old, obsolete and not relevant?

I guess I’m having one of those moments. I did what I was told by my parents, teachers, bosses and ministers/pastors, obeyed the rules, worked hard and paid my dues. Where does that leave me today? A nation, I swore to protect and love; I can’t figure what happened. All the things I was taught was right, is now somehow wrong or not “woke”. I still don’t get that. I remember days of Democrats being Tip O’Neill, JFK and Harry Truman, not what we have now. Donald Trump may have been mean, angry, and tweeting something some pussy, whinny, millennial asshole would’ve not liked, but where are we? I truly fear where we are going, I’m on the down side of life now, old but not too old, but I don’t have 40 or 50 more. A President who claims who counts the votes is more important than the votes. Really? I’m everything bad under the sun because I’m not brown or black, because I worked my whole life and paid my taxes, really? I guess the country moved on without me. Yet, I will not ring the bell.

I doubt any of us here legitimately have 50 years left. Even 40 is pushing it.

I think most of us have concerns about most of what you type about. The problem is, the fringe over on the other side is just as problematic....leaving most folks in this unwashed mass in the middle where we want some reasonable issues addressed with cooperation and respect by leadership. That's been hijacked by the fringes and tribalism, wherein folks are presented with this obnoxious "you're either for us or against us" baloney.

Don't get me wrong. I am not in any way saying making money is a bad idea.
My point was only that any discussion about just about anything seems to get distilled down to, "what's in it for me."

Climate change? How can I make money?
Taxes? How can I make money?
Voting rights? How can I make money?
Cure cancer? How can I make money?
Pollution? How can I make money?
Abortion? How can I make money?
Illegal immigration? How can I make money?

I am exaggerating of course but that is what it seems like anytime a topic comes up. So I wondered aloud if there was ANYTHING out there where you say, "Damn the money! Don't care how much it costs. Absolutely not!" or conversely, "Money doesn't matter. We need to do it!".
