It's official - Gators finish 2nd in Director's Cup: www.gatorsports.com/article/20130627/ARTICLES/130629681?tc=crFlorida is the only program to finish among the nation's top 10 in each of the last 30 national all-sports standings. The Gator program also was second in 2011-12 and 2009-10 and tied for second in 1997-98. Sooners 7th....I'll take it.

For those who ordered UF season tickets for football, here is some news:
I called up the UF Ticket Office a few minutes ago to inquire when the 2013 season tickets are due to be sent out.
Last year, the tickets were rather late....the packets didn't show up till about a week or so prior to the 1st game of the season.
Well, this year, the tickets are supposed to be sent out from the printer (located in Arkansas) around the 2nd week of July. If they are able to meet that timeline, then they should show up in a far more timely manner than they did last year.
So says the phone rep I spoke to at the Gator Ticket Office.
We shall see....hopefully they will be able to manage to keep on schedule this time around.

If they don't get the tickets out on time, we may have to move Jeremy back to the ticket office to get it straightened out.

Great news on Antonio Morrison - I hope he isn't charged with murder after he turns pro and is making $40 million because he got a break to stay clean - I say running steps on top of his punishment is enough:

Florida sophomore middle linebacker Antonio Morrison has been given deferred prosecution on his charge of misdemeanor battery stemming from his June 16 arrest for punching a bouncer outside a Gainesville bar.
As part of his agreement with the State Attorney's Office, Morrison must pay a prosecution fee of $100 and donate $150 to CDS Family and Behavioral Health Services or perform 12 hours of community service.
Morrison also must attend a drug and alcohol abuse program at UF, attend an anger management program and take part in two eight-hour ride-alongs with UF police.
Morrison must fulfill the terms of the agreement in six months. If he does, his record will be clean.
Morrison, the projected starting middle linebacker, also could be facing further disciplinary action from UF and coach Will Muschamp, including a possible suspension from the first game of the season.

Grant Van Aman, redshirt freshman walkon punter, kicked off team by Muschamp after he was arrested for riding his motor scooter while intoxicated....about 2:30am, ran a stop sign, pulled over by GPD, remains locked up in the hoosegow. I hope summer goes by without any further extra-curricular hassles by UF athletes. - David ( maybe the staff can distract them with video games to keep them off the streets ) PwrMc

Except for Morrison whom I suspect will miss the Toledo game, it's been a quiet offseason. I hope that translates to commitment to success on the field.

I would rather have Jeff staying in Gainesville preparing for his senior season rather than playing minor league baseball next year:
Dad confirms Driskel's signing

Florida starting quarterback Jeff Driskel may not be done with baseball after all.
A two-sport athlete in high school at Oviedo Hagerty, Driskel was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 29th round of the MLB Draft last month.
Shortly after the surprising selection, former UF baseball player Brian Johnson asked him on Twitter if he planned to sign with the club. Driskel replied, “no sir lol.”
But Boston signed the junior on Wednesday according to Alex Speier of WEEI.com. Driskel's father, Jerry, confirmed the report with Dieter Kurtenbach of the Sun Sentinel and said his son will continue playing for the Gators.
Driskel is not the first Florida football player to sign with an MLB team while still in school. Former receiver Riley Cooper (2006-2009) signed with the Texas Rangers during the summer of 2009 but returned for his senior season that fall, while former quarterback Doug Johnson (1996-1999) was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays as a freshman and played two summers of minor league baseball for the organization before completing his college football career.
Driskel can remain NCAA eligible and on scholarship at UF as long as the money and/or benefits he receives from the Red Sox are baseball-specific and he doesn't sign any commercial endorsement deals.

Donovan's U.S. team moves to medal round By Kevin Brockway Staff writer

Team USA faced its toughest test yet, but still survived in the FIBA 19-under world championships.
The Billy Donovan-coached 19-under team knocked off Serbia 71-62 to improve to 6-0 in the tournament. With the win, Team USA moves on to the medal round, where it will face Canada on Friday in the quarterfinals.
Florida rising sophomore guard Michael Frazier II played just the final 1:37 of the half off the bench for Team USA and did not score. Frazier is shooting 22.2 percent (8 of 36) from 3-point range in the tournament.

He's just grabbing the cash while he can. Shouldn't effect him this season. Riley Cooper did the same.
