The NPS cited tribal objections as well as elevated levels of perchlorate contamination of the surrounding area after prior events.
Why didn't Noem just suggest a different type of show, like a drone show as so many other areas have done for a variety of reasons? They are just as cool and fun to watch as the fireworks, and one's dog won't freak out from the noise and run away...oh...wait. Kristi's dog is dead.

Fireworks were held every year from 1998 to 2009. You do know, I'm sure, that there were no fireworks from 2010 to 2019. I'd guess you are further aware that Trump was POTUS in '17, '18, '19. Who was Trump punishing?

He went to the fireworks in '20 so he may again.

Demonrats are truly desperate to make a big deal out of her killing one of her OWN dogs.

I was on duty when I got a call to one of my fellow Sgts.' house.  As the supervisor on duty, he wanted to let me know that he was about to kill his own dog by shooting him in the head.  I witnessed him shoot his own dog with a .22 rifle, and consoled him as he cried over the euthanasia.  I witnessed that the dog didn't suffer, and no one called the cops about a single gunshot in the neighborhood.
Technically, we both broke the law (and I also violated dept. rules), but we are both retired now and the statutes of limitations are long expired.
My point is, sometimes people do things that other people don't understand, so tough shit.

Kristi Noem is a GREAT choice for Head of Homeland Security.
