FSU 38 UF 22 - the Gators offense and QB Feleipe Franks gave the game away.
So ends a season lost on August 13 with the 9 suspensions.
It's Heaven To Be A 4&7er!

You also lost the Chip Kelly sweepstakes. Frost is good, but he probably won't end up in Gainesville, either. I TRULY hope the Gators end up with a really good coach. It's not good for the SEC when UF is down.

It's not good for the SEC when UF is down.I fault UF AD Scott Stricklin for not locking up Chip Kelly weeks ago before UCLA came open and have said so. Scott Frost is no better to me than Mike Norvell at Memphis. I guess 6 of one is half a dozen of the other. Matt Campbell at Iowa State has been mentioned, but I'm not buying it. Dan Mullen has been mentioned, but I'm not buying it. Charlie Strong has been mentioned. I'm okay with that as long as Steve Spurrier agrees to be his OC. Bottom line, after striking out with Kelly thanks to Stricklin dragging his ass, I don't know who would be better than McElwain whom UF made it impossible for him to succeed and basically ran him off. I'm looking forward to the day when Stricklin is shown the door because he didn't have a homerun hire and how he handled the McElwain situation. It's not good to be a UF football fan now and maybe for years to come depending on who asshole Stricklin brings in.

We both know Florida is a top notch program and they won't stay down. We've seen teams go from doghouse to penthouse in only 2 years, so it CAN happen.

Sorry Gator, but when you have 9 suspensions you also have to look at the quality of the recruits you brought in. Kids will be stupid, 1 or 2 getting caught with their hand in the cookie jar is bad, but 9!!!! That doesn't say much for their character. Hope you get a good coach and the Gators will be back in contention before long.

UF gave into McElwain's (immediate) demands to upgrade the facilities, all of the players suspended were McElwain's recruits, McElwain told the best QB on his roster to find a fresh start somewhere else, he banned the media from any and all booster functions then he got caught lying about supposed death threats yet it was the school that made it impossible for him to succeed?
LOL, that's rich.

Do have to wonder what has happened to QB recruiting at Florida.

Happy wife = happy life - I'll believe Dan Mullen when it's announced. His Mrs. didn't like Gainesville, but how can you not after living in Starkville for 9 years. More importantly, I don't think Mullen enjoyed his time with UF even with his success. He has made plenty of snippy comments about UF over the years, but likely not enough to knock himself out of the running like say Lame Kitten who lied about UF and Meyer and was punished for it. www.seccountry.com/florida/report-florida-is-targeting-mississippi-states-dan-mullen-may-soon-have-answer

Do have to wonder what has happened to QB recruiting at Florida. Telling the kid now starting for Mizzou to go pound sand was a huge mistake by McElwain. He should have promised him he would start out at #1 again, but with the proviso that he would have to keep it in practice. I have zero doubt he would have won the job in practice. UF has a top notch QB in the 18 class presuming we can keep him with all of the crapola going on with our coaches. Two recruits decommitted this week. There will be more if this situation drags on any longer. Actually, I'm amazed most of the recruits are waiting to see who UF hires.

No surprise at all on Scott Frost. JMHO, he won't have the success at UNL that he could have had a UF, but mama calls and you go. Dan Mullen makes sense on many levels as he has SEC experience, an offensive background, a history of developing QBs - Dak Prescott/Scott Fitzgerald, and ties to UF AD Scott Stricklin. My only concern is about him and his wife being happy in Gainesville.

FWIW, just saw on Twitter that Scott told UF no this morning and that they expect to announce Mullen sometime today. No surprise at all on Scott Frost. My only concern is about him and his wife being happy in Gainesville. He interviewed at Miami when we hired Golden and evidently pissed off just about everyone he came into contact with. Never met the man but reports were that he was extremely abrasive and arrogant. Should fit in fine in Gainesville. <g> God knows you need someone who can coach a quarterback.

Mullen to UF will surprise me, but he will develop a good offense with all the good players he can keep at home. Meanwhile, down south Richt will compete for those same in-state players. The Ole Miss sanctions should be announced in the next couple of weeks, and I would go after their QB if the NCAA allows those players to transfer without having to sit a year.
