Oh for sure,, a revolver or semi pistol, no doubt for close quarters. Looking at my G43 as we speak. RAC'IST: noun; 1.Someone who wins an argument with a liberal. It's OK, but the caliber doesn't start with a 4. No, but the 9mm is just as deadly. 9mm is cheaper , has less recoil and higher velocity. I know, I know, 900 fps vs. 1200 fps... splitting hairs I am... well you stated it. Besides, the .45 ain't THAT much bigger. I'll stick with my G43 for CC, thank you very much. RAC'IST: noun; 1.Someone who wins an argument with a liberal.

A hit with a 9MM always beats a miss with anything else.
.355 and 115 gr. vs .451 and 230 gr. is a pretty big difference when comparing handgun bullets, though.

My G43 is loaded with Hornady 147 gr. xtp hollow points. I don't think there would be too much of a problem putting the bad guy down, if needed. The G43 is perfect for CC. Not too big and not too small. Like you said, though.. It's all up to the individual. RAC'IST: noun; 1.Someone who wins an argument with a liberal.

RAC'IST: noun; 1.Someone who wins an argument with a liberal. Absolutely!
I own a 9MM P-38, and although I can't see why I would ever want to carry it (it's a BIG gun), if I did have to use it, I think I would feel comfortable doing so. I definitely recommend the heavier bullets in 9MM, IF your particular gun likes them. (FTR, my P-38 absolutely HATES plain lead bullets and will only function with jacketed ones.) Never carry a round in your SD semiauto that you haven't tested and proven it to be 100% reliable. That's another point in a revolver's favor. Bad ammo is not very likely to put a revolver out of action, and for that very reason, I sometimes think about going back to my 6 shot Colt .38 Agent. I'd never carry a small frame Smith and give up that 6th shot. And 6 shots from a .38 beat 1 shot from a 9MM, .40, or .45 that then jammed up.
I don't want anyone to think that I think the 9 is bad. It's not, and ammo improvements have made it better. But those same bullet improvements are available in .45 too, and I prefer the bigger the better.
Hell, up until the gangs and muslims started getting bad in Europe, most of the European cops carried .380s, a round that Americans laugh at! I guess they used to have more civilized criminals who would give up after a nip from a .380. "I say old boy, what's this, then? You've drawn blood, mate!! That's not cricket --- a bit of a sticky wicket, actually --- so I am withdrawing from the game. Right! So that's done. It's almost teatime, chap. Care to join me?"

That's not what you said about them before you bought one. In fact, everything you don't have is total crap if I understand you correctly.

There are lots of things I don't have that aren't crap. But I don't trust my life to crap guns or lesser calibers. Other guns aren't necessarily crap, but when your life is on the line, you want one as simple to operate as a DA revolver. MY life is worth a .45ACP Glock. Take that any way you want to.

Well there you go. You're always bragging how you trust your life to your trusty .38... I guess that's not a lesser caliber but mine and Rox's 9mm is??

We've already been through this discussion, Mutt. :::sigh::: That 'plastic' ( polymer ) framed pistol ( with it's STEEL parts in key locations ) will last longer than four or five of yours and mine lifetimes. good nuff fer me. RAC'IST: noun; 1.Someone who wins an argument with a liberal.

I carried the .38 because I didn't have a small .45. I had no choice, except to walk around with a big' ol S&W 645, which I did for quite a few years. I have never wavered from my contention that any gun is better than none, but when the choice is there, I will choose an 11-shot .45 over a similar sized 6-shot .38 any old day.

RAC'IST: noun; 1.Someone who wins an argument with a liberal. I've never said the plastic guns aren't durable. I simply call them plastic guns to differentiate from all-metal ones. An all-metal gun, properly cared for, will last centuries as well. Modern metallurgy has come a long way from the 1800's. Most of the plastic guns are also striker fired, which puts them in a different category from hammer fired guns.

If all I have is a .22, I'll carry the .22 rather than look for bricks and boards in an emergency. But you just want to be contrary. Are you related to Walt, Willie, and Trn?
