walter's continuing raging meltdown is quite stupendous. Surprised he hasn't weaved the words fascist, dictator, or the name Hitler into the thread...

So...you were not a math major. That is evident. Thanks for confirming. Those are YOUR numbers, Ding-Dong. Yeah, I didn't major in math because of my score on the National Merit Test, 100th percentile in math. A five hour Algebra class with lab would only give me 2 hours credit due to my scores. So yeah, challenge me on math. Now explain to me how my posting the actual IRS data, from three different sources over several months, makes it "my numbers." They have proven, during the Biden administration, that the middle class benefited the most from the Trump tax cuts. I know you don't like it but quit being a little bitch and man up for once. Don't tell me. Lemme guess. You tutored students at an Ivy League school too! I posted the stats on tax savings taken from the numbers you posted. How about responding on it and stop stonewalling? Here it is again. Using the 2024 tax brackets (using married filing joint) $50-90K tax = 12% - A 13.2% reduction is 1.58% savings = $790 (at the min.) Over $690K =37% - a 5.8% reduction is a 2.15% savings = $14,807 (at the min.).

That 13% cut along with bonus from employer and wage increase from same meant more to me and people like me. A rising tide lifts all boats to quote a famous democrat who got it right.

It not only got them more money, it got them a higher % than you received. 36% more. If cane's numbers are accurate, for every $1.58 you saved, they saved $2.15. If you are okay with that, and you are, then so be it. But trying to tell us it was not a tax cut that primarily benefitted the rich is like saying Trump's failed attempt at repealing Obamacare is what saved it.

First, the only tutoring I did in school was in Biochem and I never have even stepped on an Ivy League campus. Second, I don't think you can take 2018-19 data and try to challenge it using 2024 tax brackets. What about the changes in things like the Standard Deduction? How did you account for that?

Middle Class Americans Saw Biggest Tax Reduction from Trump Tax Cuts That’s the truth. I'm middle class. the $10k cap on deductions for state/local income and property taxes has literally killed me since that was enacted. Perhaps so and a drift from your point but ............... Almost 90% of the folks take the Standard deduction. Salt deduction is all about leaving some meat on the taxpayer bone and letting the State and local take their pound, permitting states the fiscal room to spend.
Q might be do we need a SALT deduction, period. And if we do, is that deduction the best way to accomplish the objective. Other countries with federal systems do not have anything like a SALT deduction. Of course, we might be getting it right, while Canada, Germany, and Australia are screwing it up.
The SALT deduction is one tool for redistributing tax revenue, but most working people and those older, don’t have access to it, because they don’t itemize their tax deductions to be able to qualify for it. And then there are those who live in moderate/low tax State/locals, those w little left on their mortgage, maybe retired at a middle class level, who have no need.

AND HOW MUCH IS THE RICH GUY PAYING COMPARED TO THE POOR GUY??? Geez, you are dumb. Using the numbers 12% and 37%, the rich guy's tax rate is 3.08 times what the poor guy's rate is. After your calculations, the poor guy pays at a rate of 10.41%, and the rich guy pays 34.85%, which is 3.35 times the poor guy's rate. The poor guy got a bigger tax cut.

Envy and class are European and left of center constructs. Since there are many times more like me tha the few you want me to be jealous of a punish , America benefits greatly from people like me having more money to save and spend . Take your class struggles and hate fueling envy back to Europe where it belongs and let our economy grow

The doubling of the standard tax bracket and of the per child tax credit benefitted the working and middle class far more than the wealthy.

I had it wrong all along. It is the rich who are the victims! We should cut taxes for the rich MORE, and we poor and middle class people need to step up, suck it up, and pay more. We need to pay our fair share. Hell, half the people do not pay any tax at all. That needs to change, and hopefully the GOP can make that happen, for the good of our great nation. Come on, everyone! Let's MAGA!!

Some things will never change. You'll always be an asshole. Should we cut the taxes of the rich or not? We should cut taxes for everyone across the board and not discriminate against anyone.
