The slow count of the votes here in California is pathetic. Practically every where else was done long ago. Do you need to catch a bus or something? Aside from you, who the F cares? Now answer Trn's request. Lots of people care. It shouldn't take 9 days to count ballots.

I'm not sure that would go quickly -- depends on what must be counted. We had 4 pages of questions last election. Machine counts would go quickly, but if every question had to be verified with handling paper copies?

Virtually the only reason that results are not published is that the deadline for receipt of mail-in ballots is, IIRC, somewhere around 10+ days after the election, so technically, (though very improbably) a gazillion votes could arrive tomorrow and alter the results. It has next to nothing to do with actually counting the votes they've already received.

I don't have a clue what it really means to 'count ballots' -- what method do they use (other than machine counting)?

Not to mention that I was returning the thread back to its actual topic. We are still counting 43,000 ballots from Tuesday’s news release to Fridays here in this county. We shall see if they complete it then. California law allows counties until Dec 6 to get everything done. Ridiculous.

Because I don't care about california election laws, but it shouldn't take 9 days. You keep talking about what a great system they have there. Really? NINE DAYS, and you don't have results yet? And, by the way- you make dumbass comments every day.
