Stop moving the goalposts. Hand counting is slower, and complaining about when California decides to start counting has nothing to do with that reality. Whatever. I don’t give a 💩what you think about the issue. I want what Trump wants. Photo ID to vote, only US citizens voting, one day voting, absentee ballots only with excuse, paper ballots, hand counted, results known by midnight local time in each jurisdiction. We don’t need all the other crap. If that system yields fewer legal voters the opportunity to vote, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Making Election Day a national holiday and having absentee ballots available upon request for a valid reason limits no legal voter. I hope congress passes a national voter photo ID law for federal elections using state or local generated ID’s and implements Trumps vision for federal elections nationally

It absolutely does. Why shouldn’t we have extended voting if it can be done securely and adds to the number of eligible voters participating?

We didn’t need a month since the time of horse carriages and walking and sail powered ships to do that until recent California stupidity came along. Why does it matter when the result is finalized? What do you care more about, a fast count, or greater voter participation? What does paper ballots counted by hand have to do with voter participation?

No it would not limit legal voters to go back to one day in person voting. Yes it would. It would limit every legal voter who has something come up that prevents them from being in person on voting day.

No it would not limit legal voters to go back to one day in person voting. That is total, 100% bullshit. I have personally missed out on voting a number of times due to unexpected meetings on election day that did not allow me time to get to the polls. People get sick or a family emergency arises on election day, or they have to work OT to hit a deadline. There are dozens of reasons folks might not vote if you only allow one day.

Does California not require employers to give employees time off to go vote? Even backwoods Alabama does that. We also had our votes counted by midnight. The report was 99%, and the remainder was a few remaining Absentee ballots and Provisional ballots that would be completed by 4:30 Friday. We have a small voting precinct, but we had a record turnout. We had 4 young people that were voting this year for the first time, and they made the primary election and runoff and even studied the two Constitutional Amendments so they knew how they wanted to vote. We also had an 84 year old man that said he hadn't voted in 34 years but this election was so important he had to be there. Another man is near death but asked his son to carry him to his car and into the precinct so he could vote. He told us he probably will not make it to Christmas but he had to vote. We had 2 Provisional ballots from former felons that hadn't gotten their paperwork in by the deadline. I called the Board Of Registrars and was told their paperwork was there and their Provisional ballots would be approved and counted. So, if you are too busy to vote because you want to make money, then f-word YOU!

I have had my share of 12 to 14 hour days and it so happened that a few of them were on election day. I was not able to make it to the polls to vote. ...and if someone gets sick on election day, what is the remedy then? And if the boss won't let you off to vote, then what?

Yes it would. It would limit every legal voter who has something come up that prevents them from being in person on voting day. That’s what absentee ballots have always been for. Those have to be ordered in advance. Hence the “something come up that prevents them from being in person on voting day.” If they aren’t ordered far enough in advance, you don’t get one. There really isn’t any justifiable reason not to have early voting so long as it is safe.

Are they still counting ballots out of somebodies car trunk to get their Democrat Congressman elected?

There really isn’t any justifiable reason not to have early voting so long as it is safe. Then we should freeze time in the campaigns full stop with no debates, interviews, campaign events or rallies or town halls and no campaign ads, etc total freeze from the moment the 1st early vote is cast in any state so that nothing can happen in the weeks between the 1st early vote and Election Day to cause one who voted early to want to change their vote. All votes should be cast based on the same information
