FSU QB Sean Maguire injured his foot and will have surgery to insert a screw. Jimbo Fisher says he'll be out 4 weeks and could be back by game two or game three. FSU will start a redshirt freshman, Deondre Francois, vs. Ole Miss in Orlando. While Maguire is a game manager at best, he will be a big loss for FSU based on experience alone. UF's safety that had a screw inserted on Thursday had his recovery time estimated at 5 to 8 weeks. It'll be interesting to see how long the two players end up being out. If 8 weeks, the players would miss 5 games. Most fans have expected Francois to start. He brings an athleticism and running element to our offense that Maguire doesn't have. It also doesn't hurt that Francois has an absolute cannon.

Even if so, FSU's ACC championship and playoff aspirations just got flushed with the Maguire injury whether you're willing to admit it or not. You don't lose that much experience and depth at QB and not see a drop off in performance. Who is next in line behind Francois if he doesn't work out or gets injured?
BTW, 4 weeks recovery for foot surgery to insert a screw? I almost spewed hot tea on my keyboard while LOL.

Lol...it's clear that you know less about FSU than I do about UF. FSU is overrated, looks like 8-4 or 9-3 to me. If Chief Slap-A-Ho Cook gets injured, 6-6 or 7-5 wouldn't be a surprise even though the backups are inexperienced talented players. Frenchie alone will cost the nolies a couple of losses. He'll have growing pains at the most important position on the field. Practicing is one thing while playing is a whole new proposition.

We were 10-2 in the regular season last year with a substandard mash unit at offensive line and no clue at the quarterback position. We return all 11 on offense and 7 on defense. Stick to your day job.

Georgia RB Nick Chubb suffered a serious knee injury last October at Tennessee. His surgery and rehab has gone well. He was practicing in spring without a knee brace but in a non-contact jersey and he didn't participate in the spring game. So far in summer camp he has been playing with the team in full practice with no restrictions. In Saturdays scrimmage he carried the ball 8 times and was tackled in full contact and responded well. He broke tackles on several runs and broke through for 2 short TDs of 15 and 12 yards. He is expected to be ready for the season opener against UNC. Chubb has been learning jujitsu since early spring and says it has sped up his recovery. Sony Michel, the #2 RB, suffered a compound fracture of his left arm on July 4 in an ATV accident. He is practicing with a cast on his arm and in a non-contact jersey. He likely will not be ready until game 3 or 4, but true freshman RB Elijah Holyfield (son of Evander) has impressed coaches and teammates alike.

UF finished at #25 with 10 wins last season after losing its starting QB at midseason. Phil Steele didn't have UF in his top 55. Steele is far from infallible. You had best hope so.

Phil Steele likes Fsu to win it all. ET to mention Steele putting UF at #55 to start last season in 3, 2, 1.... Wrong. Phil Steele had UF outside his top 55. He is wrong on UF again this season placing UF at 34. I have no doubt he is wrong on FSU too.

FSU will have a better season than uf this year, and go 4 in a row and 6 of the last 7. All good things have to come to an end. While expected to do good, FSU just isn't ACC or national champion caliber and especially so with zip for experience at QB coming into the season. FSU is just an over inflated UGALY. The nolies are going to lose to Ole Miss so take the rebs and the points. Let's see a senior experienced QB against an inexperienced QB who has never taken a snap in college football? Gee, that's a tough one. Not. There will be a few more losses too including to UF. The nolies look like an 8-4 team to me.
