If CWG's hypothetheses became true, I would see no problem with no gun laws and no limits on their ownership.
And that is for a simple reason. Guns would no longer be a utensil designed for the sole purpose of killing other humans.
However, as long as that is nearly the sole reason for their existence, it demonstrates why they are not the same as dishes and copiers, and why they require greater control of their prolferation.

MOST guns owned by the majority of gun owners are NEVER used in a criminal way. The owner of a gun that is stolen is NOT responsible for the acts of the thief, or whoever now has possession of a gun stolen from its rightful owner.
A gun is a machine, a tool ---and some truly ARE works of art and skilled craftsmanship. A gun is neither evil nor beneficial. It is a tool that can be USED for good or evil. It is the person who uses the gun who is evil or beneficial.
You see the problem here? You lieberals want to give human traits to inanimate objects. That is impossible.
I can build a garden with a shovel and a rake. Or I can kill you with that shovel and rake, The ACTION comes from the individual who is controlling the weapon or tool. NO ONE ELSE.
There is no Constitutionally accepted law that can be written to STOP violence with the use of guns.
A law tells us what to do, but the author of that same law expects it to be broken. That's why there are penalty sections of every law that deals with violence. |

You are making an argument that undercuts any reason to prosecute, for instance, drug dealers.
Drug dealers do not force anyone to take the drugs they sell. The drug is an object that cannot do anything by itself, just as a gun. It sits there in a bag on the shelf, innocent of any harm to anyone.
So why is a seller of such a thing wrong for selling it?
