Vs Mercer.......you know it's going to be a win when Matta plays all the white boys to end the second half Mitchell played with a bit in the first half too, and I liked what I saw in his game overall. Can play down low, hit the glass as well handle the ball shoot and defend. The last 5 days have given me some optimism for possibly finishing in the top half of the league.

Refs definitely wanted Oakland to be in the game. Some pretty suspect fouls called that even the announcers called for replays on to see where the foul(s) may have been.

Once the OSU game started I was flipping back and forth between the two. But I thought the exact opposite. Lol. I saw lots and lots of officials leaning toward izzo. Including when the sparty player got tee'd up for the elbow (I would have t'd Tom too for his reax, and I'm an izzo fan). And the call that fouled out Oakland's best player was an awful call. It was a very good game and will serve msu well knowing they can win without Valentine in the line up. Btw kudos to both Michigan St and Oklahoma for having their football programs in to the cfb playoff and their hoops teams in the current top 3 of the nation. That's top notch stuff.

Even though you denied it, the refs did the same thing in the UF at MSU game. The Gators deserved better than the crappy reffing they got. If anyone other than Ted Valentine had been calling the game, UF might have pulled the upset.

I disagreed with some of the calls down the stretch that for sure. But that's sports. And I've said this before... The toughest job in athletics is being an official, more so today than ever. Definitely the most thankless. 99.9% of the people who lambast refs have never officiated as much as a little league game. They get more right than wrong. Basketball is really tough though. And one of your sore spots in the msu-uf game-how much contact to allow inside-is at the top of that list.

And one of your sore spots in the msu-uf game-how much contact to allow inside-is at the top of that list. There were two things I took as wrong in that game:
1. Fouled out UF's starting center and leading scorer on touchy feely calls while letting the MSU bigs bang UF's bigs without fear of being called for fouls. Egbunu had zero points, 2 rebounds, and fouled out in 7 minutes of game play.
2. Charges: Several charging calls on both ends went against UF when it was clear in replay that the calls were wrong. Coach Calhoun on the broadcast team didn't have any problem calling them the way they should have been called.
When you add the two together, it sure looked like a hit job on the visiting SEC team to me. You have no trouble seeing Oakland get jobbed, but it couldn't have happened to UF. That's just wrong.
Could it hurt UF come tourney time? You bet. The Gators are 0-3 against top 20 ranked teams. The MSU game would have been huge had the Gators been given a chance to win.

a hit job? given a chance to win?? lmao. you're amazing. yes, uf lost. it had nothing to do with the fact that they shot 33% from the field and 55% from the line for the game. it was all due to the fouls called on one player, intentionally, by the officials. if florida is good enough come march, a close loss on the road to the #1 team is not going to tip the scales against them. btw, in last night's game, both teams had 31 fouls called, a sign that it was a pretty closely called game. each team had a key player foul out and had multiple players who ended the game w/4 fouls. and oakland actually shot more ft's (48 vs 42) and made more ft's (39 vs 29) than sparty.

The boys looked good again tonight, Giddens had some pretty nice moments, moves, and get-back defense speed. He needs to get that up to 15-20 minutes of game time. The guard play was outstanding. Somebody needs to beat some sense into marc loving though. If something doesn't go well for him on either end of the court, he personally extends the "not going well" for quite some time. Gravity has too much effect on his arms. The conference is top heavy, but OSU should be firmly entrenched in fighting for the 3-5 spot. Should be a fun winter

I like Harris at pg and that chase down block I didnt see coming

The big men have also been playing well, and i think Matta knows who's the best match-ups early for the big men. Quite refreshing not to see Amir Williams around. The team looks early on to enjoy playing with each other moreso than the last couple of years. None of them seem to have the "super-star" attitude beyond Loving. I agree, by mid-season he'll be more of a boat anchor unless his whole attitude about the game in general changes, and his attitude about himself changes.

big 10 season gets underway tonite at the schott vs minnesota. although they're different players w/different strengths, the juice harris adds to this team reminds me of how the team responded when craft came into a game his freshman season (5 years ago... wow has it been that long?). i like how this team is developing multiple scorers on multiple floor levels, and i still have faith that loving will be a leader by example on this team, not just scoring but in doing the grunt work too. if thompson and giddens keep making positive contributions down low, this team will be fun to watch.

Liked very good building a 24-9 lead early. Spent the next 15:00 of the game sleepwalking and it was tied 39 all early in the 2nd. But from that point in OSU has looked good. Great interior passing, solid defense and rebounding. Balanced scoring. Harris and kam Williams have both had big plays down the stretch. Bucks are up 17 70-53 with about 3:00 left. Solid performance in the big 10 opener.
Btw Psu was up 10 at Maryland with under 6:00 left and could close it out.

Best offensive performance of the year. Nice way to start.
