A shame about Robinson. Definite bust for UF. Needs to get his rear end on straight if he thinks he's got a prayer of making anything in the NFL.

I've received a strange email with what appears to encrypted text. I mention it here only because a Gator logo was embedded in the header. Something may be afoot.... There apparently is still a clandestine group of Gator rebels, and I am still, probably by mistake, on their mailing list. From what I've been able to gather, Polly is in fact still alive in South America, however in very poor health.

UF lands 19th verbal commitment By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent Published: Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 2:52 p.m. Last Modified: Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 2:52 p.m. Florida’s 2016 football recruiting class continues to grow and gain momentum heading into the fall. The Gators landed Dade City Pasco cornerback Jayvaughn Myers on Tuesday. He is UF’s fifth 2016 verbal commitment and sixth overall pledge in the last 12 days. Myers, who announced his decision on Twitter, is an Under Armour All-American and rated a four-star prospect by ESPN. Other sites have him as a three-star recruit, but he holds offers from more than 22 schools, including Auburn, Florida State, Miami and Oklahoma. Myers was offered by the Gators in late April and visited UF three times in two weeks during the month of June. He attended Friday Night Lights on July 24 with his half-brother, five-star wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers of Tampa Catholic. Craig-Myers’ recruitment is considered a battle between Auburn and FSU, but his brother’s commitment to the Gators will improve their chances. Florida now has 19 members in its 2016 class, which is ranked 13th nationally by Rivals and 247Sports. Just read that Myers decommitted. Makes Nate a tougher pull, I should think.

One of the reasons I've stopped following recruiting closely. Back in the 90's when the Internet was still quite young for things like recruiting, it was fun. Kids use to, for the most part, commit and mean it. Now days committing to a program simply means you are the current favorite.

I always enjoy a game called by Vern and Gary I like Verne, but then again, I remember him from his days when he was at the top of his game. He was a sports anchor in Dallas and did a lot of Cowboys games. These days, the game he is calling often has no relation to the game he is watching. Time for him to hang it up, I think.

agreed on lundquist. his voice is comfortable and his 'less is more' style of describing action has always been my preference, but in the last 2-3 years he either misses or mis-communicates too much. i've always been a big fan of danielson as a game analyst. he's good at pointing out things you don't notice or didn't know, whether its on replays or the kind of plays teams are/aren't making. as opposed to some analysts who, on every replay, start with 'look at this' or 'watch this'. duh. they just use more words on what i've already seen and don't bring anything new.

-Will Grier is in class and doing very well, no transfer.
-Demarcus Robinson has been cleared by the seniors to play. If he's too big for his britches thinking about the NFL, I'd leave him on the bench.
-Vern Lundquist has lost a step or two. Fortunately, he has Gary Danielson, the best color guy in the game, to bail him out when he gets lost.
-Like so many of UF's early commitments, Myers was undervalued and lightly recruited. I always expect recruits like this to look around when their senior season catches up to what UF knew all along. Fortunately, UF has no problem recruiting DBs. For some reason, his brother looks like the old FSU silent commit type to me. I'd be wary if he committed to UF. Just like UF has been doing at other positions, I'd keep recruiting until the WR Myers is slotted out of the class.
