Baker’s House has a nice ring to it. 😎😂 I guess you could kick around uwe's house too. A couple of great games…weird that the visitors have won all 4 games between the two teams.

Very flat 1st half.
17-3 vs one of the worst teams in college football
OL still isn't good at all
Very sloppy

Dale, Mike and Know, Mark got the gear on...grab a cold one!!! .... I ended up having more than one "cold one". The start was a little shaky, but I enjoyed the end result.

the view from 24b-bx...
I said this yesterday and remains true today; I may be getting old, but returning to the shoe as another football season kicks off never does. seeing the kids warming up, tbdbitl coming down the ramp, a crowd in full throat early due not just to expectations in '24 but also see archie dot the I (the stadium started emptying out the middle of the 3rd once it was 31-3. it was hot and humid yesterday). was disappointed that the offense in general did not get off to a fast start; howard was not accurate early, smith dropped his first pass attempt and was offside a couple times, the relatively inexperienced o-line did not handle akron's run blitz pkg during most of the 1st half) and the zips actually had 2 qb's on the field for a majority of the 1st half (after their starter took a nasty hit on the first possession) and had some nice play calling.
you knew the talent level would eventually float to the surface, and it did, but still. howard finished the game going 11-12 and spread the ball around. smith looked as special as the pre-season hype. henderson and judkins eventually got positive yds on the run, and the defense held the zips to 41 total yds thru 2 1/2 qtrs and around 175 for the game along w/2 defensive td's. loved seeing ransom get into the end zone on the fumble return after the 2 nasty injuries he's had the past 3 seasons. and there was a play with about 5:00 left in the 2nd qtr where akron blitzed on a pass play, and henderson moved from the left side of the backfield to the right to pick up and lay down an lb. literally lay him down. and he was more excited about that than any of his plays with the ball in his hands. love love love that, and he's exhibited that most of his career.
52-6 w/plenty to work on is the bottom line. coaches love that for an opener. thought kelly's play calling was pretty vanilla, which I have no issue with in an opener like this. it was pretty evident that they weren't playing hurry up on offense so I'm curious if that will be the norm as the season evolves. the pre-season continues next week w/western michigan, who surprisingly gave the badgers a tussle up in madison.

View from my dad's chair (we were house sitting this weekend)
1. Came out extremely flat and uninspired. Felt the team didn't really care to play. 2nd half was light years better
2. I think Howard looks 10x better than McCord.
3. Smith is as advertised. Had to shake off the butterflies at the beginning (if he catches that screen pass on the 1st drive he's still running) but 2 TDs and some great catches. Tate looks great as well.
4. OL. Looks awful. No improvement from last year at all. When your RB has the best block of the day, you know something isnt right
5. Defense. Really liked what I saw mostly. However I think they can get too aggressive and against a team with actual talent that could hurt them. Sawyer and JT Tuimoloau were in the backfield all day. Secondary was very solid.
6. Innis returning punts will be a major plus this season. Nearly broke 2 for TDs

View from my dad's chair (we were house sitting this weekend) 1. Came out extremely flat and uninspired. Felt the team didn't really care to play. 2nd half was light years better they didn't execute in the 1st half, that's for sure. doubt that they didn't care to play, or else the 2nd half would've been similar to the 1st.2. I think Howard looks 10x better than McCord. he only ran 2 or 3 times, but on the designed play he got about 15 yds and a 1st down. having a more mobile qb who's a threat to run will help the offense in '24, no doubt. 3. Smith is as advertised. Had to shake off the butterflies at the beginning (if he catches that screen pass on the 1st drive he's still running) but 2 TDs and some great catches. Tate looks great as well. true, and don't forget that egbuka had an incredible catch in the end zone for 6 unexplicably still ruled incomplete after a review.4. OL. Looks awful. No improvement from last year at all. When your RB has the best block of the day, you know something isnt right forgot to mention that donovan jackson, tosu's best o-lineman, was held out saturday and that mattered some. he's due back this week, and that's good. that said, room for improvement no doubt. and that block by trey was still sweet. lol 5. Defense. Really liked what I saw mostly. However I think they can get too aggressive and against a team with actual talent that could hurt them. Sawyer and JT Tuimoloau were in the backfield all day. Secondary was very solid. joe moorehead had a nice game plan for the zips. need to remember that in week 1 you have no recent game film for an opponent. akron really just had that opening drive, then the bucks moved them backwards up until the game was out of reach late in the 3rd qtr. j-t-t looked slim, fit and fast. 6. Innis returning punts will be a major plus this season. Nearly broke 2 for TDs his best return came as I was yelling 'let it go!' from my seat. so, of course, he ran it back about 40 yds which had everyone around me quickly singing various songs from frozen at me. ha.

I hope to see the most improvement from this group going into week 2__Otherwise let see some of the young pups give it a go after the bye week(yes, bye week in week 3...smh...a parting gift from Gene Smith)
