.45-70 HSM.
If it makes the Incredible Hulk cringe, I don't want any part of it! Rattled his noggin so bad he was talking about "rocket surgeons."

I got my .308's and my .300 Savage. Always wanted a .243 or a .22-250.

I got my .308's and my .300 Savage. Always wanted a .243 or a .22-250. I don't need any more calibers to buy reloading stuff for. I think the last time I reloaded .303 British was in the 1970's. Only had my current .303 for about 10 years, I guess, and I rarely shoot it.
As it is, every time I go to the range, it takes me 2 hours to decide which guns I want to take. Black powder, centerfire, rimfire, long gun, handgun? Then I have to think about how many guns I want to CLEAN when it's all over, how many empty cases I want to process and reload, etc., etc.
Recreational shooting sure gets complicated ...........

LOL.. me either. Haven't deer hunted in a few years now. Dove hunted last year a few times but that's shotgun. But do like to bust a few watermelons at 500 , 600 yds. Don't shoot that long range much because we have to drive a few hours to get to where it's safe to set up the targets at that distance. Kind of an 'abandoned' clay pit out in the middle of no where. We do have a range set up on a neighbor's roperty but that's mainly for pistol practice, or some skeet shooting. Might do some pistol this weekend. Haven't shot in a couple of months. Hope I can still hit what I shoot at.

Watermelons are for eating! Save your old 2 liter drink bottles for targets. They do well filled with water and are nothing to clean up.
Or invest in a few steel pig or sheep targets that will last forever unless you use .50BMG on them.
Speaking of ancient cowboy loads though, it's ironic that the legendary manstopper .45ACP load from 1905 is nothing but a ballistic equivalent of the 1873 .45 Colt blackpowder cartridge. The .45 ACP is no better than the .45 Colt, and uses a 25-30 grain LIGHTER bullet.

Watermelons are biodegradable. ( we're out in the middle of no where, ain't worried about clean up. ) We don't use a lot of them , maybe a couple, mostly we bring a dozen or so gallon milk jugs filled with water. Set 'em up and pick 'em off. We pick up the jugs we shoot and bring it back to dispose of. It is ironic about the .45. Something works, ya stick with it. Still like the .9mm though...

Yeah I know watermelons are biodegradable. I'd just rather eat them. Shoot grapefruit instead. I don't like them, and they are more challenging.
I would happily carry one of my .45 Colt Single Action revolvers, but they are limited to 5 rounds and very slow reloading. My Uberti 4.75" is probably the most accurate handgun I own, and the trigger is definitely the best of all of them. Load it up with something like 225 gr. Silvertips, and you have an awesome self-defense gun that is still easily controllable.

Have you priced watermelons lately? Especially if they come from tax-happy Commiefornia.
I don't buy ANY food from there. If Louisiana can't grow it, I don't need it. Almost. We don't grow wheat down here. I buy NOTHING from Californication if I can help it. Sorry, Fender.

My M&P Shield 2.0 or Glock 43 are awesome self defense guns that are very easily controlled.. and concealed.. and can practice with them a couple of hundred times for just a couple of bucks. fairly accurate too. Thanks for the tip on grapefruits.. will carry some the next time we go long shootin'..

I can't shoot that cheap even loading my own.
Yes, 9mm is easier to control than .45 Colt or .45 ACP, but my Glock 30 is just as small and can hold 14 rounds of .45ACP. Under just a T-shirt I limit it to 10+1.
Why have 2 pistols that are different brands but essentially the same? If I needed a second one, I'd just buy another G30. Same mags, same holster, identical operating characteristics.
