Cant get swept in Chicago__winning at least 1 will still have them 3 games uptrue that. guards now 13 over .500 for the first time since ‘19 and has won 12 of their last 15 games. |

Heard a stat tonite about the Guardians. Do not know if it is true. Announcer said they are the youngest team in MLB and by a lot.
They are also younger then more than half the AAA teams as well.
Oldest player just turned 30.
That bodes well for the future if they can afford to keep paying them all while they mature.

That bodes well for the future if they can afford to keep paying them all while they mature. believe their average age is around 25-26. reminds me of the mid 90s in terms of young talent (belle, thome, lofton, baerga, sandy alomar, ramirez, mesa, nagy) who gm john hart rolled the dice on, signing them to 3-5 year deals, the key to coming so close to winning a couple world series. this club has a similar depth of talent... not as much power but better contact hitters and much more pitching depth. cleveland's farm system has gone under the radar imho since the 90s in terms of talent development, and there's no better skipper to guide young talent than francona. if they make the playoffs, winning their opening series would be a fantastic accomplishment... likely out of reach this season... but the base is there for another 3-5 year run. now if they can just get the fan base back in the park... |

Guards in extra innings tonite___10-7 winners in 11 innings......Kwan,Rameriez, Rosario....all coming up big. Civale kept them scoreless thru 5 innings, got pulled in the 6th. nice 1st start back though...good night

Guardians win season series over White Sox to clinch tiebreaker
CHICAGO -- The Guardians have clinched another tiebreaker.
It took a couple of extra innings, but Cleveland set the tone in the opener of the three-game set at Guaranteed Rate Field with a 10-7 win over the White Sox in 11 frames on Tuesday night to move five games ahead of second-place Chicago in the American League Central. More importantly, the victory gave the Guardians the edge in any tiebreaker scenario.
Let’s go over this year’s rule one more time. There will be no Game 163, which means all ties will be decided by the two teams’ head-to-head record. Of 19 matchups between the Guardians and White Sox, Cleveland has now won 10 times, clinching the season-series win. Over the weekend, the Guardians also secured the tiebreaker against the third-place Twins.
