIS — When Demarcus Robinson reflects on his career at the University of Florida, he isn’t afraid to call himself selfish.
Before his second year as a Gator, Robinson failed three drug tests for marijuana, which led to three suspensions. Robinson, now at the NFL combine preparing for a professional career, wants teams to know he’s a changed man.
“I know I have made mistakes and I’ve learned from my mistakes,” Robinson told a group of reporters in Indianapolis. “It’s just about telling the truth and getting it out all in the open now. I’m not the same person I was three years ago.”
Robinson spent 45 days at Florida Recovery Center to combat his drug addiction. He admits that those 45 days were difficult but worth it in the end.
“I just had to let my teammates and coaches know that I wasn’t going to do this again,” Robinson said. “I was doing everything I could to let them know that that wasn’t me. What I was doing was selfish and really wrong of me, so I had to show them that I really wanted to be on the team.”
Various NFL Draft experts have said Robinson has first-round talent, but all of the off-field concerns hurt his stock. Almost every single team he’s met with this week has started the conversation asking about his suspensions.
“They have been asking me how I think I’ll do in the NFL with the four suspensions I have had — three of them my freshman year,” he said. “I haven’t failed a drug test since then.”
His fourth suspension, which happened his final season at Florida, came after he met with a marketing representative who “offered me something that I had never been offered before.” His teammates ultimately allowed him back on the team after a vote.
The 6-foot-1, 203-pounder believes the drug suspensions kept on coming throughout his career because he admits that it wasn’t a focus of his to turn his life around. Now that he’s here for the biggest job interview of his life, Robinson is ready to put his past where it belongs.
“Coming out and telling the truth was easy,” he said.
Robinson is hoping to run his 40-yard dash in the 4.3 range, which would make him one of the most sought-after receiver prospects in the draft.

This could be interesting to keep a watch on since UF didn't sign a DT in the 16 class - Jachai Polite will likely grow into a DT, but that could take up to 2 years. This 6'5"/285 recruit is graduating after one year in JUCO so he has 4 years to play 3. UF training and conditioning will have him at 300 in no time. The only question will be is he good enough to come in June and help with the Bullard role in his first season. If it's any indication, he has an awfully good offer and potential visit list:
Written by Andrew Spivey, February 29, 2016
When National Signing Day was over with earlier this month, it looked like the Florida Gators recruiting class of 2016 was finished, but not so fast.
Jim McElwain and his coaching staff are still looking for more pieces to add to the team and they offered one last week.
Defensive tackle Josiah Coatney (6-5, 285, Goodman, MS Holmes C.C) has been talking to the Gators as of late and received the offer late last week.
“Coach [Randy] Shannon offered me last Thursday,” Coatney said. “He was saying that he needs me in the program because they didn’t sign any defensive tackles in this class. They said they would like to get me in and bring me into the program as a defensive tackle.”
Shannon made sure to tell Coatney that he would be used in different positions on the line, much like Florida did with Jonathan Bullard.
“He said that I’m interchangeable on the defensive line and that he just wants me to join BDN [best defensive in the nation],” he said. “He told me that I can play 3-technique and 5-technique because of my body frame. He said that I would have a chance to play early on the line too.”
Coatney hasn’t met any of the Gators coaches yet but he’s been talking to several of them, including defensive line coach Chris Rumph.
“I’ve been talking to Coach [Chris] Rumph all weekend and some last week,” Coatney said. “He has been telling me that I could be a great addition to the team and if I’m ready to play this year then I’ll play. He said that he just wants me to get down there as soon as possible and see everything.”
The defensive tackle is originally from Georgia, so he knows a few things about the Florida Gators program.
“They always have a good defense, the offense wasn’t that good this year because of the quarterback situation though,” he said. “I like how the defense is always flying around the football and creating turnovers. They just do the little things that defenses should do and they’re usually a good football team.”
Coatney does have a familiar face in Gainesville as one of his JUCO teammates is at Florida and that helps the Gators out.
“We’re in the process now of scheduling of visit to Florida,” Coatney said. “I have a lot of interest in Florida and my old teammate Dre [Massey] goes there and he likes it a lot. I just want to get a feel of the school and talk to the players and coaches.”
The JUCO prospect has more eligibility remaining then most prospects as he just arrived in JUCO this past year.
“I’m going to graduate in May and enroll in school in June,” he said. “I have four years to play three wherever I go to school at. I still have my redshirt year available to me.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Coatney says that he plans to take official visits to Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and Ole Miss but only the South Carolina visit is set up right now. The defensive tackle says he has been talking to Dre Massey a lot about Florida and also is developing a relationship with Chris Rumph.

Just read that Harris and Calloway aren't with the team and will miss at least the start of spring practice.
What's the scoop, ET?
Far be it from me to spread a rumor, but on the FSU boards back around the end of last year, there was something about some major legal trouble concerning those two specific players. Seems coincidental now.
Just curious of you'd heard anything.

Florida quarterback Treon Harris and wide receiver Antonio Callaway have been suspended indefinitely and will not participate in spring practice, UF coach Jim McElwain announced Tuesday.
"Guys, we're without a couple of guys who haven't been with our team since January in Treon and Antonio,” McElwain said in a news conference the day before the start of spring practice. “They're still doing some school work and that kind of stuff. But they haven't been with us since January and they won't be with us as we're rolling, so you won't see those guys out there at practice. Guys, that'll be the last that we talk about that.”
McElwain would not disclose why Harris and Callaway were suspended or offer a timeline for their possible return.
“That was the last we talk about it,” said McElwain when asked why the two were suspended. “Thanks, though, appreciate it. I like the effort. … You know what, I am excited about all of those guys that are going to be here as we move forward to spring practice. That will be what we talk about.”
It is unclear whether Harris and Callaway are being punished by the university or the football team.
According to Gainesville Police, University Police and court records, Harris and Callaway are not under investigation for any possible criminal activity.
The two could be under investigation by the school’s Student Conduct Committee for a possible code of conduct violation, but those records are confidential under the state’s student privacy laws.
Even though Harris and Callaway have not been on campus since January, both remain enrolled at UF.

Fair enough...I guess it could be academics. But there is a lot of stuff out there about it being a criminal issue, and a major one. I guess it'll play out. I agree that Harris isn't a big loss, but Callaway would be huge considering you guys are short playmakers right now, and he's your best one.

I don't have a clue who can play Callaway's position anywhere in the neighborhood as good as he would do. I hope we'll get some leaks after spring practice starts tomorrow.

It has been reported that Luke Del Rio was granted an extra year of eligibility. He'll be competing as a redshirt sophomore in 16:
QB assessment and spring competition from Gatorzone:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The quote is attributed to former NFL quarterback Ron Jaworski, perhaps best-known today as an NFL analyst for ESPN.
But before Jaworski discarded his helmet for a TV earpiece, he was a pretty good quarterback who led the Eagles to the Super Bowl during the 1980 season.
Jaworski once summed up football's most important player this way:
"The heartbeat of a football team is the quarterback position and I think everyone who has any intelligence about the game understands you must have consistency at that position to be a championship team."
Regardless of what you think of his TV work, Jaws is spot on in his analysis of the quarterback.
Which brings us to the Gators as they enter spring practice with a familiar predicament. Who is going to play quarterback?
A year ago in Coach Jim McElwain's first spring camp at Florida, the competition was between sophomore Treon Harris and redshirt freshman Will Grier. The competition carried over to preseason camp and while Harris started the season opener, Grier ultimately won the job.
QUARTERBACK TURNOVER
Player Year Signed Outcome Jordan Reed 2009 Moved to tight end and played sparingly at QB; now an NFL tight end with Redskins Trey Burton 2010 Used mostly at running back and receiver at UF; has made mark in NFL on special teams Tyler Murphy 2010 Started six games for Gators in 2013; transferred to Boston College for final season Jeff Driskel 2011 Led Gators to 11-2 record in 2012; transferred to Louisiana Tech after 2014 season Jacoby Brissett 2011 First true freshman QB to make his debut as starter in 2011; transferred to N.C. State in 2012 Skyler Mornhinweg 2012 Started three games in 2013; transferred to Columbia of Ivy League and started in 2015 Max Staver 2013 Never played at UF; Transferred to Tyler (Texas) JC, then Houston Baptist University Will Grier 2014 Redshirted in 2014 and led Gators to 5-0 record as 2015 starter; suspended and transferred Treon Harris 2014 Has started 14 games past two seasons but is currently not with team this spring Josh Grady 2015 Served as an emergency option in 2015, his only season at UF after transferring from Vanderbilt Luke Del Rio 2015 Early front-runner in spring camp after transferring from Oregon State and sitting out 2015 Feleipe Franks 2016 One of 12 early enrollees who arrived at UF in January; Gators flipped him from LSU Kyle Trask 2016 Also an early enrollee who recently joined program; played at Manvel (Texas) High Austin Appleby 2016 A graduate transfer from Purdue who has one year of eligibility left; has 11 career starts
Grier is no longer at Florida and is currently exploring his transfer options. Harris hasn't been with the team since January and his future with the Gators is uncertain.
So, once again, the Gators have a quarterback competition entering spring practice.
However, unlike a season ago when a lack of depth at the position limited McElwain's options, the position is deeper in 2016.
"That was the thing that hurt us last year,'' McElwain said.
Redshirt sophomore Luke Del Rio, fifth-year senior Austin Appleby, and true freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask will compete this spring to sort out roles and provide a foundation at the position heading into fall camp.
Del Rio has the early edge. A transfer from Oregon State who has three years of eligibility remaining, Del Rio sat out last season due to NCAA rules. Still, he gained valuable experience in meetings and through studying the playbook installed by offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.
"He's been here obviously and been learning,'' McElwain said Tuesday. "He and Austin have done an outstanding job together with those two young guys."
Since Florida won its last national championship in 2008, the quarterback position has been anything but consistent except in 2009, Tim Tebow's final season at UF.
The Gators are 47-31 since the start of the 2010 season when John Brantley took over for Tebow, which includes an SEC East championship and 10-4 record in McElwain's first season.
While Grier showed potential to be the answer, in the end it was only false hope for Florida fans. In some ways it's back to square one.
Let the competition begin:
***** LUKE DEL RIO
Pros: Has been a member of the program the longest and has a strong knowledge of the offensive scheme ... Has shown good leadership qualities and work ethic ... Son of NFL head coach Jack Del Rio, so he grew up around the game and understands its complexities. Cons: Has been unable to find a home since high school, first at Alabama and then Oregon State ... Is the shortest player in the competition at 6-foot-1 ... Has thrown only 18 passes in college career, completing eight for 141 yards in 2014 at Oregon State.
***** AUSTIN APPLEBY
Pros: Most experience among the group ... Played in 17 games and started 11 at Purdue ... Has good size to run a pro-style offense at 6-4, 238 pounds ... Threw for a career-high 332 yards in final start for Purdue against Indiana ... Has nine 200-yard passing games in career. Cons: Has only one season of eligibility remaining ... Threw for same number of interceptions (19) at Purdue as touchdown passes ... Must learn the offense quickly and establish his presence within the team.
***** FELEIPE FRANKS
Pros: Has excellent size (6-6, 214) and athleticism for the position ... Was a very accurate passer on deep throws and underneath routes in high school ... Is elusive and showed the kind of skills in high school that drew interest from many of the top programs around the country. Cons: New to the program and still has much to learn ... Has a lanky frame and needs to add weight to withstand the physical nature of the college game.
***** KYLE TRASK
Pros: Good size for a first-year player (6-4, 230) who many consider a potential sleeper ... Has showcased a powerful arm that should get stronger as he develops ... Took most of his snaps in high school from the shotgun and made a variety of throws. Cons: Same as Franks in that he is new to the program and has a lot to learn ... Relatively inexperienced compared to Franks because he was a backup in the offensive system his high school ran ... Not a huge running threat.

I'm thinking he'll play at 6'2"/240 instead of 245. He has size, speed, plus he can catch the ball out of the backfield. We'll see when they put the pads on, but I suspect he'll be a great addition to the Gators. This from SEC Country:
Florida junior college transfer running back Mark Thompson figures to play a role in the Gators’ backfield this season. How effective he will be remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain, he is big.
“That’s an SEC back right there,” Florida coach Jim McElwain said Thursday. “He looks the part. Now we’ll find out when we get pads on. I did even notice today when he was hitting a couple inside zones and hitting a cutback, the guy that was kind of coming down questioned (himself) a little bit. He could see a little bigger body there.”
At 6-foot-2, 245 pounds, Thompson certainly presents a daunting task for would-be tacklers. It is rare to see running backs that size, but one of Thompson’s teammates, linebacker Jarrad Davis, brought up a familiar name when asked if he could think of any runners with a similar stature.
“Maybe one, Derrick Henry,” Davis said. “Mark Thompson, I like the way he carries himself around the building. … That guy, I feel like he’s going to be special. I’m really excited to see what he’s going to do.”
Last season’s Heisman Trophy winner is a good player to be compared to. Henry is listed on the Alabama website at 6-foot-3, 242 pounds. The former Crimson Tide back routinely used his size to trample opposing defenders on his way to 2,219 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns.
This is not to say Thompson is the next Derrick Henry, but if he is anything close, McElwain and the Gators will certainly be pleased.

Yeah, I read that too. I'd be very happy if Luke and Austin Appleby can take the starter and backup roles allowing UF to redshirt both freshmen QBs.
It was also reported that the NCAA has allowed Luke an extra year of eligibility. He'll be competing as a redshirt sophomore. I hope he can take advantage of his increased opportunities.

Far be it from me to spread a rumor, but on the FSU boards back around the end of last year, there was something about some major legal trouble concerning those two specific players. Seems coincidental now. Just curious of you'd heard anything. Well, apparently something went on as Antonio Callaway has Huntley Johnson as his attorney. Johnson is calling on UF to reinstate Callaway. This from SEC Country:
www.seccountry.com/florida/antonio-callaways-attorney-is-calling-for-florida-wrs-reinstatement
Florida coach Jim McElwain announced Antonio Callaway wouldn’t be practicing with the team this spring, but the suspended receiver’s attorney believes the punishment is unjust.
While neither McElwain nor Florida has announced what led to the decision, Callaway’s attorney Huntley Johnson claims it was due to a violation of the school’s Student Code of Conduct, according to Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel.
“There is no good reason why this investigation has not been closed,” Johnson wrote, although he too didn’t provide details of the violation. “This allegation has no merit.”
Callaway set a Florida freshman record with a team-leading 678 receiving yards. He also added four receiving touchdowns and a pair of punt return touchdowns, including one in the SEC Championship against Alabama.
Florida is also without quarterback Treon Harris, who was similarly suspended without McElwain or UF providing further details. It is unknown yet if the suspensions are related.

Travaris Dorsey (OL) and Austin Hardin (PK) are transferring out of UF. Neither will be missed, especially Hardin.
Raphael Andrades (WR) transferred out of UF last January. He has done zip and won't be missed either.
I'm expecting a couple of more Muschump guys to transfer between now and summer. They won't be missed either.
Jeremy Foley really does need to relent on not oversigning as of NSD in February. It looks like UF will be playing with a ship roster of about 79 or 80 after the spring transfers. Hopefully, Mac can pick up a late signing player or get another graduate senior transfer like he did last year.
