Five University of Wisconsin football players earned Associated Press All-Big Ten first-team honors when the teams were released Wednesday, including the only unanimous selection in the conference.
Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor was a first-team pick by all 27 voters after he also earned consensus first-team honors by the league's coaches and media last week. He also won the Ameche-Dayne Big Ten Running Back of the Year Award.
Left guard Michael Deiter, center Tyler Biadasz, right guard Beau Benzschawel and inside linebacker T.J. Edwards were the other first-team selections, while right tackle David Edwards earned a spot on the second team.
UW's five first-team selections trailed only Michigan's seven. Five members of the Wolverine's defense, which ranks first nationally in total defense, earned a first-team nod.
Taylor's 1,989 rushing yards led the nation this season, and his 165.8 rushing yards per game were nearly 20 more than any other player in the country.
The sophomore's big season came on the back of a 1,977-yard year as a true freshman in 2017, when he finished sixth in Heisman Trophy voting.

It marked Taylor's fifth first-team honor among the five All-American teams recognized by the NCAA, making him the Badgers' first sophomore to garner unanimous All-American honors. Taylor became the 10th UW player to accomplish the feat and first since Melvin Gordon in 2014. The others are Gabe Carimi (2010), Joe Thomas (2006), Chris McIntosh (1999), Ron Dayne (1999), Tom Burke (1998), Dan Lanphear (1959), Alan Ameche (1954) and Dave Schreiner (1942). Taylor leads the country in rushing with 1,989 yards and scored 15 touchdowns this season. He won the Doak Walker Award last week as the nation's best running back and finished ninth in Heisman Trophy voting. Offensive guards Beau Benzschawel and Michael Deiter also earned spots on the AFCA All-American teams. Benzschawel joined Taylor on the first team, while Deiter was selected to the second team. It marked Benzschawel's third first-team honor, making him an NCAA consensus All-American. Taylor and Benzschawel are the 28th and 29th players in program history to be given that distinction. Deiter collected one first-team honor, from the Football Writers Association of America, while picking up second-team nods from the AFCA, Sporting News, the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Foundation.

Taylor, who leads the nation with 1,989 rushing yards and won the Doak Walker Award last week, earned a spot on the first team. Already an NCAA consensus All-American, Taylor could become the 10th player in program history to earn unanimous All-American status if he makes the American Football Coaches Association's first team Wednesday. Deiter and Benzschawel, seniors who have started a combined 101 straight games for UW, both made the second team for Sporting News. Benzschawel still has a chance to earn consensus All-American status if he's a first-team selection by the AFCA.

Three Badgers named to AFCA All-America teams Repeat after me: three Wisconsin Badgers were named to another prestigious All-America team. The American Football Coaches of America (AFCA) selected their best players in the country and to the surprise of no one, the Badgers had multiple selections. The AFCA named sophomore running back Jonathan Taylor—who has been named to every All-America team on this and every other planet for 2018—and redshirt senior offensive guard Beau Benzschawel as first-team honorees. Fellow redshirt senior offensive guard, Michael Deiter, was picked for the second team. Everyone knows the stats by now, but it should be noted that Doak Walker Award winner Taylor is only 11 yards away from gaining 2,000 on the season. Thankfully, Taylor will have Deiter and Benzschawel escorting him down the field against Miami in the 2018 Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27th (4:15 p.m. CT, ESPN).

2019 S Titus Toler commits to Wisconsin
Wisconsin finds another DB for this recruiting cycle.
The Wisconsin Badgers found another recruit for its future defensive backfield on Friday, as 2019 safety Titus Toler announced that he flipped his verbal commitment to UW.
From Bellflower, Calif. (St. John Bosco), Toler officially visited Wisconsin the weekend of Dec. 7-9 after the coaching staff offered him on Nov. 23.
247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN designate Toler as a three-star safety who initially committed to Colorado on July 16. Rivals shows 14 offers for the California defensive back, including from Power Five programs like Arizona State, Cal, Minnesota, UCLA, Washington, and Washington State.
Colorado fired Mike MacIntyre in November, but on Dec. 5 announced the hire of Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker to take over as head coach.
247Sports showed that Toler visited Cal, led by former Wisconsin defensive coordinator and current head coach Justin Wilcox, on the weekend of Nov. 30.
Toler joins his prep teammate, projected 2019 outside linebacker Spencer Lytle, as Wisconsin commits.

Greetings to everyone. I'm alive and well. Life got incredibly busy in August when, among other things, I took a 6 month contract to lead a part of a bigger project, which resulted in going out of the country for a cpl of weeks, in August, and missed the football contest. Late Oct, I watched my oldest, marry a smart, talented and beautiful Chem E, who received her degree from FSU, in Dunedin Fl. Marvelous event. That was on the Sat of the OSU/Wisky game. Wedding day started at 10:00am and ended on the roof top bar at mid-night. No time for football that day. Fortunate, given how it turned out. Wonderful week in a rented house though. Mucho cigars and bourbon on the bay w family from afar. Trips to Milw/Kansas City/Fl to handle family issues, advanced and challenge dancing w my wife, on weekends, along w a cpl of hunting trips and in-between nothing but travel and work. At, 72, a bit too long in the tooth for all of this but it should end in Feb when I take my patient bride of a few years on a two week cruise in the S Caribbean. This week, early, was MD/Dentist check-up week so I had some time to check in before I'm off on Thurs. Promised my wife this was it. She chuckled.
I thought in early August that Wisky would be an 8-4 team this year. Despite their early success, I'll be close. 9-3 seems about right. With some luck, maybe 10-2. Young OL is up and down. QB is posting excellent numbers but he doesn't provide fear V top 20 teams. And Chryst is playing him w a distilled playbook. It is what it is. Maybe by bowl time they'll have enough growth to pump a SEC team not named LSU, Bama or UGA.
I'll try to check in more often, as it's starting to lighten up a bit.

Indeed it is..........would like to wish you good luck this coming saturday, but i won't......hope you don't take that personal Kway. My bother, and how many can consider a brother someone they have never meet, yet known well for over 20 yrs, Wisky would need the stadium to have their own atmosphere, which should be altered to a snow storm, for Wisky to have a remote chance. Too much, bad match up talent, on the tosu side, for Wisky.

I'll be watching it, how long I'll remember it is questionable ..........spread to the brain. So I'm a bit greedy. I want to see OSU win one more natty before I'm checking out of here. 1st step was Meat, second step is the Badgers. And then win two more vs unknown/decided. Olegwasi
