So be of good cheer! We haven't hit bottom. Not even CLOSE... The true character of a coach is not how he reacts after a win but how he responds after a loss. Muschamp has the opportunity to prove that he can not only motivate the team to get back on the same page but coach them up enough to save what could otherwise be a disastrous season. It is his job to fix the leaks. It is why he is being paid the big money. He has to improve the product on the field and ensure the locker room does not turn sour. Muschamp has openly admitted that this is not a good football team right now. He has to keep the belief of his players, because if he does not, the losses will begin to pile up and an over-.500 season will be in serious doubt. No matter how safe Jeremy Foley said Muschamp’s job is after his team was beaten down by Missouri, more losses compounded by increasing fan discontent (and subsequent waning attendance) could force his hand otherwise.

Very aware that UF has Cook at running back. And if he flips he may stay at running back. That doesn't change the fact that his coaches have said if he played corner full time he would be the highest rated corner in the country. Kid is a marvelous athlete. Getting him, Sony and Yearby in one program would be an excess and that would definitely open up the prospects of moving him to corner. Especially at Miami where we already have Duke, Dallas and Gus in the fold and Brandon Powell committed as well. I love this if business. Dalvin Cook is taking visits and enjoying the recruiting process. I'd give FSU and Miami each a 5% chance of flipping while giving UF a 90% chance of retaining his commitment. I'm only giving that much chance to FSU and Miami because they are interested instate schools. If Dalvin gets to UF and wants to play CB instead of RB, I'm sure Muschamp would accommodate him or even let him play both ways. Loucheiz Purifoy has been allowed to play both ways CB and WR, this season. Purifoy is a three way player playing CB, WR, and special teams. LOL!!! ET, love ya buddy, but it sometimes amazes me how things just fly by over your head and you never seem to notice.

I was never good with poetry either as poets hardly ever mean what they write.

3 1/2+ season of offensive ineptitude broken down. This MUST be Will Muschamp's #1 priority to fix between now and the 2014 season. No excuses, get it done:

During hard times like these, when the yards, first downs and points are difficult to come by and the losses are accumulating, coaches and athletic directors tend to urge the fan base to be patient, saying that everything will be OK.
Facts
Saturday's game
Who: UF (4-3, 3-2 SEC) vs. Georgia (4-3, 3-2) When: 3:30 p.m. TV: CBS Radio: WRUF Where: EverBank Field, Jacksonville
But in the case of Florida's slumping offense, it may not be realistic to ask for more patience from the fans. Because this slump the Gators are mired in has not been for just a few games or a few months, it is now deep into its fourth consecutive season.
The Florida offense has been erratic, sporadic and one of the most inefficient and ineffective in college football over the past four years. The Gators have been missing more than they've been hitting since the Tim Tebow era ended with an offensive explosion (51 points, 482 yards passing, 659 total yards) in the 2010 Sugar Bowl victory over Cincinnati.
The UF offense has not had a performance even close to that one since.
Here are some of the grim facts and figures covering the three-plus seasons of offensive struggles:
■ The Gators have been held to single digits in scoring in seven games.
■ There has been only one 300-yard passing game, that coming against Furman in 2011.
■ There have been 28 games where the Gators have thrown for less than 200 yards.
■ The Gators have had only 16 games where they produced 400 or more total yards.
■ UF's most productive offense over the past four years was Steve Addazio's 2010 group, which finished the season ranked 88th in the nation in total offense.
In the two-plus seasons under Will Muschamp, the offensive numbers are even more startling.
Here are some of the facts and figures under Muschamp:
■ UF has been held to single-digit points in four games.
■ The offense has passed for less than 200 yards in 22 games.
■ The Gators have produced 400 yards or more in only 11 games.
■ UF had three consecutive games with less than 100 passing yards during the 2012 season.
■ This year's team ranks 106th in the nation in total offense. The Gators finished 104th last season and 105th in 2011.
Overall, in the past four seasons, the Gators have been close to inept at times in the passing game and have struggled sustaining drives and scoring points.
Here's a season-by-season look at the UF offense
2010
Points per game: 29.8 (43rd in the nation).
Passing yards per game: 184.3 (88th in the nation).
Total offense: 351.2 yards per game (83rd in the nation).
Best offensive performance: 48 points and 547 total yards in a 48-10 win over Appalachian State.
Worst offensive performance: six points, 281 total yards in a 31-3 loss to Alabama.
The skinny: The Gators had five games where they were held to less than 300 total yards and had six games where they threw for less than 200 yards. UF did not have a 300-yard passing game.
2011
Points per game: 25.5 (71st in the nation).
Passing yards per game: 185.7 (88th in the nation).
Total offense: 328.7 yards per game (105th in the nation).
Best offensive performance: 48 points and 520 total yards in a 48-10 victory at Kentucky.
Worst offensive performance: six points and 194 total yards in a 17-6 loss at Auburn.
The skinny: The Gators scored 12 points or less in five games and had six games where they threw for less than 134 yards. UF had one 300-yard passing game (329 against Furman).
2012
Points per game: 26.5 (78th in the nation).
Passing yards per game: 146.3 (118th in the nation).
Total offense: 334.0 yards per game (104th in the nation).
Best offensive performance: 37 points and 555 total yards in a 37-20 victory at Tennessee.
Worst defensive performance: nine points and 266 total yards in a 17-9 loss to Georgia.
The skinny: Even in one of the biggest wins of the season, a 44-11 thumping of South Carolina, the Gators gained only 183 total yards and threw for just 94. UF had three consecutive games with less than 100 passing yards (LSU, Vanderbilt and South Carolina) and gained less than 300 total yards in five games. The Gators had only three games where they produced 400 yards or more of offense.
2013
Points per game: 21.1 (103rd in the nation).
Passing yards per game: 175.4 (109th in the nation).
Total offense: 336.9 yards a game (106th in the nation).
Best offensive performance: 24 points and 415 total yards in a 24-6 win over Toledo.
Worst offensive performance: six points and 240 total yards in a 17-6 loss at LSU.
The skinny: UF has thrown for less than 200 yards in five of seven games and scored 30 points or more only twice. In the 36-17 loss at Missouri last Saturday, the Gators managed only 151 yards of total offense (59 rushing; 92 passing) and 11 first downs, while averaging only 2.5 yards per play.

Of course, you don't hear a word about UGALY wanting to move the game from Jax when they are winning. Let UF win this weekend and the UGALY calls to move the game out of Jax will start up again:
Written by Franz Beard, October 27, 2013
THIS FEELS LIKE THE 1980S ALL OVER AGAIN
It’s Georgia week and somehow I can’t shake the feeling that I’m living in the 1980s all over again. Back in those days, it didn’t matter if Florida had better talent or worse, Vince Dooley was going to find a way to beat the Gators, often under the most bizarre circumstances. The stars and planets aligned properly for the Gators from 1990-2010 as Florida went 18-3 against the hated Poodles (Steve Spurrier 11-1; Ron Zook 2-1; Urban Meyer 5-1) but that was then and this is now. Now the Gators and Will Muschamp have lost two in a row, both in Dooley-like fashion. Muschamp had the Poodles by the throat with a 17-3 lead in 2011 but Mark Richt dialed up a fourth down touchdown pass rather than go for the field goal at the end of the half and the Poodles went on to win, 24-20. Last year, the Gators turned the ball over five times and lost, 17-9. The two teams bring identical 4-3 records into next Saturday’s game. My heart says Florida breaks out of a slump and wins. The sour feeling in the pit of my stomach quotes Yogi Berra: “It’s de ja vu all over again.”

THE STORYLINE • Florida and Georgia are both coming off bye weeks after suffering Southeastern Conference losses on the road on October 19. The Gators lost 36-17 at No. 14 Missouri. The Bulldogs traveled to Nashville and fell to Vanderbilt, 31-27. • For just the second time since 1980, Florida and Georgia both enter the contest unranked in the polls. The only other time it occurred was in 2010, when the Gators won 34-31 in overtime. • The series between Florida and Georgia dates back to 1915 and the Bulldogs hold a 48-40-2 all-time advantage. In Jacksonville, UGA holds a 42-37-1 lead in the series over the Gators. Although Georgia leads the overall series, UF has been dominant in recent history. Since 1990, Florida is 18-5 against UGA, including a 7-3 mark in the last 10 meetings. • There is a discrepancy between the two schools in the series record. Georgia claims a victory in 1904, but Florida football did not compete at the varsity level until the 1906 season. • Head coach Will Muschamp is very familiar with the Florida-Georgia tradition, having played at UGA from 1991-94 and also facing Georgia numerous times as an assistant coach. While at Auburn (1995-96 as Graduate Assistant; 2006-07 as Defensive Coordinator), Muschamp had a 1-3 record against the Bulldogs and as the def. coordinator at LSU he was 2-1 against UGA.

It's Kelvin Taylor Time:
By Robbie Andreu Staff writer
Published: Monday, October 28, 2013 at 1:29 p.m. Last Modified: Monday, October 28, 2013 at 1:29 p.m. It looks like Florida tailback Kelvin Taylor’s first collegiate start is going to come on the same field that his famous father, Fred Taylor, called home for 11 seasons in the NFL.
Kelvin Taylor, a true freshman from Belle Glade, is expected to start Saturday’s game against Georgia at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, where his father spent 11 of his 13 pro seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"Well, we're working through the week but that's probably what we'll end up doing,” UF coach Will Muschamp said Monday, when asked if Taylor would start Saturday’s game.
Seeing his first significant playing time of the season in UF’s 36-17 loss to Missouri two weeks ago, Taylor had a breakout game, rushing for a team-high 74 yards on 12 carries and scoring a touchdown on a 20-yard run in the third quarter.
Even if Taylor does not get the start Saturday, his role in the offense is going to be expanded, Muschamp said.
“I think so,” Muschamp said. “Again, he's continued to improve throughout the season week to week. He's always been a very instinctive, natural runner. It's very obvious. Again, with assignments and different things, I think he's done a nice job and deserves the opportunity.
“He's a very talented runner. He's a guy that can certainly do some things in the run game. He's got great vision and great instincts in the run game. Again, we've got a lot of confidence in Kelvin and what he's doing, and again, he's earned this opportunity.”

Amazing to me at this point in the season that only 2 teams in the east are bowl eligible.
Even more amazing is that one of them isn't Georgia or Florida.
Yeah, I know injuries have hurt both terribly...but still...

Yeah, I know injuries have hurt both terribly...but still... Both will make it to bowl eligible, but that isn't saying much. For my part, I intend to simply enjoy the games regardless of outcome. The level UF is playing at, the lack thereof in this case, doesn't allow me to get too excited about the games.
