Should Penn State win the Big10 CG, then the Playoff Committee better hope VT beats Clemson. That's the only way OSU can be given a ticket to the playoffs. If Wisky beats PSU, then poor Wisky gets the Doze Bowl and OSU gets in. As good as OSU is, I just have a problem with a conference champ getting passed over for a non-champ. There are people that agree with that. I believe the playoff committee is going the route of putting the 4 best teams in whether or not they are conference champs. Then they should announce the 4 best teams this week if a conference championship is of that little importance.

Another part will be laughing out loud watching the CFP jump through hoops abandoning their previous selection criteria.

Mark__ 7 of the 10 teams are playing for their conference championships have 2 or more losses. You cant blame the playoff committee for looking beyond next Saturdays' games to put the 4 best teams in. The tiebreaker last year went to Michigan State and Bama embarrassed them. What do you think will happen to PSU vs 'Bama? It will be a New Years'Eve Massacre!
Pac-12: Colorado (10-2) vs. Washington (11-1) Big Ten: Wisconsin (10-2) vs. Penn State (10-2) ACC: Clemson (11-1) vs. Virginia Tech (9-3) Big 12: Oklahoma (9-2) vs. Oklahoma State (9-2) SEC: Alabama (12-0) vs. Florida (8-3) fwiw if Alabama beats penn state by 35, then they beat Ohio state by 31. Ohio state may be better than penn state, but if they are, it's only slightly. Your offense sucks. This debate between Ohio state and pen state is silly bc Ohio state isn't some great team this year. They could have easily lost against Michigan state and northwestern and Michigan. The most annoying thing in cfb is the sec circle jerk...the second most annoying thing is the Michigan/Ohio state circle jerk. I'm glad psu has overachieved to the point where we can crash the party. Wow. Someone has changed his tune. Lol. And btw tosu could have easily beaten psu, if you're going the what could have happened route. Sorry to see your bitterness about a dramatic regular season ending game between two historic rivals who happened to both be in the top 3 at the time.

It's a lock, Mark, but do agree on the bolded part. Mark, you once stated that if OSU were in the playoff after not winning the Conference, you wouldn't watch the game, as you didn't watch the Mulligan Bowl in 2011. Several of us pointed out that if OSU were ever actually in that position, your love of OSU would prove that statement wrong, and you took offense and accused us of calling you a liar. And now it has come to pass, and I have seen you justifying, reluctantly, their inclusion. And I can bet my ass you will be watching the playoff games OSU is in, perhaps even in person. No one ever called you a liar for stating that you would not watch OSU in the playoff if they didn't win the Conference Championship. We just recognized that your love for the Buckeye's would trump any ideological reservations you had on how they got there. I enjoyed Saturday so much because it set up this scenario. Mark, I have utmost respect for you, probably more than anyone on this board, but your rigid insistence that a team MUST win a Conference Championship to be playoff eligible has always irked me, almost as much as Trn claiming he doesn't lean left. Sometimes the best team doesn't win the Conference Title, but they are good enough to win it all. I'd recommend to you to enjoy it, but I suspect you've already let all that ideological baggage go. At least until an SEC team gets in the way y'all did this year. That said, if PSU beats the shit out of Wisconsin, then we have a whole new can of worms to dissect.

Where have I justified that Osu deserves to be in? I will say it again. If I were running this, my alma mater would not be in it, because I hate, hate, the beauty pageant element of this. It would be easy for me to say that 2011 involved just 2 teams being chosen, while this is 4, and I do appreciate your 'obvious' sympathy for my position, even if it did irk you. I'm not a fan of situational ethics, and I have a week to decide whether to eat my words or not. My brother in law is already looking at Phoenix flights, and having a sister who lives in oldsmar would be pretty damn convenient should Tampa enter in the equation. Or maybe I could just shock Jodi and suggest we do dinner and a movie New Year's Eve. She might just insist I go by myself so she can watch the game, should the Bucks get a bid. Lol

Lol In the OSU team thread you were justifying it. That you don't even know you were is where my "reluctance" comment proves prescient. Given the amount of crap spewed at the SEC for Bama's 2011 Championship the last 5 years, I hope you understand why I am enjoying this "ethical" dilemma you and many other OSU fans are dealing with. As a side note, you need to root for UF to score some points, any points, Saturday. The all time record streak for a team not being shut out is Michigan at 365. UF is at 359. Wouldn't you like to see someone break tsun's record?

Then they should announce the 4 best teams this week if a conference championship is of that little importance. From what the Committee head guy said, the separations are not like that. Wisconsin nor Penn State is competing against Ohio State. However, should either team just blow out the other, (59-0, say) that could influence the committee... But bottom line is we have no flipping clue what they're gonna do, and they like it that way.

Wouldn't you like to see someone break tsun's record? Not Mark of course, but I've been painted with that same brush... The obvious difference is not even the two teams being in the same conference, but that the teams had already played. In 2006, I didn't feel it was right for MissedAgain & the Buckeyes to play again. That idea was thrown around right after The Game...But whether I agreed with it or not, I damned well would have watched. How does that make me a hypocrite? It isn't as if we fans have some kind of vote in this BS. If so, I'm not sure we'd even be playing this (IMHO) BS tournament at all. Sure a lot of people favored it, but a lot were opposed as well. Let's face it, we love CFB...regardless of what kind of stuff they throw at us, if our team is playing, we're gonna root for 'em to win...
