Do you think Walt will next vote for a law that would criminalize possession of more than ten deadly bullets? After all, a legal ten bullets clip can only hold ten bullets so there is no need to possess thousands of evil bullets unless you plan on going all Lanza with a shoulder thing that goes up, I know, right?

I can live with a limit of 10 deadly bullets.  
However, the other 9,990 can be the non-deadly kind --- the ones that only tear off arms and amputate legs at the knees.  They can blow out lungs and perforate intestines, and shatter pelvises too.  Heck I'd rather have some of those pistol bullets that can hit a car and make it blow up! I know you have seen them in all those highly accurate and authentic movies  --- the same ones that show superheroes flying through the air for 20 feet to perform a backflip and kick the bad guy so hard he flies out of a window in slow motion only 10 feet behind him.

Fred has decided to add a 500 round case of this outstanding ammo to his order. He didn't want to go over his $0.50/round rule but this stuff is just that good. Amazingly accurate out to 600 yards.

Any ammunition is more accurate than I am, shooting offhand with iron sights.  Combat isn't carried out from bench rests, and any optic can be damaged or knocked out of alignment.

1,800 ft isn't THAT far, and yes, we have a mix of many different terrains here behind the Sunshine Curtain.
Mutt, are you planning to go to combat with your Mini or something? You can pickem off further away with a bipod... and your 581 series is definitely more accurate than the old pencil barrels.

I can't SEE anything to hit at 600 yards smaller than a Volkswagen, and I'm not even sure about that.      A bipod is just another bulky thing to take away from the lines of the gun, and if I am stationary enough for a bipod, I don't need it.

I don't plan on going into combat with anything.  I doubt seriously that my life will ever get THAT complicated.  My rifles are basically expensive toys, although I do keep a loaded mag in my Mini-14 just in case.  Just a 20 rounder though, since it protrudes less.
For my possible "personal combat" use, my Glock 30S is quite adequate, I believe.   It's much easier to take into convenience stores, department stores, malls, banks, and restaurants then a rifle is.  And in all my years of going into all those different places, I've never come across a situation where a gun would be needed.  Of course that doesn't mean I intend to go anywhere without being armed.  You may only need a fire extinguisher or a seat belt once, but when you need it, you better have it.

My Mini is the 582 series .........  the latest.

Same as the 581. Then again your Tactical has a shorter barrel than Fred's waterlogged Ranch so yours will not be as accurate at reaching out and touching steel or organic matter at distance.

I like the wood stocks and maybe one day I'll get one. 
I doubt seriously that a 2" difference in barrel length will make a difference in a rifle, other than muzzle velocity if you use a slow burning powder. I also don't like those little fake gas tubes that some people add to their guns, but to each his own. 
A Mini-14 will never be an M-14, no matter what you do to it.
