Given the coaching change, I'm not concerned about any recruit, including Corral. Yes, I'm concerned he won't stick, but Mullen has shown he can win big with a Leak or Tebow at QB. If Corral sticks which will be known soon since he's an early enrollee, Mullen would tailor his offense to fit his abilities like he did with Leak. Justin Fields should go to UGALY if he wants to ride the bench for 2 years, but from all I've read, he is the ideal fit for the spread option. Mullen offered a highly rated spread option JUCO QB this week so I suspect he knows Fields isn't visiting or coming. Of course, if Mullen wrangles a visit out of him, anything can happen. He's an early enrollee and he is private with comments so there won't be much drama either way. I read that Fields decided to not be an EE. If that's the case, that's big for both FSU and UF. If so, that is huge news. With Frenchie back next year and James Blackman being seasoned and groomed for the future, can't imagine Frenchie would try come off that injury and go pro, UF makes the most sense to me.

Francois may never recover from that injury, and Blackman will need to learn a new system all over again. I’m not sure the decision is quite as cut and dry. One thing is for certain though, Fromm at UGA is cemented in as the starter.

He won the starting job before being injured, like Francois, in the first quarter of the at ND game. Fromm is an excellent field general, but he must improve in the passing game with seniors Chubb and Michel graduating.

I know his was a complex knee injury and I wondered at the time if he could return to the kind of game he was capable of before, cutting and turning on a time. Hate to see a young kid lose a career over a terrible injury, even if he is a Nole.

Kid hasn’t made all of he best decisions though off the field....and rumors are starting to fly concerning his leadership. Granted, our coach wasn’t the most shining example of that down the stretch either....so hopefully Taggart brings some new attitude.

If he can make it back it could be an interesting few years coming up. Francois making plays for FSU with his legs and Miami moving into the mobile QB play as well. With Jarren Williams coming in early to compete in the spring with Rosier and N'kosi Perry, I cannot conceive of Rosier winning the QB battle next year.

No disrespect to Tennessee or Andrew Spivey's opinion, but I think Alabama is the biggest threat for Jacob Copeland: www.gatorcountry.com/feature/copeland-explains-why-the-florida-gators-will-get-his-last-visit/So long as UF gets his last visit, I like the Gators chances. Copeland grew up a Gators fan in addition to being committed before McElwain got the axe. Copeland in the slot would be outstanding. He's terrific with the ball in his hands. However, the reason Mullen isn't offering another slot receiver is that UF has a good one already on campus, Kadarius Toney who played in the slot and wildcat before being injured. I'd feel real good about having Copeland and Toney sharing the slot position.

C'yontai Lewis (TE) announced he'll return for his redshirt senior season. After UF's bad year, this was expected. Lewis has all the tools to be an excellent TE in blocking and in passing IF UF puts a QB on the field who can get the ball out to the TE and WRs. He didn't scratch the surface of his potential in 2017, not doing near as well as his previous seasons. If he is going to elevate himself to an NFL player, this is his $$$ season. I hope he makes the best of his last chance. He is the cousin of bama RB Bo Scarbrough.

If the kid can make his freshman 15 goal, I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do as a true freshman starter. As I stated in an earlier post here, I expect him to be at his best for early playing time at 220, but 217 would be close enough. If he can't put the good weight on in the freshman 15, I wouldn't want to risk his future getting injured as a smallish dual threat QB trying to play against SEC defenses. Even if he waits until a bit later in the season, that would be fine. Chris Leak, UF's last starting true freshman, didn't win the starting job as I recall until game 3:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Emory Jones is officially a Gator. The 4-star quarterback and top-50 overall recruit enrolled early at Florida this weekend, moving into his dorm on Saturday night. Jones is one of eight mid-year enrollees who begin classes Monday. The first order of business for the 6-foot-3, 202-pound signal caller? The freshman 15. “The first thing they said is they want to get me up to 217 [pounds],” Jones told SEC Country during Under Armour All-America week. “They want me to work hard and compete. They told me it’s going to be hard for a freshman to come in and start, so I know I have to get to work, compete with a lot of guys there now. I’m ready for it.”

Gators WR Targets Prioritized: www.seccountry.com/florida/florida-recruiting-wr-targetsI know Anthony Schwartz committed to Auburn at the Army All-Star game, but the kid is from Florida, had UF in the lead before the McElwain firing, and he wants to play football plus be on the track team. There are no better track teams in America than the UF. If he makes his way to UF for an official visit, I can see him flipping to UF. The problem is he is ideal for the slot and that is the spot #1 recruit Jacob Copeland is penciled in for if he pulls the trigger for UF. Should Watkins pull the trigger on his visit this weekend, Schwartz may not get the chance to change his mind. JMHO, he should have visited his dream school since the coaching change, UF, rather than focusing on the coaching staff changes.

Wasn't he the one you were asking me about several months ago, about whether Miami wanted him or not? I think they did finally give him an offer but everything I've heard he has always been basically a back up, plan B kind of a guy. True track guy who happens to play football instead of a really fast football player.
