Pat Dooley is foaming like a mad dog in his tone at the prospects of getting rid of Muschamp so I'll leave it to Gatorzone to give a more level headed analysis of the game. Bottom line, bama ran 87 offensive plays to 55 for UF. Both sides of the ball need improvement, the whole offense and D secondary. The D secondary gave up big play after big play in the passing game while the offense got exactly 200 yards of offense. Give the Gator D credit for forcing the 3 turnovers that led to the 3 UF scores or the game would have been more lopsided than it was:
By SCOTT CARTER GatorZone.com Senior Writer
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Gators arrived at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday afternoon believing they could play with No. 3-ranked Alabama.
And for a while they did.
However, the Crimson Tide dominated the second half in a 42-21 win over the Gators, led by quarterback Blake Sims, who threw for a career-high 445 yards.
The game was tied 21-21 after Gators quarterback Jeff Driskel's 14-yard scoring run in the third quarter.
After that, it was all Bama.
The loss dropped the Gators to 2-1, 1-1 in the SEC and sets up an important road game at Tennessee in two weeks.
Here is our instant analysis of UF’s loss to the Crimson Tide:
THE QUICK SLANT
WHAT IT MEANS: Florida's opportunity to prove that it's back among the SEC's elite did not go the way the Gators hoped. A win over Alabama would have been a huge win for the program and big step in the right direction. Instead, Alabama's offense was unstoppable when the Crimson Tide avoided turnovers. Meanwhile, the Gators -- their offense and defense -- have a lot to work on during the bye week.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: The matchup between Gators cornerback Vernon Hargreaves and Alabama receiver Amari Cooper was in the spotlight all week. Hargreaves made some nice plays and drew a pass interference call on Cooper, but no one could cover Cooper. He finished with 10 catches for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
STAGGERING STATISTIC: Alabama rolled up 645 total yards, the most ever gained against a Florida defense. The previous record was 629 yards, set by Nebraska in a 62-24 win over Florida in the 1996 national championship game.
SUBPLOT: Florida head coach Will Muschamp entered the season understanding that every loss would be scrutinized in endless ways. That was already happening during the game on social media. The next two weeks are very important for the Gators to improve and try and get back on the right track at Tennessee.
UP NEXT: The Gators have a bye week before they travel to face Tennessee on Oct. 4. Florida's performance Saturday was disappointing offensively and defensively. Whatever improvements the Gators can make over the next two weeks will be critical to get a 10th consecutive win over Tennessee in two weeks.

While I tend to agree here, this is a bad sign that there is already a rift on the team.

That's just cause for being kicked off the team if it is truly Robinson's tweet. The players cannot be allowed to have another split on the team. What Charlie Strong did at UTex is fine. Boot the trouble makers from the team. Nobody is above the team, nobody.

All I could do is say wait and you'll see the new Jeff Driskel when Kurt Roper puts the new spread offense on the field. Trn: I don't think Jeff Driskel is a good QB regardless of the offense. It appears Trn has turned out to be right and I was wrong. This from Zach A. of the Sun along with tweets from prominent Gators calling for a change at QB for the Gators: editorsdesk.blogs.gatorsports.com/10805/muschamp-must-stop-coddling-driskel/?tc=crThe NFL analysis that Driskel has the field vision of a true freshman is an eye opener as it reflects what Driskel is doing in the new offense that should have been a good fit for him. Muschamp has some tough season affecting decisions to make over the next two weeks.

This could make Muschamp even more insistent on sticking with Driskal.

My guess is the defense can sort itself out, but the QB MUST be able to be reasonably accurate which is something Driskel has failed do. Yes, he has been the victim of drops, but he has missed or thrown late to many open receiver. I agree with the article, Spurrier would have put him on the bench or shared the snaps trying to get someone else ready.

This game is big for Will in that, if the Gators lose, I don't see Muschamp keeping his job.

Muschamp had better get his shit together and Driskel had better find some passion and accuracy this week or I'll have to remove my sig line touting UF as the 2014 Comeback Team of the Year and Muschamp will be looking for a new job at the end of the season after UF's loss at UT on October 4:
By SCOTT CARTER GatorZone.com Senior Writer
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In the wake of Saturday’s 42-21 loss at No. 3-ranked Alabama, Gators safety Keanu Neal knew what was coming when the team met Sunday night to review game film.
“We’re going to be very critical,’’ Neal said.
The loss at Alabama was a team effort as the Gators struggled both on offense and defense.
For a team coming off a 4-8 season, losing on the road to the Crimson Tide after being tied 21-all in the third quarter normally doesn’t set off alarms.
However, the Gators stepped onto the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium expecting to play much better than they did regardless if they pulled off the upset or not.
That wasn’t the case, which has set an urgent tone for a team that has a bye week. Florida’s coaching staff was busy Monday recruiting and the players had the day off. The Gators return to practice Tuesday focused on one word: improvement.
“The meat of our schedule is coming up,’’ Florida head coach Will Muschamp said. “Obviously [Alabama] was a game we really pointed to and we felt good about going in. We’ve got to execute better offensively, play better on defense, coach better as a football team.
“Everything is still in front of us as far as the SEC East is concerned. We’ve got a good football team. We didn’t play that way Saturday. We need to coach better, play better, and we will.”
Since the loss, much of the media attention and fan frenzy has centered on Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel and the offense’s struggles in the Gators’ fourth consecutive loss to Alabama since beating the Crimson Tide in 2008 in the SEC Championship Game.
A fourth-year junior, Driskel is healthy after missing most of last season due to a broken leg suffered against Tennessee, Florida’s next opponent on Oct. 4. Coming off a career-high 295 yards passing in the Gators’ 36-30 triple-overtime win against Kentucky, Driskel was 9 of 28 for 93 yards at Alabama.
Meanwhile, his counterpart, Alabama’s Blake Sims, looked more like Peyton Manning than a guy in his fourth career start. Sims threw for a career-high 445 yards and four touchdowns, the third-best passing performance in history against the Gators behind Manning’s 492-game in 1996 and Charlie Ward’s 446 yards in 1993.
Sims’ outburst came a week after Kentucky quarterback Patrick Towles threw for 369 yards, the most passing yards allowed by the Gators under Muschamp.
As the Gators turn their focus on improving before the Tennessee game, Muschamp hinted at possible personnel changes after the game and during his Sunday TV show.
Driskel said Saturday’s offensive performance was attributed to a lack of execution more than anything.
“It has nothing to do with schemes we haven't seen,’’ Driskel said. “We didn't make the plays when they were there and they did. At the end of the day we didn't play well enough to win against a good team.”
The Gators managed only 200 yards offensively while Alabama rolled up 645, the most surrendered by a Florida defense.
The Crimson Tide nearly matched Florida’s offensive output on just two plays – an 87-yard touchdown pass from Sims to running back Kenyan Drake on their first play from scrimmage, and a 79-yard pass from Sims to Amari Cooper when Cooper was left wide open down the field due to busted coverage.
The performance has Florida ranked 12th in the SEC in total defense, giving up an average of 406.7 yards per game, very unlike what the Gators have done defensively since Muschamp took over.
“We gave up too many plays defensively, and didn’t make them earn it,” Muschamp said. “It comes down to the fact we couldn’t get off the field defensively on third down. Too many big plays, too many explosive plays given up. Offensively, we can’t stay on the field and maintain drives. We’ve just got to find ways to be more efficient offensively, and defensively, we’ve got to get some things fixed, especially on the back end.”
Clearly dejected, senior center Max Garcia vowed in the locker room afterward that the Gators will bounce back from their subpar performance.
“We’re going to put this behind us and grow,’’ Garcia said. “I believe in this football team. I believe in this offensive line. I believe in the coaches. I believe in the defense. We’re going to be better.”
The Gators have plenty to play for in what appears to be a wide-open SEC East. Every team in the division has already lost a game.
When the Gators return to practice Tuesday, it won’t be your usual bye-week atmosphere.
“We’re going back to training camp-like practices,’’ Muschamp said. “We’ve just got to evaluate where we are. Are we doing too much defensively? You can’t bust a coverage and let Amari Cooper run down the middle of the field. That can’t happen. That’s on me as a coach. In that situation, are you asking your players to do too much? We’ve got to get those things corrected.”

Gary Danielson comments on the Gators on the Miller and Moulton sports show after the bama game:
- WR' s better - OL better - DB' s very talented, but young. - Driskel is talented, but transition to new offense has not progressed enough; noted passes off target, but stopped short of saying bench Driskel. - Still thinks Muschamp can get job done. - Thinks Gators can win next 3 against at UT, LSU and Missouri. - Thinks UF/UT could be one of best games of season with both teams desperate for a win.

This game is big for Will in that, if the Gators lose, I don't see Muschamp keeping his job. LOL...I think that sucks...Every time I here stuff like that it reminds me of how crappy the NY Giants treated Bill Parcells....He won super bowls for them and lead them to greatness many times but they treated him like he had to prove himself EVERY year and thatz BS.....Today, Loyalty and 6 dollars is worth $6.01 However, I DO agree that Spurrier would have probably made changes by now.....
