I'm not gonna say this is the definitive study, or an expert study, but it IS an interesting study, especially at the 17:05 mark.

And if 9MM were the BEST choice, I would be carrying it. The 9mm has to expand to get to the size of a .45 just starting out!
If you think spraying a lot of small bullets is the answer, get yourself a CO2 BB-firing machine gun.

I HAVE made bad choices by selling too many of my handguns. I wish now I had kept them all.
For a 9MM playtoy, I do have a P-38. Beautiful, well designed gun, but in a minor caliber best suited for playing with. It's the only 9MM I own. That says it all.
If YOU want a 9MM, more power to you. Just don't say it's the "best."
A 9 does beat a handful of rocks.

The only wrong acquisition choice I ever made with a handgun was in not buying a Glock 30 when they first came out. I could have had a great CC .45ACP pistol for 20 years by now.

NOT for me. I have been shooting .45ACP all my adult life, and I am quite comfortable with it. Accuracy, recoil, power, all that good stuff. I don't need a G19 to shoot a few times, then put up just to look at while I carry the workhorse every day. I'll take the money wasted on a G19 and use it to buy more .45ACP ammunition or reloading components. Now THAT makes sense.
I have one 9MM to play with ............ that's all I need. |

Why?
If someone else wants to carry a high capacity 9MM, I don't care. It ain't MY hide they are risking. I try to teach, but if they don't want to learn, oh well ..................
I simply gave my reasons of why I prefer the .45ACP, and they are all solid, valid reasons. I don't need a 9MM, 10MM, .40S&W, .357 SIG, .45GAP, and every other handgun caliber under the sun when the .45ACP handles all my needs quite well.
If they made a .45 Colt semiauto pistol, I would carry THAT. Factory ammo for modern guns is more powerful than the old .45 Colt black powder loadings.
260 grains of .45 Colt lead beats 230 grains of .45ACP lead and it is still very controllable and accurate.
