During the middle innings,I felt the guards would lose by a run....Sndergarrd held it down after the first inning....The big 3-run hr in the 7th was needed by this light hitting club both pitchers have been pitching well, but odds favor the Bums...but maybe the good ole home field magic comes thru in the end... ...rain rain, go away... |

Ought to be a good game...both pitchers have been pitching well, but odds favor the Bums...but maybe the good ole home field magic comes thru in the end... ...rain rain, go away...

You aren't going to beat the Dodgers very often when, in just two games, Betts and Freeman go for a combined 12-17 at the plate, 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs...
Betts is unconscious..
He was hitting something like .271 on Aug 1.
Today he's batting .310.
In his last 10 games, he's hit 22-38.

You aren't going to beat the Dodgers very often when, in just two games, Betts and Freeman go for a combined 12-17 at the plate, 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs... Betts is unconscious.. He was hitting something like .271 on Aug 1. Today he's batting .310. In his last 10 games, he's hit 22-38.
When the top of the batting order goes 4-21 in the second game producing 0 runs, gives insight to how this season has been for the Guards who now sit 7 games under .500 |

well, yesterday's 11th inning win in toronto gave the guards their first series win in a month when they took 2 of 3 vs the royals. beating the white sox the following night for only their 2nd 3 game win streak since the first week of june, cleveland sat at 52-51. since then, the record is 10-18 vs an absolutely brutal schedule. and yet, w/6 of the next 9 games vs the twins beginning tonite... down 6 games in the division... they still actually have some hope. at a minimum they need to win 4 of those 6 games... in reality it's more like 5 of 6 to have a shot. calhoun has provided a little pop in the lineup to protect jose w/naylor still out (he could be back in this series), but the babies now responsible for pitching on the staff need to step up too.

The good news is that thre guards have scored 5 runs thru 3 innings tonight....the bad news is the babies gave up 7. I know I got pretty deflated when a 4-0 lead didn't last a full inning. realistically the season is on the line tonight. a loss and it's over, basically, which shouldn't be a surprised since 3/5 of the rotation, plus their hottest hitter have been on the I-l.
I believe its done now. As you said our big arms are sidelined and Naylor is still out but down in Akron this week rehabbing |
