It's a well deserved honor. It couldn't happen to a more pleasant and likeable person. The television broadcasts are on a bit of a delay from live, but I'll listen to Mick when I find the tv announcers to be less than adequate. It often happens on ESPN, but I do like Gary Danielson/CBS.  

I knew Jerry Pate in our middle teens. He was a jerk back then, but he was a heckuva golfer, not a bad basketball player too as I covered him when we played pickup ball in PE and out of school. He was lucky to marry one of the pretty/nice Nelson sisters which I hope mellowed him over the years. 

I don't disagree. I don't like Mick nearly as much as I like Gene Deckerhoff (who I'm pretty sure is in the Hall as well), but the voices are iconic.

Gene is starting to get a little slower as he gets older. Gonna miss him when he decides to hang it up.

Florida scheduled a 2 for 1 with South Florida. The Bulls are a good non-P5 FBS team in the American Athletic Conference. South Florida won the last two Birmingham Bowls over South Carolina (16) and Texas Tech (17) plus have played Florida State twice, Illinois, Maryland, and Syracuse in out of conference play. The Bulls are coached by ex-Gators DC Charlie Strong who has done very good at South Florida, poorly at Texas, and very good at Louisville:

Robbie Andreu at the Gainesville Sun examined UF's 2018 roster. If UF doesn't take in any senior transfers who can play immediately or lose anymore players before the season starts, the Gators will kickoff with 79 ship players. I'd prefer that number to be 83-85, but it is what it is for the 2018 season.

UF is looking to take in a large recruiting class in 2019, say 26-27 recruits. Hopefully UF will be closer to 85 when the 2019 season rolls around.

Adam Shuler is 6'4"/270. He started in 10 of 13 games last season for the Mountaineers. He made the All-Big 12 Freshman 2nd Team in 16 after having redshirted in 15. He'll add quality depth for the Dline. He is ship player #80 for the 18 season so long as UF has no other transfers in or loses any players before the 18 kickoff. He's from Florida so he considers himself coming home.

I've seen him listed between 6'7"-6'8"/255. He is the #4 rated JUCO prospect and the #1 rated JUCO TE in the 18 class. He originally signed with Arkansas in 2016 to play baseball so he appears to be very athletic. He will enroll at the end of the month. He has 3 years to play 3 years including the 2018 season.

I like the way the roster is beginning to shape up. RB Malik Davis has been cleared for action to boot. I'm hoping we don't lose any players between now and the opening game kickoff. After signing short in the 18 class, to have 81 ship players going into the season would be very good for the Gators.

Jalon Jones is going to be a stud at QB. He's listed at 6'3"/205 so I'm thinking he'll be playing in the 220-225 range for UF. He comes from an athletic family so he has the right genes:

When the Director's Cup comes out after college baseball is done, UF will be in 3rd place. This from Pat Dooley's Back Nine:

Sometimes, they might not be realistic, but that’s what fans are for. The great Mary Howard over at the athletic department offers up this stat on the previous athletic year — 12 of the 21 sports finished in the top five nationally. Which means that more than half of the programs had a shot. That’s amazing. Now if UF can only get this football thing straightened out, the Gators might really have something."

12 of 21 sports finishing in the top 5 nationally is impressive.

JMHO, Dan Mullen will "get this football thing straightened out" sooner rather than later. Vegas has the over/under for wins at 7.5, but I think UF has a chance to rack up 9 regular season wins.

There are 3 preferred walkons to boot. With 81 ship players, UF could give these players a one-year ship. Umstead Sanders could earn a full ride at LB, a position of need. It helps that his brother, Trey Sanders out of Bradenton IMG Academy, is a 5 star RB in the 19 class who is very interested in UF.

Fair enough....although I think you’re a bit too confident regarding LSU and South Carolina.

And I think UF has a talent gap on the roster when you get to the 2 deep.
