My M&P Shield 2.0 or Glock 43 are awesome self defense guns that are very easily controlled.. and concealed.. and can practice with them a couple of hundred times for just a couple of bucks. fairly accurate too. Thanks for the tip on grapefruits.. will carry some the next time we go long shootin'.. If you can shoot a couple of hundred times for only a couple of bucks, I want YOUR ammo! I can't shoot that cheap even loading my own.
Yes, 9mm is easier to control than .45 Colt or .45 ACP, but my Glock 30 is just as small and can hold 14 rounds of .45ACP. Under just a T-shirt I limit it to 10+1.
Why have 2 pistols that are different brands but essentially the same? If I needed a second one, I'd just buy another G30. Same mags, same holster, identical operating characteristics.
Before going to shoot, ( range ) I pick up a couple of boxes of hundred round target ammo 115 gr. 9mm for just over 30 bucks. Yeah, not a 'couple of bucks' but close enough . The range time is free so there ya go. How much did you say it cost to shoot up two hundred rounds of .45acp..?.. As for edc, 8+1 in my 2.0 and an extra 8 round mag and I don't even know I'm carrying.

Without trying to figure out exactly how much each powder charge and such costs, I'm gonna guess my reloads are 10-15 cents each. Jacketed bullets are more expensive than pure lead, and I shoot jacketed only in the Glock. My range isn't free, but at least I get the police discount.
I can tailor my loads for velocity and accuracy for each of my guns. Factory ammo doesn't allow that option. You take what they give you.
I don't carry an extra magazine. That goes against the experts' advice, but since 1981 when I first became a cop, I have never had a reason to reload my pistol in a firefight. Hell, I think the most I have ever fired it in a single incident was 2 shots, and those were at tires before we outlawed that kind of stuff.
The odds are better that I'll break my back from carrying the gun than ever having to actually fire it as a civilian.

I'd rather have an extra magazine ( 8 shots ) and not need it than need it and not have it. I don't reload. Too time consuming. To me anyway. I don't go into my 'stash' when I go to the range. I just go by a walmart or sporting goods store and pick up some brass 9mm fmj 115 gr. target rounds. Great for practice. Around 9 bucks for a box of fifty or around 17 bucks for a box of a hundred. So yeah, a little over 30 bucks. Odds are I wont' need to defend myself with a weapon, ( hope I never do ) but the old saying goes, 'ya never know.'

Over Thanksgiving I stopped by WalMart and picked up a couple of $9 boxes or Rem UMC for some plinking out in the desert south of Vegas. Shot a really nice $1,800 air rifle in .30 cal that could not miss whatever I was aiming at.

I agree that I SHOULD carry an extra magazine. That is a "rule" that I admittedly break. Maybe I'll try to readjust my habits, but I doubt it. I don't like to armor up like I'm going on patrol just to go buy some stuff at the grocery store. I don't carry my Marine Corps combat knife, either. No tear gas, no tazer, nothing else.
My best weapon is still my feeble little ol' brain.

You live in Baton Rouge. I'd carry an extra mag if I was just getting the mail.

The other day I checked on some 9mm target ammo at a walmart and picked up a couple of 200 round boxes of Winchester luger fmj 115 gr.for $36 and change. Can't beat 'em for plinking. Also great for just stocking up. Zombies don't care what you shoot 'em in the head with.

When I go to BR, I SHOULD carry an extra mag, but I don't.

Never know when a zombie ( or bad guy ) is wearing body armor. You csn bet your last dollar that if I ever have the misfortune to come face to face with an active shooter, That's where I'll try to place a few quick shots.
