SDE likely to play at 285 this year is getting a 6 weeks head start on Summer B:

Gerald Willis is enrolling early at Florida after all.
The Under Armour All-American defensive lineman from Louisiana started UF classes Monday for the Summer A semester.
He’s in school a semester earlier than Florida’s other 2014 signees, who will report to Gainesville in late June for Summer B.
Willis planned to enroll at UF in January but was unable to meet the academic requirements. With his arrival this week, he’ll still get a head start by being able to go through Florida’s entire offseason program.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder was a consensus top-100 prospect and chose the Gators over LSU and Texas A&M, among others. Most recruiting services list him as a strongside defensive end, but he’s capable of being an interior lineman as well.
“He can play multiple positions because he’s got enough girth to play inside,” UF coach Will Muschamp said of Willis. “He’s a guy that's real mature. He’s handled his business there at Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, he's worked hard academically to get to where he was.
“He's got good flexibility in his lower body. He's an explosive guy. He's got good girth. He can play blocks. He really uses his hands very well, better than most high school defensive linemen. Those guys will be given every opportunity to step in and help us.”

RobbieAndreu: Muschamp said he's in favor of a neutral site game with Miami.
That's all UF is willing to do. The series will not be resumed on a home and home basis.
RobbieAndreu: Muschamp said he's in favor of football players receiving a stipend.
I wonder if he's in favor of paying all UF sports athletes? That's next.
RobbieAndreu: Will Muschamp said the Gators will be moving away from playing FCS opponents in the future.
About damn time! First we go national with Michigan and now we move away from FCS. I don't know why the SEC didn't make this a conference rule. Hopefully, it will be brought up at the spring meetings in Destin by the ADs so it can be put on the docket for next year.

Mighty Idaho is a night game on ESPNU. I'm sure the country will enjoy watching a 51-10 thriller:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The start time for Florida’s season opener against Idaho on August 30 in The Swamp will be televised on ESPNU at 7:00 p.m., the network announced on Friday.
The Gators now have four game times set for 2014, including two night games in the first three weeks of the season. Florida will host Eastern Michigan at 4 p.m. on September 6, and then open Southeastern Conference play with a night game against Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. Both the EMU and UK games will air on the new SEC Network.
The annual Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville will be on CBS for the 12th-straight year at 3:30 p.m.

Recruiting:
Florida may have upgraded.
The Friday commitment of Louisiana speed merchant Derrick Dillon was an unexpected and happy surprise for Florida. The Friday decommitment of Deondre Farrier — as reported by 247Sports's Luke Stampini ($) — is more expected and less happy.
Farrier committed to Florida in February at a junior day, and seemed like a bit of a project even then, without any national esteem to speak of or much in the way of local buzz. Farrier has since drifted further from Florida, with Zach Abolverdi noting matter-of-factly today that Farrier was "reportedly expected to decommit," and message board buzz suggesting the same in the wake of being offered by USC ($).
Farrier was Florida's second commitment of the 2015 class. His decommitment still leaves Florida with Dillon and Tristan Payton at wide receiver, though, so this isn't a devastating move. Forced to choose two of the three players, I'd opt for Dillon, an electrifying athlete, and Payton, who has made strides as a receiver this spring, over Farrier.
Florida also remains in the mix for super-athlete George Campbell of East Lake, and has been closing in on receiver/tight end Auden Tate of late. There are a lot of good players still on the board for the Gators, and Farrier may well have read the writing on the wall.

Based on everything I've read about player updates and injuries, I'm predicting a 9-3 season with UF winning the SEC East. If Matt Jones comes back at 100% and the other injuries are as good as reported, I could see UF pulling a 10-2 season as well. While UF won't get any preseason respect, there is a lot of talent in Gainesville. My gut tells me the players will be extremely motivated after being 4 & 8ers.
My worst case at this point is 8-4. However, I still reserve the right to change this prediction based upon what I'm hearing during the first two weeks of fall practice about injuries. Will Muschamp is a known misleader when it comes to injuries. Whenever Muschamp says a player has a non-serious injury, I expect to hear it's season ending the next week. (shaking head)

Most others don't go out on that limb offering one record so I'm a bit surprised that you have taken exception to the way I wrote it. The exception is probably steaksauce. He thinks bama is entitled to be 12-0 every year. My prediction is two months in advance of what I said in the past about waiting until a week or two deep into fall practice to confirm UF's injuries. Trn and steaksauce wanted me to go on the record way back, but I refused. With all of the information coming out of Gainesville and the Gator Club meetings around the state, I'm now comfortable with most of the injury situations and comfortable enough to predict a good season coming up for UF. The success of the Gators will come as a surprise to most, but not to me.

Robbie Andreau covers the Gators for a living for the Gainesville Sun. He's leaning towards my thinking, but he's not ready to go on the record with his prediction:
Robbies Playbook Not much preseason respect Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11:00 by Robbie Andreu
After being around other members of the media way too much last week at the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, I walked away with the distinct feeling that those who cover SEC football think the Gators are basically going to be no factor in the conference race this season.
I’m not really sure why preseason opinions of Florida seem so low. Maybe the other hacks can’t get that Georgia Southern stain off their minds, or maybe they’ve forgotten all those crippling injuries that helped wreck UF’s season in 2013, and the fact most of those guys will be back in 2014, including starting quarterback Jeff Driskel (who really seems to get no respect from the media around the SEC).
The consensus seems to be that the Gators simply don’t have the talent to be a contender and that Will Muschamp will fail and be gone at the end of the season.
It could happen, but I just don’t see it playing out that way.
For one thing, Florida’s talent level is fine. The Gators have enough skill and athleticism on their roster to compete with every team on the schedule, even Alabama, which will be breaking in a new starting quarterback. Say what you will about Muschamp’s decision making, but the guy can flat-out recruit, which is why he’s got a pretty good collection of overall talent to work with this season.
And look at it this way, as bad as it was last year, as decimated as the Gators were, they were still competitive in most games. They played with LSU for three-plus quarters. They lost to Georgia by only three. Take away one defensive lapse that led to one big run in the fourth quarter, and they could have easily won at South Carolina starting their third-team quarterback.
Despite some big changes since the end of the season (the main one, of course, being the hiring of Kurt Roper and the installation of a hurry-up offense), those not close to the program apparently don’t sense any of the momentum Muschamp has managed to generate.
Of course, going against a brutal schedule, it’s all going to come down to being better (much better, actually) on offense and winning enough games for Muschamp to survive and for the Gators to re-emerge as a contender in the SEC.
So, will Will Muschamp and the Gators bounce back in 2014?
Those who cover the league seem skeptical.
At least one coach, Alabama’s Nick Saban, is predicting it will be a bounce-back year for Muschamp and UF.
It’s a little too early to make my prediction for Florida. I’m going to wait and see how things go this summer. But let’s just say I’m leaning toward siding with Saban on this one.

Phil Steele has UF at #24 in his preseason ranking. That would indicate 8-4. Phil Steele is one of the most accurate prognosticators in the business:
Phil's UF Forecast
Everything went the Gators' way in the magical '06 National Title ssn with many close and fortuitous wins. They narrowly got to the title gm but then dominated Ohio St all'g just 82 yds. In '07 UF was the SEC favorite (#6 AP). I was beat up pretty good by Gator fans as I had UF tied for 3rd in the SEC East and #14 (lower than any other source on stassen.com). UF finished just 9-4 and #13. In '08 Georgia was ranked #1 AP but I called for the Gators to win the National Title. UF was a stronger team than their '06 version ('06 avg win 30-14 - '08 44‑13). I was clearly a Gator fan in the BCS Title gm when they beat Okla 24-14. In '09 they opened #1 but lost in the SEC Title gm to Bama and finished "just" #3. In Meyer's last season they opened #4 but finished 8-5 (NR). In '11 I pegged UF 3rd in the East (now I was accused of being a Gator Hater) and that is where they finished. They were just 3-5 in SEC play and needed a bowl win over Ohio St to finish 7-6. In '12 UF was #23 (picked 3rd in East) but I had them #10 and atop the SEC East. UF needed SEVEN 2H comebacks but was #3 in the BCS poll and just a ND loss away from playing in the Nat'l Title gm. After an embarrassing loss to UL in the Sugar Bowl, they fell to #9. LY UF came in at #10 in the AP Poll and once again I had them lower than everyone else at #18. UF would have finished much stronger had it not been for a devastating spate of inj's. The D all'd just 235.3 ypg over the first 6 but after inj's and a sporadic offense, they all'd 393.2 ypg the last 6. In Wk 2 they outgained Miami 413-212 but were -4 in TO's and lost. They were still 4-1 and #17 when for the 2nd str time they traveled to LSU they had a bkp QB and lost 17-6. The D shockingly gave up 500 yds to MO in a 36-17 road loss. They trailed UGA 23-3 at half and came up 3 pts short. Tyler Murphy had 4 TO's (VU td drives of 10, 22, 4 yds) and UF had a 22 gm win streak vs VU snapped (UF 344-183 yd edge). QB Mornhinweg got his first snaps all year (Murphy inj'd) and UF led SC on the road in the 4Q before SC took the lead w/6:43 left. GA Sthrn brought its option into The Swamp and came out with a 26-20 upset (first ever loss to FCS). They only trailed FSt 3-0 mid-2Q but lost 37-7 finishing 4-8. It was their first losing season s/'79 and first non-bowl s/'90. Naturally all of my key indicators are pointing up and the Gators are an easy pick for my Most Improved List. They are +5.0 in the Stock Market Indicator, had 4 net close losses LY and -4 net upsets. They also have 14 ret st'rs and can only remain healthier. UF does draw both LSU and Bama out of the West but it should be a bounce back year.

UF gets their QB for the 15 recruiting class - don't ask me how to pronounce his first name - ESPN reported that he also had offers from Arizona, Nebraska, and Tennessee: By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent Published: Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 4:35 p.m. Last Modified: Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 4:35 p.m. Florida has landed an Elite 11 quarterback invitee for the second consecutive recruiting cycle. Consensus four-star prospect Sheriron Jones committed Sunday to the Gators at the conclusion of his visit to UF, which included a workout in Saturday's summer camp session. “I'm super excited,” Jones said of his decision. “Just being around the coaches and everything, it was a great experience. The players were real great, too.” The 6-foot-2, 189-pounder attends Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde, the same high school as former Florida linebacker Ronald Powell. Jones is the ninth member in Florida's 2015 class and will be the first prospect from California to sign with UF since Powell in 2010. Jones chose the Gators over Tennessee and has no interest in any other schools. “Not at all,” he said. “I made my decision and I'm going to stick with it. It's a pretty good feeling right now. I can focus on getting this championship at my high school and finishing out my senior year. “Next thing you know I'll be back in Florida, playing for the Florida Gators.” Before he chases a ring this fall, Jones will compete in the Elite 11 competition on ESPNU in early July at the Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. He was invited Tuesday by former NFL player and current ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer, who coordinates the event. It features 18 of the top high school quarterbacks in the nation. UF freshman Will Grier competed in the Elite 11 last summer and finished No. 3 in the final rankings.

Just read that Joker Phillips resigned. Timing seems strange. Something rotten in Denmark...err...Gainesville?
Granted, UF's wide receivers haven't been stellar the last few seasons, but I'm not sure Chris Leak is the answer.
What say you, ET?
