well, the good news w 7:50 left in the 1st half is the bucks are only down 30-29, they’re shooting 57% from the field, 4-5 from 3, 9-9 on ft’s and being more aggressive on offense. the problem? 5 turnovers, 3 by sensabaugh (iowa has none) and just 2 assists. at least they’re in it. spoke too soon. w 2:30 left tosu was up 36-35. bucks go scoreless, iowa goes 4-5 on 3’s to end the half up 47-36. hawkeyes put up 37 shots (made 17), 16 more that the bucks (10-21) thanks to 9 tosu turnovers allowing 9 pts. plus iowa has 12 assists on its 17 buckets, bucks have just 3 on ya 10. sigh blitzed before halftime again.....Iowa knows they are the only team to lose to Osu during this losing strak

The Buckeyes are shooting 48%___50% from 3pt line___11 of 11 free throws__________________________________________________and they are down by 27 points omg. 80-53 and there’s still 7:53 left. iowa may top 100. they’re 32-54 from field w 19 assists. tosu d has been non existent from the outset. and when you have just 6 assists w 13 turnovers that combo ain’t beating nobody. btw, bucks were 9-3 until key messed up his shoulder in the opening minutes vs purdue. since then we’re 2-12 after tonite. that has to be a factor in this free fall. tough to watch.

I have been busy with other things and haven't seen a lot of the Buckeyes this season but are things really this bad? The talent seems to be there so is it coaching? If it is, can Gene Smith really keep him another year?

I have been busy with other things and haven't seen a lot of the Buckeyes this season but are things really this bad? The talent seems to be there so is it coaching? If it is, can Gene Smith really keep him another year? the biggest issue imho during this losing streak has still been shooting. since the purdue loss for the most part it's ranged from awful to way below par in nearly all of the losses. I saw a stat where during the extreme losing skid, the bucks shooting accuracy in close range shots has dropped from 80% to 46% since the purdue loss. these are layups and shots at the rim. key's shoulder injury has been huge there, because we don't have another big w/any kind of offensive experience/skill around the hoop. okpara has potential but needs work on that end. the rest of the team, again in general, just don't seem to be able to or prefer to finish strong around the hoop. that has hurt tons. we're not strong at the point. again I like thonrton's game but he's a freshman, he dealt w/a injured hand/wrist in the last couple months that seemed to take away his confidence shooting from the perimeter. likekele is mediocre at best as a back up. so we've been weak consistently running an offense (hence the high turnover numbers) and setting up teammates (hence the woeful assist numbers) . it's obvious sensabaugh has the most talent offensively on the squad, and had a nice stretch scoring into mid january. I don't know whether it was the headlines, him thinking he's already going to be a nba draft pick this summer, the freshman wall, more defensive attention by opponents or something else, but in the last 3 weeks he's been forcing shots badly, his defensive skills leave a lot to be desired, and he's been very loose in ball handling (6 turnovers last night at iowa). until last night, the one thing this team still had was some grit on defense, which for the most part has been consistent. but last night they looked 2 steps slow the entire game. if that continues that's a sign imho that the coach has lost the team. this program's not used to this time of losing streak, and its certainly not been a trend for holtmann during his time here, and that's tough on kids to dig their way out of a rut. I still think the recruiting class coming in next season keeps holtmann the job for another year to bounce back. but back to back losses where the bucks were even w/opponents thru a half or more and then getting blown out by 20 pts? the wolves are howling even louder now.

I have been busy with other things and haven't seen a lot of t the wolves are howling even louder now. I'm not the only wolf From scarletandgame.comOhio State Basketball: It’s officially time to part ways with Chris HoltmannThe Ohio State basketball team suffered another beat down last night at the hands of Iowa. It’s officially time for Ohio State to part with Chris Holtmann. The Ohio State basketball team lost to Iowa last night 92-75 for its 12th loss in its last 13 games. This is a complete and utter embarrassment of a season for the program and it is officially time to let Chris Holtmann go. Ohio State currently sits at 3-12 in the Big Ten and probably won’t win another game this season with games against Purdue, Penn State, Illinois, Maryland, and Michigan State left. It is safe to say that the Buckeyes have regressed in the five seasons with Holtmann at the helm of the program. An NCAA tournament appearance should be the bare minimum for a program with as many resources as Ohio State. They should legitimately have a chance at the Sweet 16 each and every season. That just isn’t the case anymore. The team has lost all faith and it’s showing. That probably should be the sign that changes are needed. I know that AD Gene Smith gave Holtmann a vote of confidence a few weeks back but that was before this latest embarrassing string of losses. And some will point to the fact that Ohio State just gave Holtmann a new contract extension last offseason. But I would say that Ohio State has plenty of money in the bank to pay off Holtmann and hire someone new. The program is on life support right now. They do have the sixth-ranked recruiting class for 2023 but I have no confidence that Holtman and his staff would develop them correctly. Also, there isn’t a game-changing talent in the class. Four very good players, but there’s no Malaki Branham walking through that door next year.

I saw how EJ carried the team last year and Key was doing that as well until his injury slowed him down....I know Holtmann is staying, Gene Smith has stayed true to his comments, however there is Chris Beard out there now and available__He can coach up those '23 recruits. imo

I mentioned that holtmann started 4 frosh (thornton, gayle, okpara, sensabaugh along w/a senior-sueing) and imho it’s time to the the kids the rest of the season to see what they have.

Have to disagree on that__ based on the case evidence, they wouldn't get a conviction. charges were dropped based on that along with her request
