Lou Holtz picks Notre Dame over Ohio State in Fiesta Bowl
Count former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz among those picking the Irish to beat Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.Holtz, who coached Notre Dame to its last national championship in 1988, explained his reasoning on Golf Channel's "Morning Drive:""Ohio State's going to be disappointed," Holtz said. "They're not in the playoff, everybody thought they would be, they aren't even in the Rose Bowl, they took Iowa instead. So I don't think Ohio State is going to be real motivated, though I will say this, there's not a better motivator than Urban Meyer. And if anybody can get Ohio State ready, it'd be Urban Meyer."

I'm not sure if I agree with the slanting defensive fronts as being the main reason why the Bucks didn't meet last years lofty offensive numbers, despite the fact that osu still led the league in scoring. I'd say the bigger issue was that we didn't adjust quickly enough. But items 2 and 3? I couldn't possibly agree more. Thought that was cardale' biggest struggle, not recognizing the defender in the slot cheating toward the los, and either adjusting the play call or taking advantage of that move. And safeties crashing downhill toward the los was a huge strategy vs osu all season long. And we rarely targeted the middle of the field on any level short, medium or long. Noah brown's potential to replace devin smith was missed. Paris Campbell didn't contribute the way many thought he might. And we just didn't give Thomas Miller and Marshall enough chances to display their talents. The Michigan game adjustment, you hope, was a sign. We were more diverse on first down without forgetting to get the ball to the workhorse. Warriner remains among the best oline coaches in the country. I'd like to see how it works long terms with both him and beck in the booth.

I keep coming back to the shortfall of CUFM not being able to adequately pass along his vision for his offense to his CO- OCs. I don't think we would need both upstairs if that was done properly.

Combination of a couple different posts about team's travels, etc for the Fiesta Bowl...
What is team's schedule leading up to the bowl game? — BuckeyesRUs Right now the team is practicing and they have final exams this week. There is a media day on Thursday and we'll talk to some of the coaches and players in the afternoon. Players will head home for the holidays on Dec. 21 after a morning practice and they will return to Columbus on the 26th. The team then departs for the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 27.
When do we expect the announcement of travel plans, practice site, hotel, etc for Fiesta Bowl? They're traveling on the 27th and staying at the Princess Resort. Probably practicing at the same HS as before.

crunching some numbers... Currently, EZE has 1672 yd rushing this season (net). The season rushing record is Eddie with 1927. Zeke needs a 255 yd game against the Irish to tie for the season. Currently, Zeke is tied with Eddie for career 200 yd rushing games... This (^^^) would give him the school record... As long as we're looking for BIG numbers...Eddie also holds the single game record with 314 yd on 36 carries, followed by Byars with 274/39 carries, and Eze with 274/23....
Let's hope for a GREAT start to a good new year...

estimated 5th or 6th round should keep him at OSU for another year. The crop of available receivers is getting better. however, the 2-3 that are MIA at the moment is still a bit of hindrance. And urban the meyer seems to have forgotten that a tight end is a legal receiver.
