I can see a Gator win coming in Red Stick:
LSU counting on youth to stay in contention The Associated Press

The reasons to doubt LSU's ability to contend for Southeastern Conference and national titles this season start with the 11 regulars who left school early last winter to turn pro.
The Tigers had a school-record eight defensive players drafted, and will have four new starters on the defensive line alone.
Coach Les Miles says the Tigers are counting on major contributions from incoming freshmen who were recruited to play right away and chose LSU for such an opportunity.
The offense has retained many skill players, including quarterback Zach Mettenberger, as well as top receivers and running backs, and hopes new coordinator Cam Cameron can make the passing game more productive in 2013.
As for LSU's underdog status, Miles responds that he likes his team's chances "in every game."

Just MY humble opinion:
The thing that will prevent LSU from going much farther in the SEC race AND probably wont allow them to beat Bama, is something you can only see when you go to the games live. The safeties...and I realize they don't have any seniors...just can't figure out the coverages. At least a half dozen times, I've seen the strong safety do a 360 at mid-field, trying to figure out which receiver he's supposed to help with. They've gotten by with it, due to a couple of butter-fingered receivers, and just piss poor passes, but THIS will catch up with them by the end of the season. By the time the receivers make their first juke, and break toward their zones, both safeties SHOULD know their assignments.

Too bad this team is not the one that played 2 weeks ago, or bammer would no longer be #1. That still doesn't take away from LSU doing to Johnathan Foosball what the bumpkins could NOT do.

Man down and man up time for LSU at DT:
Ross Dellenger| rdellenger@theadvocate.com
Aug. 08, 2014
LSU has sustained its first significant injury of fall camp.
Defensive tackle Quentin Thomas is expected to miss the 2014 season with a torn biceps, a source told The Advocate on Friday.
Thomas, a redshirt junior from Breaux Bridge, is listed as a starter and was expected to see substantial playing time for the first time in his career this year. He suffered the injury during Wednesday’s practice and will undergo at least six months of rehabilitation, the source said.
Coach Les Miles, through a team spokesman, only confirmed that Thomas suffered an injury. No other details were revealed. Thomas was not seen at Thursday’s practice and was not present during Friday’s open portion of drills.
A backup to Ego Ferguson in 2013, Thomas had nine tackles in 11 games played. He started in the Outback Bowl when Ferguson did not make the trip to Tampa, Florida. LSU players did not confirm the news during interviews Friday, but spoke about the prospect of replacing the 6-foot-4, 303-pound Thomas.
“He’s a great friend of mine,” said Christian LaCouture, expected to be the other starting defensive tackle. “I felt terrible when I heard about it. Somebody’s got to step up.”
Redshirt freshman Greg Gilmore is listed as Thomas’ backup on LSU’s preseason depth chart. Frank Herron and Maquedius Bain are also expected to vie for his starting gig.
Thomas was in a battle during fall camp to keep the starting position. Still, he was expected to have large role after the departures of starting linemen Ferguson and Anthony Johnson.
A three-star prospect out of Breaux Bridge High, Thomas redshirted his freshman season in 2011. He played in three games in 2012.
“He’s a good kid,” said Paul Broussard, Thomas’ coach at Breaux Bridge. “It’s a sad thing. He was looking forward to the season.”
The injury leaves LSU low on experience at the tackle position. LaCouture is the only other tackle who’s played significant college snaps. Bain, Herron and Gilmore all redshirted last season, their true freshman year.
The trio was a part of LSU’s 2013 class. All of them were rated four stars by 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
“We came into together,” Bain said Friday. “We pushy each other. It’s up to Coach Brick (Haley) and Coach Miles who’s going to get that starting position.”
Herron may have the best shot at taking over for Thomas. He’s wowed teammates and coaches over the summer and during fall camp. Miles called him a “beast” on Wednesday, the same day Thomas was injured.
Either way, defensive end Danielle Hunter will have someone else beside him.
“I’ll trust whoever goes there,” Hunter said.

One thing you can't coach is experience, and LSU is very thin at DT in that department. Hopefully the coaches can figure out a simple(r) scheme while the youngsters get some time under their belts, if they see the need. Losing more players to the NFL than any other SEC team could be a bad thing for the Tigers this year.I won't lose faith, though.
