Ahem...........50 for my prize pupil thank you very much you're going to get a debate from me on that number. he started his first game as a frosh in the '92 opener (louisville?) then broke his ankle that week before game 2 and sat out the rest of the season. he returned in '93 as a starter and kept the job for 4 years... 49 straight. so i guess he started in 50 straight that he was dressed, but not 50 straight osu games. this is kinda like masturbation......you get the end result you wanted.........but by yourself

A little different this year... 99 Daniell, James.................................1941 Fickell, Luke................................ 1992-96 McCray, Michael........................ 1986-88 Merrick, Mike...................................1993 Miller, Nick................................. 1980-81 Moore, Jimmy............................ 1976-78 Niswander, Brent.............................1985 O’Rourke, Larry.................................1974 Queen, Heath............................. 1997-00 Pfister, Mark............................... 1983-84 Richardson, Jay.......................... 2002-06 Spellman, Alonzo....................... 1989-91 Terry, Curtis......................................2008 Tyree, Andree...................................2001 Weiland, Jeff...................................1975 Willis, William K........................ 1942-44 All the players listed in the Ohio State archives as wearing #99 over the years...My Fav 3... If you like one of the others better than you like my choice, feel free to add more pix...keeps things interesting... thx for posting, dale. i'd have to start w/bill willis. he broke boundaries on both the college and pro level, and is in both hof's. there may not have been a more incredible physical specimen at osu than alonzo spellman, though he proved to have some demons. hard not to admire fick. 49 straight starts, and in the '97 rose bowl played the entire game with a completely torn pec. never came out of the game. had surgery a couple days later. nails. I went with Big Jim Daniell over Willis, due to his putting off his careers in both the NFL & family business to enlist in the Navy after his 1941, All-America season. Spellman was just a stud, as you mentioned, and LF, besides being pretty danged good, you have to go with as a Buckeye for his loyalty...No losers on the list, just personal opinion/favorites.

JUST in case the start of the countdown wasn't enough to whet your appetite... If they would use a hard rock/metal tune for the background once in awhile rather than using hip hop/rap, I would view it more often.

Quick question for any of you Buckeyes, but the NE branch for sure...D'Andrea is a fairly popular name...google turns up all kinds of stuff... NE Ohio is also know for its ... 'family' ties we'll say. But the bottom line question is, is the Mike D'Andrea who played for JT at all related to the Mike D'Andrea who played for Earle? The older model was listed on the rosters as from Akron, the latest from Avon Lake...only about 60 miles away, I think...anyone know?

WOW...Doing research for tomorrow's 96...I ran across a link to Mark Rea (Rea's Day Blog, you may recall seeing them in the past, BIG Buckeye stuff). Anyways, it eventually opened up his facebook page, and as the last blog entry I'd found was from early in the 2014 season, I was going to ask if he'd retired, or planned to continue his blog, if only somewhere else. FORTUNATELY, I read some of his facebook page prior to posting/messaging him. I found that about a year ago, he lost his wife of 20 years. WOW...sometimes it is good to pry a little bit...I'd have been embarrassed...

Big brother of future Buckeye & Brown, Jim Houston. Side note, played for Paul Brown in HS @ Massillon, Ohio State, and the Browns. (BTW, that's Lin up there at the top middle) Attachment DeletedJake McQuaide...I had a hard time choosing a third on this one...Because of the recent attention to Nate Ebner, and finding out that Jake has been with the Rams now for five years, I chose him. Not 100% sure, but it seems to me that we have like 3-4 long snappers in the NFL...Add Ebner, recall "Barn" Childress, and we do a pretty good job of developing the "different" guys for the NoFunLeague as well...

5 years ago today, the osu football program was in a suddenly rather unsteady place. this is the day that tressel handed in his 'resignation' over the trinkets for tattoos affair. he was far from perfect, but he was in a record-setting run of 6 straight big 10 titles, a 5-3 record in bcs bowl games (6-4 overall), 3 bcs titles games and the '02 title. not many of us who've followed the program were worried that osu wouldn't be successful in the future, tho the short term prospects were anything but rosy. that said, imho what's happened under meyer's leadership has exceeded expectations. certainly mine. buckeye football has, literally, never been in a better place or amidst a better run, and that includes woody.
there were plenty who didn't think meyer would fit, that his persona wasn't right for ohio state, and i certainly had my share of questions. but i think he has matured as a man as well as a coach and it shows.
