I find it odd that one can pay for dinner and a movie, and then "get it free".......however if you skip dinner and a movie but spend the same amount, you can go to jail.

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Buckeyes have hired Greg Schiano as their new Assoc HC/DC. A bit of irony since he is replacing Chris Ash, who went to Rutgers but I am not sure how to feel about this hire just yet. I never thought he was all that great a coach and his personality is even worse than his coaching. Interesting, though, I guess.

I think it's BS, and a name hire as opposed to a needs hire...Schiano was a LB as a player, not a DB...basic D schemes, but I thought we needed a DB coach to replace Ash...we have a ... a ... maybe CUFM knows something we don't... Is Luke leaving, but its just been low key? Hmmmm, this might prove to be interesting... (Idle speculation only...I have no insider ... just thinking out loud)

All I remember of his time here in Tampa was him instructing his defense to go after Eli Manning on a kneel down and his defense being bad. Historically bad.

Schiano will coach one year or two and then he will move on to a head coaching gig as Meyers assistants tend to do

In college, you stopped by the loft and get a medium 1 topping pizza for $2.50 and a bottle of boones farm wine for $1.99 on a saturday night and you were good to go back to the dorms__Unfortunately AW didnt go that route

Not a Bucs fan either, except in 2002...I thought it was kinda neat having the Bucks and Bucs as champions, especially with Gruden coaching. I hope this thing with Schiano works out ... it will be interesting to see how he works with the rest of the staff.

I obviously have some doubts but am willing to see how it goes.

I obviously have some doubts but am willing to see how it goes. I'm trying to think back to how many former d-1 head coaches have subsequently served as assistant coaches at osu. Can't think of one off the top of my head. Schiano's approach didn't work in the pros but what he did while at Rutgers was pretty impressive. That experience combined w recruiting ties in Florida and nj are definitely pluses. I wonder about the dynamic of how he will work when the buck doesn't stop with him but I think coaches adjust in terms of staff hierarchy better than fans think they do. He has a great cfb track record. Looking forward to his contribution to the program.
