It's a well deserved honor. It couldn't happen to a more pleasant and likeable person. The television broadcasts are on a bit of a delay from live, but I'll listen to Mick when I find the tv announcers to be less than adequate. It often happens on ESPN, but I do like Gary Danielson/CBS. I knew Jerry Pate in our middle teens. He was a jerk back then, but he was a heckuva golfer, not a bad basketball player too as I covered him when we played pickup ball in PE and out of school. He was lucky to marry one of the pretty/nice Nelson sisters which I hope mellowed him over the years. I don't disagree. I don't like Mick nearly as much as I like Gene Deckerhoff (who I'm pretty sure is in the Hall as well), but the voices are iconic. Gene is starting to get a little slower as he gets older. Gonna miss him when he decides to hang it up.

Florida scheduled a 2 for 1 with South Florida. The Bulls are a good non-P5 FBS team in the American Athletic Conference. South Florida won the last two Birmingham Bowls over South Carolina (16) and Texas Tech (17) plus have played Florida State twice, Illinois, Maryland, and Syracuse in out of conference play. The Bulls are coached by ex-Gators DC Charlie Strong who has done very good at South Florida, poorly at Texas, and very good at Louisville:

2022 in Gainesville 2023 in Tampa (Raymond James Stadium) 2025 in Gainesville
It isn't the out of region home and home I was hoping for, but it isn't Miami again which I would disapprove of. The Gators do open with Miami in Orlando in 2019.

Robbie Andreu at the Gainesville Sun examined UF's 2018 roster. If UF doesn't take in any senior transfers who can play immediately or lose anymore players before the season starts, the Gators will kickoff with 79 ship players. I'd prefer that number to be 83-85, but it is what it is for the 2018 season.
UF is looking to take in a large recruiting class in 2019, say 26-27 recruits. Hopefully UF will be closer to 85 when the 2019 season rolls around.

When the Director's Cup comes out after college baseball is done, UF will be in 3rd place. This from Pat Dooley's Back Nine:
"Do you feel kind of lost? There’s nothing orange and blue to cheer for. No more baseball. Softball feels like it ended a month ago. Football is still so far away you can’t even make it out in the distance. What are we supposed to do, read a book? Build something? That’s the thing about Gator sports, for close to 10 months out of the year, there is always something and usually it is played at a high level. For Gator fans, you enter most journeys — whether it be hoops or baseball or track or volleyball — with the hopes of a national title. Sometimes, they might not be realistic, but that’s what fans are for. The great Mary Howard over at the athletic department offers up this stat on the previous athletic year — 12 of the 21 sports finished in the top five nationally. Which means that more than half of the programs had a shot. That’s amazing. Now if UF can only get this football thing straightened out, the Gators might really have something."
12 of 21 sports finishing in the top 5 nationally is impressive.
JMHO, Dan Mullen will "get this football thing straightened out" sooner rather than later. Vegas has the over/under for wins at 7.5, but I think UF has a chance to rack up 9 regular season wins.

Where do you see the 9 wins? Wins: Charleston Southern - Gimme Kentucky - 32 in a row to tie Oklahoma for 3rd longest consecutive win streak over major team in history Colorado State - The Rams are a better team than most think, but a win at Tennessee - UF has been better than UT for the past 12 years save the hiccup in Knoxville 2 years ago LSU - Tigers barely beat an injured UF squad with 10 suspended players last season at Vanderbilt - typical dores with good D and little O Missouri - UF isn't going to lose 2 homecoming games in a row + has better talent South Carolina - UF has better talent than the gamecocks Idaho - Gimme Losses: at Mississippi State - Wouldn't surprise me if the bulldogs and LSU switched columns as both teams have as many unknowns as UF Georgia in Jax - Can't wait to see the affect of the poodles playing without Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, but UGALY is as talented as anyone in the nation at Florida State - Too soon in Mullen tenure for a win in Tallahassee, but might be the best time to get it with both programs in change mode I reserve the right to make a final prediction after summer camp, but that's the way I see it for now. I think Vegas is a bit low with the over/under at 7.5. The above puts UF at 9-3 (6-2) finishing a game or two behind UGALY in the SEC East.

Fair enough....although I think you’re a bit too confident regarding LSU and South Carolina. And I think UF has a talent gap on the roster when you get to the 2 deep. Mullen is a good coach though.

LSU and South Carolina are in The Swamp. I'm taking the Gators to have a rebound season.
