Hate to lose Powell, but if he will flip the day he gets offered in January then his heart was never in Coral Gables. Think he would have been a solid backup to Duke and Yearby and a good potential slot receiver. Hope he does well at UF. It is hopeless for Miami football. Al is mediocre and has done NOTHING to improve the program. Regular sesaon records. Shannon 2009: 9-3 Shannon 2010: 7-5 Goldie 2011: 6-6 Goldie 2012: 7-5 Goldie 2013: 9-3 Charlie Strong's team schooled the inept Canes holding them to 174 yards. This is progress?

Heard that Lane flipped to FSU today as well. Following Cook or replacing Benjamin.

Lane isn't in the same class of WR as Benjamin. This has been expected. Scout didn't even have him as a UF soft commit. From the senior season Lane had and his underwhelming performance at the UA game, he's overrated and very replaceable. Quincy Wilson tweeted Lane that he is going to shut him down just like he did in high school. UF is probably coming out ahead swapping Ermon Lane for Ryan Sousa with FSU. The skinny is UF is in on another committed FSU WR as well.
Chris Lammons should have stayed with UF. The Gators play a ton of nickel and dime coverage. He wasn't going to beat out Jalen Tabor, but he would have certainly played as a true freshman.
JC Jackson is next to decommit.
All is well in the world of college football recruiting. (chuckle)

Benjamin wasn't Benjamin when he came out of high school. He's been all potential until this year. I like what Lane brings to the table, and while I like Sousa, I like Lane better.
The other WR recruit you guys are on is CJ Worton. It's long been discussed that there may not be enough space in our class for Worton. If FSU wants him, he'll be a Nole. If we don't have space, I think he goes elsewhere.
It's a shame that we have limited space this class, because there is a shitload of very good players who want to play for FSU right now.

Lane will never have Kelvin Benjamin's physical tools. That is what I was referring to. Based on rankings, I'd expect you to say Lane better than Sousa. What I saw in the UA practices shown and the game shows a different Lane than what a 5 star player should look like. Time will tell. FSU's limited space? Limited space to me is the 20-22 range. I don't think FSU falls there. I doubt Jimbo kicks out CJ Worton due to space. It's more likely because the recruit is wavering for some reason. I don't know anything more about CJ Worton than I do about Ryan Sousa. I do know they are good enough to be allowed to commit to FSU. The thing about recruiting is you can never sign them all.

Yes, limited space based on what we need and what we can sign. We can sign up to 31...25 in the class with up to 6 EEs (although I think we were only able to manage 5)...and we have more than 31 who want in. We have to make some difficult decisions because of what we NEED to have this class. For example...if you have 5 fantastic WR who want in, but you only have room for 3 because you need offensive tackles...you only get 3 and two get left out.
We have a few defensive lineman that we have a great shot at...but we only have space for 1 more. In other years, we'd take all 3 and let the numbers shake out how they will.
As for Lane...you can't base his college career on a single set of practices, or games. Sousa wasn't invited to UA....I'll take Lane all day. If he doesn't have the work ethic, he won't last long.
You say that you doubt Jimbo kicks out CJ. We don't "kick" anyone out. However, for several months, folks "in the know" have said that Worton, JoJo Robinson and Wideman probably don't make it in to the class because we have other guys higher on the board. Since then because of how this is shaping up, Worton is right on the line. Don't get me wrong, I like Worton too, but not more than Lane, or JC Jackson.
I mean, hell, at this point, we're trying to figure out how to talk 2-3 guys into greyshirts just so we can get as many in as we can.

P.S. As to Benjamin's tools....who does have them? I mean, let's be honest...a guy like Benjamin doesn't come along every single year.
For us, getting Rashad Greene back is big. We also get Haggins back from injury, and with Whitfield showing flashes....I like where we are at. We don't have anyone ready to compete like Benjamin (Isiah Jones has those kinds of tools, but he's not really ready yet)...but as long as Winston is throwing it, we will be fine.

However and I'll repeat myself, Jimbo Fisher is not the type of coach to withdraw an offer to a currently committed player without cause and numbers not being the cause. I'm glad to see the attempt at greyshirting before NSD rather than turn away players later because of oversigning. Jimbo Fisher is not the type of coach to do that either. Strange. It seems like I'm defending Jimbo Fisher's recruiting ethics better than you are.

Every good program has these problems, but not to this extent...at least so far as I can recall for FSU recruiting in the past 10 years, and FSU recruits with the best of them. Rarely do you turn down high 4 star guys, and that's the position we're in.
And I'm not saying that Jimbo or FSU is telling players, "sorry, you can't sign here"....but with regard to Worton and Robinson, it wouldn't shock me to see coaches say, "Please take all your visits, enjoy the process."
Worton is a talented cat. It makes sense for him to play somewhere that he will see the field. That may or may not be at FSU.

ET, no offense my friend, but it seems like every kid who leaves UF isn't all that and every kid you pick up is all world. I have no problem at all saying I loved Powell. He was the main reason I wasn't that worried about Cook. Kid is very small but he is explosive. Lane is one of the top receivers in Florida this year. The one I really like is Rudolf and both of these kids are going to FSU. I cross my fingers and hope Jameis takes the money and runs after next season.

How did you get I said the replacements are all world when I stated I knew nothing about Ryan Sousa (committed) and CJ Worton (visit to come)? I didn't say Brandon Powell was better than Cook. They are different backs. I did say Jalen Tabor is better than the CB who just decommitted. I'm right and you'd be right to say I said so. I can only say on Lane what I saw in the UA game and practices. He didn't look like a 5 star player. He ran tentative routes across the middle short arming some passes and went down easily. He's just a Demarcus Robinson clone. At least Robinson has been challenged and will get it worked out of his system. Fulwood is better than Lane.

Standard answer if they leave FSU is they couldn't play anyway. That's akin to saying FSU didn't want them anyway. Both are silly answers.

Such as in Darius Cummings. They aren't always silly answers. Sometimes guys can't crack the lineup and leave to get on the field at another school. I think Worton is a fine football player. Decent speed, good hands, excellent route runner. But if FSU can pull better receivers and Worton sees a better opportunity at a different school...it makes sense for both.

Decent speed, good hands, excellent route runner. But if FSU can pull better receivers and Worton sees a better opportunity at a different school...it makes sense for both. Darious Cummings isn't a good example. He went FSU as a freshman, to a JUCO, and then to UF as a junior and now a rising senior. He was consistently in UF's 2 deep last year and will likely be again in the 14 season. I gather FSU wanted him at DT which was correct and he wanted DE. Now, at 6'2"/310, it's a no brainer where he should play. Besides, I know you will agree, only a few true freshmen DTs are impact players. I don't have an interest and frankly don't care what Worton does. UF is doing the same thing as FSU tryting to recruit good WRs. However, UF isn't telling a single commit to look around for a better opportunity because they want to bring in a better player. For example, Chris Lammons left when Jalen Tabor committed. UF wanted both, would have kept both players, and could have played both players in our nickel and dime packages and on special teams. I don't believe Worton is looking around because FSU told him to explore other opportunities as his ship offer may go away. There has to be something else going on. Maybe after NSD something will pop up.
