I can't get past Vandy. Will Muschamp is just as likely to pull at Zooker and lose this weekend in Nashville. UF will handle Vandy easily and will almost certainly go bowling with a minimum of seven wins. Hell, if the gators get on a roll they could beat FSU (several teams almost did this season and UF has as much talent as any of those teams). That would put UF at 8-3. Like I said, a little help from Mizzou and UGA could put UF in the SECCG with a chance for a 10 win season. Chances are UF will lose to FSU and beat Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl to finish 8-4. (Would have been 9-4 with that Idaho game). Not too shabby, and definitely lets Muschamp keep his job. My guess is that his HUGE win over UGA will allow him to exit with a bit of grace/ dignity but (ultimately) not much...He's history.....and UF life goes on...Chomp

I mean 9-4 sure sounds better than 8-4 imo. I guess you could say that it took an act of God to take Muschump out. Maybe he can take the Mississippi State job after Mullins moves on to bigger and better things in a couple of months. We could see a coaching swap between UF and MSU, unless Harbaugh turns down the Michigan job and Dan heads north.

I had heard Muschamp had to win out to be retained. I'm thinking the big win over UGALY may have bought Muschamp a close loss at FSU. An bad loss at FSU or any other losses end up in his firing.

I think the coaches are sandbagging a bit on Treon Harris. The reason UF didn't throw many passes against UGALY is the poodle D was awful that day against the run and the wind was blowing from 25 to 30 MPH. There are few QBs with the skills to pass successfully in almost tropical storm force winds. It's a truth of college football that strong winds are bad for passing teams. UGALY only threw more after they got behind and had to play catch up.

True freshman Florida quarterback Treon Harris experienced pretty much a stress-free first start Saturday in Jacksonville. He didn't have to do much. He wasn't asked to do much, other than hand the ball off to Kelvin Taylor and Matt Jones and watch the Florida offense go up and down the field against Georgia.
It was a positive beginning, but only just a beginning for Harris, who will be called on to do a whole lot more in the offense as the Gators head down the stretch, especially in the passing game.
“If we don't get better at turning the ball over, it doesn't matter what we do,” offensive coordinator Kurt Roper said Tuesday. “We want to be a team that is playing smart, taking care of the football and growing. But there's no doubt Treon is going to have to be a playmaker in the passing game.”
There was little or no burden on Harris to make plays in the Gators' 38-20 victory over the Bulldogs. The Gators were so dominant on the ground that the decision was made early to stay one-dimensional, which obviously turned out to be the right move given the fact UF rushed for 418 yards and dominated the game over the final three quarters.
So, what's the next step for Harris and the passing game?
“It's a good question,” Roper said. “I don't know that there's been a first step is maybe my answer to that because we called four passes all within the first 20 plays. I think three of the passes that we called were in the first six plays.
“I don't know that there was ever a step necessarily gained other than the fact that he almost made some plays out of (rhythm) … and was still smart with the football when he was throwing it. Maybe that's the step we're at, but I think we're really in our infancy of knowing.”
In other words, it's way too early to judge Harris or speculate on what he can and can't do in the passing game. By all accounts, he's made all kinds of plays throwing the ball in practice, but he's thrown far too few passes against SEC competition to form an opinion about his ability as a passer.
He threw only six passes against Georgia, just one in the second half.
As the Gators move forward, the plan is to grow the passing game with Harris.
“It's got to be a dimension we have in our offense to be able to stay successful and make plays and those type things,” Roper said. “He's ready for me to call more (passing) plays than we called, whether we're successful with them or not is a whole different discussion.
“He has been repping a lot more plays and it doesn't matter drop back, moving pocket or play action, he has repped a lot of our offense. Knowing what the play is and then applying it successfully against the defense are two different things.”
UF coach Will Muschamp and Harris' teammates say they're confident Harris will be able to execute the passing offense when he's called upon, likely Saturday in Nashville against Vanderbilt.
“We'll need to continue to develop that moving forward,” Muschamp said. “I feel very comfortable where we are and moving forward throwing the football. It just never presented itself (in the win over Georgia).”
Senior offensive tackle Chaz Green said the players are confident Harris will be a productive passer and become a playmaker on the field like he's been in practice.
“I would say so,” he said. “I know we didn't throw the ball much, but he had that throw early on to Latroy (Pittman) where he rolled out and threw it back shoulder. The ball had to be pretty much placed in the perfect spot for it to be a completion.
“I think Treon has shown things here and there that make us feel comfortable that he'll be able to produce in those situations.”
Roper said Harris has a good understanding of the UF passing game. Now, it's just a matter or taking that knowledge and applying it in game situations.
“Handling it and knowing what we're doing, yes he can handle a lot more,” Roper said. “But with all the things a defense can throw at you or if all of a sudden the play is not a good play call into a certain look, does he do a good job taking care of the football and minimizing the negative? All those things are what you learn from a quarterback as you're going forward.
“We know he can handle some things as far as what we're doing mentally on our side of the ball, but there are two sides of the ball that you have to handle. So, he's going to have to do more. We're going to ask him to do more. He's going to have to make plays in the passing game, but we all learn on Saturday."

Has Treon grown any or is he still only 5'11" tall? Good defenses will simply take away any passing lanes with a QB that short.

Ah, I didn't realize the Gators had an offensive line like the Seahawks capable of creating those lanes.

Robbie Andreu is more optimistic than I am. Muschamp won't open it up enough to score 38 two weeks in a row:
Robbies Playbook Survival game is on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11:50 by Robbie Andreu
Florida’s stunning win in Jacksonville last Saturday has given the Gators some rare momentum and given Will Muschamp real hope that he can save his job. What happens in the next two weeks will determine how this all plays out for Muschamp and this UF team.
If the Gators can build on this momentum and put together another impressive performance against Vanderbilt in Nashville on Saturday night, they could get on a streak that could carry them to a seven or eight-win season and secure Muschamp’s job heading into 2015.
When I say build on momentum, that means more than just winning. It means playing well and entertaining UF fans with some offense, especially in the passing game. In other words, it’s time to turn loose true freshman quarterback Treon Harris and let him make some things happen with his arm. It would boost the offense. It would excite fans, who are looking for a reason to feel good about the future. It would help recruiting, because a lot of top recruits will get excited if Harris starts to emerge as potential future star over the next month.
Muschamp, of course, is in that mode where you do what you have to do to win games. Last week, it was run the football. But if Muschamp tries to win games against Vanderbilt and South Carolina without taking any chances on offense, we’ll be right back to 2012, where the Gators won 11 games but were blander than bland on offense.
If the Gators revert back to that form where they win but look bad doing it, it’s not going to help Muschamp’s chances of surviving. He has to know that, so I think he’s going to open up the playbook more for Harris and let him throw the football. If Harris has success doing it and the offense goes up and down the field, UF’s momentum is going to continue to grow, fans are going to feel better about the future, and Muschamp might have a future at UF.
I have a feeling that that’s exactly what’s going to happen Saturday night. The offense is going to be more balanced, Harris is going to make some things happen in the passing game and the Gators are going to come away feeling even better about themselves heading into the final three games.
Prediction: Florida 38, Vanderbilt 10.

Optimism from Pat Dooley is too much to believe. Will Muschamp will go out of his way to muck up the offense. Hey Will, just let Kurt Roper do his thing. Doing that might save your job:
FLORIDA AT VANDERBILT: I’ve got a copy of Florida’s game plan and it includes seven different pass plays. Well, not different plays, but seven passes. See, we told you Treon Harris is going to throw more. Florida, 35-17.

UF opened at -13 1/2 and is sitting at -14 this morning. I don't think the Gators will cover 2 TDs and made extra points on the road. My pick:
Florida 27 Vanderbilt 17
UF gets some kind of late score to put away a closer than expected game. The dores always seem to play the Gators tough in Nashville. The 96 and 06 national championship teams darn near lost in Nashville. If UF covers the way Andreu and Dooley are thinking, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
If Trn had put the game in the pick'em contest, I'd have picked UF with reservations.

So is Orr off the team, or just in the doghouse. I don't know. We probably won't find out until Muschamp's Monday presser. I will say this on the situation. I can understand Leon Orr's position. I would have started him in the game. I don't think the Vandy running game would have done anything with Bullard moved out to end where he belongs and Orr starting at DT. Muschamp is proving to be frustrating both offensively and defensively. If he doesn't win out, including at FSU, I'd fire his sorry ass.

Starting Leon Orr with him back to full health and with Gerald Willis still out with his high ankle sprain was a no brainer. As a redshirt senior who was the starter before having his knee scoped after the bama game, Orr thought he deserved better and he did. I'd have told Muschamp to shove it too. Bullard should have started at SDE. This will not help the Gator D the rest of the way. Harris did have a couple of passes deflected at the LOS so Darrell may have something about him being too short at 5'11". He seemed to do better when he rolled out left or right. He's good going both ways. However, the long passes to Fulwood and Dunbar were thrown from the pocket. Time and better opponents will tell the story. I must say I was pleasantly surprised to see Pat Dooley and Robbie Andreu be right with their predictions.

Hot Head Muschamp at his best:
By Robbie Andreu Staff writer

NASHVILLE — Florida defensive tackle Leon Orr is off the team after he was sent back to Gainesville on a bus Saturday when he expressed displeasure over not being in the starting lineup against Vanderbilt.
"If you go home you're done," Florida coach Will Muschamp said he told Orr.
"He was more concerned with starting than being part of the team,'' Muschamp told Gatorzone.com.
Orr, a fifth-year senior from New Port Richey, has not started since the Alabama game on Sept. 20. edit: due to knee scope
Defensive end Jonathan Bullard has been starting ahead of Orr at tackle alongside Darious Cummings.
Orr started eight games last season and the Eastern Michigan and Alabama games this season.
