Another transfer - Gerald Willis kicked off team after another player altercation - the kid was just too much trouble. Willis hope to transfer to Texas A&M: www.gatorsports.com/article/20150106/ARTICLES/150109795?tc=crBy Zach Abolverdi Correspondent Published: Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 4:48 p.m. Last Modified: Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 4:48 p.m. One of the star signees from Florida’s 2014 recruiting class is now looking for a new school. UF defensive lineman Gerald Willis III was dismissed from the team this week, sources told The Sun on Tuesday. After The Sun reported the news, the UAA released a statement saying Willis will be transferring from the football program. One source said Willis hopes to land at Texas A&M where his close friend and high school teammate Speedy Noil plays. Willis had another altercation with a teammate recently, but sources said his dismissal was the result of multiple incidents he had during his true freshman season. The 6-foot-2, 255-pounder got into a fight with quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg in October over a misunderstanding about a pair of cleats. Neither player was arrested or suspended. Willis was thrown out of the game against Florida State by defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin after he shoved FSU quarterback Jameis Winston on the sidelines. “If I was still head coach, he’d be kicked off the team. Ridiculous,” Will Muschamp said afterward. Willis played his best game of the year in Saturday’s Birmingham Bowl, recording a season-high four tackles and a timely forced fumble with UF backed up against its own end zone. He finished the season with 14 tackles in eight games played. Willis committed to the Gators last January at the Under Armour All-America Game and was one the highest ranked recruits in the 2014 class.

Antonio Morrison returning for senior season:
By Robbie Andreu Staff writer

Last Modified: Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 5:10 p.m.
For a second consecutive day, a top Florida junior defensive player announced on Twitter that he is returning for his senior season.
Linebacker Antonio Morrison, the Gators’ leading tackler this season, is the latest junior to say he’s staying at UF instead of declaring for the draft. Junior defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard revealed Monday that he’s returning in 2015.
"I'm returning to Florida and I will be getting my degree in 2015,” Morrison told Gatorzone.com on Tuesday. “That plays a big role in why I'm returning. And as a leader of this team, I want to lead my team to Atlanta and possibly a national championship. Coach (Jim) McElwain has put together a great staff and I'm looking forward to working with them this year."
Morrison was perhaps UF’s most productive defensive player this season, recording 101 tackles. He finished with 10 or more tackles in six games, including a career-high 16 against South Carolina. He is the first Gator to record more than 100 tackles in a season since safety Ahmad Black in 2010.
Morrison also had six tackles for loss, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble this season. He’s played in 33 games in his UF career, totaling 191 tackles.
Morrison left the Birmingham Bowl with what appeared to be a serious leg injury that likely will require surgery. UF is expected to reveal more about the extent of the injury Wednesday.

This is better news than picking up the commitment from a 5 star DE:
Kassidy Hill @kassidyghill
DE Gerald Willis has been reinstated to classes at Florida. Meeting next week about returning to athletic program. Wants to stay a Gator.
Willis is the next Dante Fowler. I hope he gets his problems resolved.
So far, it doesn't look like we are going to have the large amount of transfers that we experienced in Muschamp's first year. If Coach Mac and staff can pull in a decent recruiting class, say 20 good players, UF should not be as shorthanded in 15 as we were in 11.

Pat Dooley's Early 2015 Prediction Is UF Is Not Top 25 Material:
"I think Jim McElwain has a major rebuilding job and that offensive line is a mess."
ET: While still too early, it looks like 7-5 to me for the 15 season.

The crickets are still chirping on the recruiting front, but the team news keeps getting better and better. Jake McGee (TE) has been granted his medical 6th year of eligibility by the NCAA.
Hopefully, the next good team news this week will be that Gerald Willis (DE) will be allowed to return to the team at some point soon. UF reinstated Willis to classes last week.

Florida tight end Jake McGee has apparently been granted a sixth year of eligibility, according to his Twitter feed. McGee, a transfer from Virginia, tweeted, “Lets try this college thing one more time! thanks @ncaa see you in the fall!” on Tuesday evening.
McGee suffered a broken leg in Florida’s first game (middle of 2nd quarter) of the season in 2014. Florida officials said they were still trying to confirm McGee’s news.

I'll be a Muschamp fan as long as he's not playing the Gators.

Jake McGee is official. Gatorzone only posts confirmed information. From Gatorzone:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Gators tight end Jake McGee received good news Tuesday. The NCAA granted McGee's request for a sixth year of eligibility.
McGee transferred to Florida last summer after earning his undergraduate degree at Virginia, where he led the Cavaliers in receiving with 43 catches for 395 yards in 2013.
McGee enrolled in graduate school and was eligible to play immediately at Florida under NCAA rules. However, early in the season opener against Eastern Michigan, McGee suffered a season-ending broken left leg.
He applied for a sixth year of eligibility after the season and tweeted about the NCAA's decision on Tuesday afternoon. McGee's return provides first-year head coach Jim McElwain with a proven pass catcher and playmaker at tight end, a position that has lacked significant production since Jordan Reed left after the 2012 season.

$15 million dollar UF indoor football practice facility will be a reality by September: www.gatorsports.com/article/20150121/ARTICLES/150129945?tc=crBy Robbie Andreu Staff writer Published: Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 10:53 a.m. Last Modified: Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 10:53 a.m. The much-debated and much-anticipated indoor football practice facility at Florida is becoming a reality. Construction on a $15 million indoor facility will begin shortly and is expected to be completed in early September, the University Athletic Association announced Wednesday. The 120-yard, synthetic football field will be located on the site of the current Sanders Football Practice Fields. The project will include additional space for drill work on the north end of the field, three camera platforms, satellite training room facilities, equipment storage and restrooms. It also will include a newly designed entrance to the baseball stadium and the football practice facility. "This is something we have talked about internally for some time," UF athletic director Jeremy Foley said. "We have always been able to utilize The O'Connell Center as an indoor option for the football team, but with the renovation starting this spring, it will no longer be available." During the 2014 season, an estimated 30 practices were affected by weather. With the O'Connell Center renovation project slated to begin this spring, it will no longer be available for football practices. The cost of the project will be funded through private gifts and capital financing. The updated football practice complex also will include two natural grass fields, a 120-yard field (including two end zones) and a 70-yard field (with end zone on one end). The indoor facility will have multiple overhead roll-up doors along the east and west side for ventilation, and also for easy access to allow the team to utilize all three fields during a practice.

It's going to be interesting to watch this kids career. He didn't play the recruiting game yet Randy Shannon wanted him at Arkansas before he moved to UF. LB Rashad Jackson committed to UF today:
Miami Norland linebacker Rayshad Jackson commits to Gators

Not only did Florida's visitor list this weekend produce some high-profile recruits, it yielded UF's first verbal commitment in more than month.
Miami Norland linebacker Rayshad Jackson pledged to the Gators on Sunday at the end of his trip. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder chose UF over the Arkansas Razorbacks, who hosted him on an official visit last weekend.
“The atmosphere at Florida was great,” Jackson said. “I was real comfortable on campus, and the academics played the biggest part in my decision. I want to major in sports management and I feel like the education at Florida is going to set me up for the rest of life.”
Jackson's commitment is an early example of the recruiting ability and prowess of UF linebackers coach Randy Shannon.
A relatively unknown prospect (and unrated by ESPN and Scout), Jackson was evaluated extensively by Shannon at Arkansas and received his first scholarship offer from him in October.
Two days after officially joining Florida's staff, Shannon extended Jackson his second offer on Jan.7 and continued his pursuit this month.
“The relationship me and coach Shannon have is tremendous,” Jackson said. “He really believes in me, and I trust him. I wouldn't want to play for any other coach.”
The Gators now have nine members in their 2015 class, and two more recruits could join it Monday.
Offensive lineman Steven Clark — a Syracuse commit who also took a trip UF over the weekend — and defensive lineman Jabari Zuniga — an N.C. State pledge who visited Florida last weekend — both plan to make their final decisions Monday.

If he had some prior connection with UF, his schtick would be easier to take. But right now he sounds like a used car salesman. I really hope I have to eat those words in a year or two. '
