There is no talent gap as you are going to find out to your chagrin. With no experience or depth at QB, FSU is in a heap of trouble against the better teams of which one is UF. The other losses will be to Ole Miss, Clemson, and whichever team(s) takes advantage of Frenchie's inexperience. Isn't Uf starting a first year qb?Yes at UF, but no as a college QB. Luke Del Rio started games at Oregon State and Austin Appleby started games in multiple seasons at Purdue. Chris Doering, current analyst with the SEC Network and former 90s Gator WR, said he thought Del Rio would have started last season over Will Grier except for sitting out after transferring in from Oregon State. He is leading slightly over Appleby at the half way mark of preseason practice. Mac isn't ready to name a starter yet. My view is both will be on par or better with Grier and huge upgrades to now transferred out Treon Harris who started the last 8 games for UF last season.

Tennessee lost a starting OT to non-ACL injury and surgery. His recovery time has not been announced:
Tennessee is thinner on the offensive line with starting RT Chance Hall getting surgery for a non-ACL knee injury, according to GoVols247’s John Brice.
Hall had “successful” surgery Thursday morning. There is no word on how long he will be sidelined yet. Drew Richmond and junior Brett Kendrick will likely get more playing time with Hall out.
Hall played in 10 games last season and started in seven. He missed spring camp as he recovered from shoulder surgery.

It looks like Frenchie and a little known ship QB or a walk-on QB for nolie QB depth after the Malik Henry suspension was announced this morning. If Frenchie doesn't work out or gets injured, FSU is in a heap of trouble:
www.tomahawknation.com/2016/8/20/12566866/malik-henry-florida-state-suspended-indefinitely-fsu-quarterback
Jimbo Fisher announced that the Florida State freshman quarterback Malik Henry was suspended indefinitely Saturday for violation of team rules.
A former four-star QB signee, Henry has worlds of talent but has had a tumultuous amateur career, transferring schools multiple times.
In the wake of Sean Maguire’s injury, many assumed Henry would be the backup to starter Deondre Francois, but he had been running third- and sometimes fourth string behind a walk-on in Florida State’s practices.
Henry appeared to weigh significantly less than his listed weight of 185 pounds during the limited opportunities the media had to view him. Sources told Tomahawk Nation that Henry was also not at the prior practice.
Jimbo Fisher did not elaborate on the nature of the rule violated, and the catch-all term has been previously used for a variety of transgressions. But the indefinite nature of the suspension is potentially cause for concern.
J.J. Cosentino is at present the only healthy backup scholarship quarterback on the roster.

The hope/plan was always that Henry would shirt this year...but I agree that if Francois goes down, we are in trouble...at least if it happens before Maguire is back. I've read a few very troubling things about this kid. If he cant get his head on straight, he won't be playing for FSU.

Georgia #1 RB Nick Chubb is recovering from major knee surgery and may not be ready for the opening game v North Carolina. #2 RB Sony Michel is recovering from a complex fracture of the left forearm (both bones broken and protruding through the skin) and is likely out until game 3 or 4. #3 RB Elijah Holyfield (son of Evander) has an ankle injury and it may be a high ankle sprain. Will know more on Monday. Georgia still has an unknown situation at QB. Transfer senior that was mediocre last season, Junior backup that hasn't been good enough to earn the starting job yet, or a true freshman with immense talent but no experience. Gonna be an interesting season.

Sean Maguire returned to practice today, ahead of schedule.
It is Francois' team now, but man, it feels good to have him back.

Holyfield had a minor sprain and is back running with the 2nd team again. Chubb may start or at least play in the opening game. Looks like true freshman Eason might well be the starter at QB.

Being at practice and taking reps are two different things. It's cause to be positive, but I still see him being ruled out for Ole Miss next week.

I don't think he will be part of the game plan, and I doubt the coaches want to have him involved with the game. But the notion that we're screwed (as posited by you) seems a little overblown.

If Frenchie can't deliver a win over Ole Miss, yes, FSU was screwed for a big game not having Maguire. Ole Miss is going to win in Orlando. I get to pick against FSU and get points to boot. It doesn't get better than that.
Insofar as the season is concerned, I was just using the opportunity to shovel some crap on your parade like you do with so much pleasure when addressing me. However, I do see nolie losses to Clemson and UF so in that sense FSU is screwed compared to their lofty preseason ranking. FSU's 9-3 record will probably get you back to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
