Mind telling me what caliber cartridge that might be? If it's a handgun, I would guess .357 magnum. And I did say "guess." the 358 diameter should let you know that it is a 357 of some sort, however the 358 diameter is a rifle bullet that can be used in a pistol round. bumps the pressure up a bit, therefor the velocity too. Not a "magnum", the Maximum.........distance is defense. If I need to drop 'em at 200, no problem Oh yeah. The .357 Maximum. I remember it now. There are lots of handguns more powerful than .45 ACP, but remember, this thread was about .45 ACP, not handgun rounds in general.

I'm in bidding for an original 80's Monson, MA 8" ported barrel/shroud for my 44V with 6" barrel/shroud as depicted above. And you're not going to believe this - the seller is Eric Wesson... of... Monson, MA! Yes, THAT Wesson family. Pretty exciting stuff!

Here is the Mutt - "Let me explain this one more time to you, Snowflake. You like to play in fantasy world with guns you don't own. I carry a REAL gun, every day, everywhere I go. Your little video game opinions don't matter a bit to me. I have SEEN in person, up close and nasty, people shot and killed with everything from .22LR to .25ACP, .45ACP, and lord knows what rifle calibers. Have you?
My life doesn't depend on your wild guesses and "studies." My life depends on ME and MY choices. Understand? Use whatever the f-word you want to, IF you ever own a real gun. As I said, you are Gun World Willie. Never done nothin', but want to act like some kind of expert. You are a sad little man."
Naaaaaaaah, BA doesn't claim to own every gun in the world. I'll bet he even has pictures of himself somewhere with some of his guns, but I trust him.

Dan Wessons are very good guns, as far as I know.

The Dans are beefy as shit. Some magnum rounds are recommended by the manufacturer to be only shot from a DW and another gun that I can't remember the name of off the top of my head.

Then meet me at bam's and we shall smoke the peace pipe. Armed or unarmed? Are you planning to have an unfortunate chipper accident between now and then?? If not I would say bring your arms. You'll need them to hold our guns when we go shooting.

I paid $319 brand new for the 44V in 1986 from PV Ranch and Feed in Petaluma, CA. The 8" barrel/shroud will cost me nearly that much if I win Eric's auction.

The Dans are beefy as shit. Some magnum rounds are recommended by the manufacturer to be only shot from a DW and another gun that I can't remember the name of off the top of my head. For common standard revolver production, they don't come any stronger than Ruger Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks. There are stronger ones that are even more powerful, but I'm referring to what the common man would use. Like I have no desire to shoot, much less own, a .500 Magnum. IMHO that's overkill. If I need that much power, I'm going to a rifle.
Anyway, this whole thread got out of hand. I was simply stating I had added more numbers to my .45ACP supply. Whatever particular caliber or bullet weight anyone else wants to use is fine by me. All I was trying to say is what I trust MY hide to. We are all different.
