All 24 members of Florida's 2014 football recruiting class are now enrolled.
The 14 signees who didn't enroll early reported to UF this week for the Summer B semester, which starts Monday.
Defensive tackle Thomas Holley was the last player to arrive in Gainesville, but he may be one of the first true freshmen to see the field this fall.
Coaches are still trying to fill the void left by Dominique Easley and the position lacks depth behind seniors Darious Cummings and Leon Orr.
The Gators have numbers with versatile linemen Jonathan Bullard and Joey Ivie and redshirt freshmen Jay-nard Bostwick and Caleb Brantley, but Florida coach Will Muschamp has said there's a dropoff between the starters and backups.
This opens the door for Holley to make an impact in 2014. At 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, the Under Armour All-American and former basketball player should be physically capable of handling college competition.
If he can get down the mental aspect of the game, his emergence would give the Gators a boost inside and allow Bullard and Ivie to play end exclusively.
Holley believes he and his fellow incoming freshmen, a group that was a consensus top-10 class, have the talent to turn around UF's program.
“Florida doesn't recruit certain kids for no reason,” Holley said. “With this class coming in, I know we're going to be a dominant force in the SEC. I'm prepared.”
Outside of defensive tackle, the only positions counting on freshman contributions are quarterback and cornerback, where the Gators lost two players via transfer and three to the NFL.
They now have signing-day flip Treon Harris to compete for the No. 2 QB job against fellow U.S. Army All-American Will Grier and redshirt sophomore Skyler Mornhinweg. At corner, Deiondre Porter, J.C. Jackson and Quincy Wilson join the mix for playing time with early enrollees Duke Dawson and Jalen Tabor.
“The coaches expect me to learn fast and get out there and start making plays,” Wilson said.
UF signed seven offensive linemen in the class, highlighted by offensive tackle David Sharpe. With three seniors and possibly junior D.J. Humphries leaving after next season, Sharpe knows he must develop fast.
“They need a lot of help on the line,” he said. “We've got a lot of guys coming in, so I think that we will change the program around quick. I want to help any way I can at the left tackle position.”
