Gorjak Gak has cleared concussion protocols, has practiced twice, and will play against South Carolina on Wednesday. Our front court just became a little less thin.
So far, there has been no word on John Egbunu, Isaiah Stokes, or Chase Johnson.
EDIT: I watched Mike White's pre-practice presser today:
John Egbunu - he is going through an acclimation period and there is no telling how long it will take or even if he will be back.
Isaiah Stokes - same as Egbunu except I think they are going to redshirt Stokes.
Chase Johnson - is still in and out of having headaches so he hasn't completely recovered from his two concussions. Johnson won't play until he feels better.

Like the USC game, the Gators are living and dying by the 3. Against Baylor, UF had a hot shooting game, but also played defense. Gators 81 Bears 60: floridagators.com/news/2018/1/27/chris-harry-at-the-buzzer-florida-baylor-jan-27.aspxAfter a 1-1 week, it'll be interesting to see if the Gators remain in the top 25. UF's record advanced to 15-6 (6-2). Next up: at UGALY on Tuesday night followed by bama in Gainesville next Saturday. In the Big 12/SEC Challenge, the poodles lost on the road at K State 56-51 while the tide beat #12 Oklahoma 80-73 in Tuscaloosa.

While the NBA scouts were fawning over the PGs at Alabama and Oklahoma, Chris Chiozza proved once again why he is not only the best PG in the SEC he may also be the best player in the SEC so say Pat Dooley at the Gainesville Sun: www.gatorsports.com/2018/01/dooley-chiozza-leaving-little-doubt-secs-best/Chiozza is going to be an interesting pick in the NBA draft as I think he will be a very good NBA PG. He's on the short side, but he has all the other tools to be a success.

John Egbunu will miss at Georgia and Alabama in Gainesville this week even though he is continuing to progress in his rehab.

What could've, would've, should've been: www.gatorsports.com/2018/02/floridas-egbunu-may-need-second-knee-procedure/John Egbunu isn't looking good to play in 2018 at all. Even if Big John said give a shot and let me play with the pain while putting off the procedure until after the season, there isn't any chance Mike White will let him play at less than 100% ready. The only way Egbunu plays in a Gators uniform again is if he seeks a 6th year medical hardship. My guess is he'll continue his recovery in the NBA developmental league or overseas. Chase Johnson has turned into a likely redshirt along with Isaiah Stokes. What you see is what UF has for the rest of the season in the front court. It was good enough with a good defensive team to go to the Elite 8 in 2017. This team doesn't have the same defensive intensity and consistency to do that in 2018. I was so hoping UF would be a national championship caliber team by this point in the season, but it just wasn't meant to be.

UF likely earned their way into March Madness with the 73-52 win in Tuscaloosa. This has been such a Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde season that there is no way to know what to expect from the Gators from game to game.
UF's record is 19-11 (10-7) with UK in Gainesville on Saturday before SEC tourney play next week. The thing that sends UF to March Madness is that the Gators have the third best number of top 75 wins, 9 wins, in the nation. Against the current top 25 in the AP & Coaches polls, UF is a respectable 4-2, will be 5-2 with a win against UK on Saturday in Gainesville plus will have earned a 10th top 75 win.
Dr. Jeckyl must show up consistently if the Gators are to make the deep advance into the tourney that happened in 2017. This team can go from an opening round loss or to the Elite Eight, but I don't have a clue which team will show up from game to game.
It's been so frustrating and disgusting that I have given up on watching this team play. I got roped into the at bama win last night because the baseball game at North Florida, a 4-0 Gators win, finished up so fast, just over 2 hours due to the good pitching on both sides. I fully expected to see UF play stall ball with players standing around bleeding the clock instead of running the offense, little of no defense, and for the Gators to give up another big second half lead, but it didn't happen for a pleasant change.

Beat UK in Gainesville on Saturday and I may start believing in this team again. The game will be on CBS at 12 PM EST. I've seen so much negative with this team that it is exceedingly difficult to believe the Gators can get a regular season sweep over the wildcats. When UF has reached this crossroad in achievement this season, they have usually performed well below expectations. We'll see how it goes against UK on Saturday:
SEC & NCAA Tournaments Outlook - This from floridagators.com:
Let's talk tournaments. That's plural. We'll start with the SEC's, scheduled for next week in St. Louis. The Gators are tied for third place in the league standings with Arkansas, and likely with Kentucky by late Wednesday, assuming the Wildcats' beat Ole Miss at home. If UF beats UK in the regular-season finale Saturday, the Gators will lock up the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament, which means a bye into Friday's third round. Should the Gators lose to Kentucky, the Wildcats get the 3-seed, but Florida still gets that bye if Arkansas loses its game Saturday at Missouri. Under that scenario, UF would hold tiebreakers against the Razorbacks and Tigers (and Mississippi State, if it wins at LSU) — all at 10-8 in league play — based on head-to-head victories earlier in the season.
As for the tournament after that one, Florida bolstered a rock-solid collection of Quadrant 1 victories by adding a ninth by beating Alabama (with its top-75 RPI ranking) on the road. Florida's nine Quad 1 wins stand as the third-most nationally, behind only Kansas (11) and North Carolina (10), and ahead of Virginia and Auburn (8), then Villanova, Tennessee and West Virginia (7). A week ago, after losing at Tennessee, the Gators' RPI tumbled all the way to 67. After these last two wins, they're back up to 45th with a chance to sore even more with a win Saturday.

Dontay Bassett is out for UK with a concussion: www.gatorsports.com/2018/03/bassett-diagnosed-concussion-kentucky/The only chance UF has to win is to play small rotating the 3 bigs remaining and get into a run and gun shootout with UK. The wildcats will dominate the inside while they aren't a good shooting team from beyond the 3 point line. The Gators will have to play like they did the first two weeks of the season, run and gun shooting the 3 on just about every open attempt. The team that gets to 100 first wins. JMHO, that will be the wildcats as 3 bigs is a disaster against UK and the wildcats have so much height and length that they can make life difficult from the 3 point line for the Gators. If the Gators have an off night shooting, UK could win in a rout. I hate being so pessimistic with this team, but they have earned the pessimism with poor play in times like this when a loss is normal and a win is a break through. No, I'm not going to watch the game. If UF wins, great. If UF loses, so what? The Gators know they are already in the NCAA tourney.
