JuJu is making this USCw class an even bigger factor. Wow...Amazing job by Sark to land all three. USC just went from Ho-Hum to top 10. Too bad they still can't build any depth, but still a nice haul..

Too bad they still can't build any depth, but still a nice haul.. I agree. If USCw can stay relatively injury free then they could regain their flagship spot. Of course they're already the all time PAC flagship, but they've been losing ground lately. That could end with this class.

Depth will continue to be a problem for the next two seasons. Quality is a strong point, but expect 14 and 15 to be below championship caliber play.

Depth will continue to be a problem for the next two seasons. Quality is a strong point, but expect 14 and 15 to be below championship caliber play. In the 14 season, more than 1/3 of the roster will be true or RS freshmen. 14 has two depth holes, seniors and sophomores...Only 11 seniors and 13 sophs. So, I don't expect much. 15 will be the more interesting season. Since Kiffin frontloaded the '15 class, it actually will have a respectable, (21) number of seniors. If the 14 recruiting class can contribute and the 15 r-class is similarly stellar, it would make the 15 season verrrrry interesting. Still a young team, but with much better depth in the senior class. The killer is still the 13 class....so this year's class needs to step up and fill that void to make 15 successful.

Practice report:
One day in pads, two season ending knee injuries. Starting DE Jubari Ruffin and OL Kenny Bigelow.
I'm starting to get a really bad feeling about this season....

Rough start Walt. I hope it doesn't turn into an epidemic. USC can't afford too many of the season ending variety injuries.

I learned how many players it takes to make a good college team tick...and it's more than 61, that's for certain. Meanwhile, a week into fall camp and USC is down 3 starters for the season already.

I take no pleasure in having been right. Living with a similar UF probation from the mid 80s, I just had more experience with NCAA probation sanctions. USC is needed to perform at high levels in the PAC and nationally. Unfortunately, I still think it will be the 16 season before USC is completely back to normal in terms of talent, experience, and roster numbers. To be sure, USC will be better in 15, but not the national championship competitive level that we had once again become accustomed to in the early to late 00s. I also don't think USC did itself any favors by appealing/delaying the sanctions. USC would be fully back to normal in the 15 season. The prospects you don't look forward to this season would have been last season.

In hindsight, I agree, but on paper, the team in place at the time of the appeal looked to be pretty awesome, (and they were, it turned out, preseason #1 going into that year's play) so I can understand why it was decided to take the gamble. I'm inclined to agree with you about '15 as well.

Okay, it was just Fresno State, but get this..... USC ran 105 offensive plays. 105! Sark's "hurry up" O seems to be for real. We will see what happens when it runs into a defense that 1) is better, and 2) has seen film of the scheme and can game plan for it.
Pity poor FSU. They were overmatched physically AND had no idea what USC was going to run. I was very impressed with the youngsters that played.
This is a very young squad, but they hammered the Dogs.
