I heard Amedeo Della Valle announced on twitter he's leaving to play ball in Europe. I'd say it's almost certain Ross is a gone. Arrivederci Amedeo Della Valle ... I don't see that as being a huge loss. That kid is a basketball God in Italy. At Ohio St, he was a below average bench player. The going rate for Italy's basketball god is $300,00 for two years. I don't want to sound like a snob, but $150,000 per year before the agent is paid doesn't seem like a lot. I don't think he had much of a furture in Big Ten basketball. I think Matta will find a way to replace his 4 point - 1.76 rebound/game effort.

Mark, did you notice that all of Dayton's players were at least a couple of steps inside of the 3 point line? Dayton dared tOSU to beat them from the outside and the bucknuts couldn't do it. tOSU's streak of 4 Sweet Sixteens in row came to an end. My bracket isn't ruined, but to come out 0-1 isn't confidence building in ones ability. everyone's been employing that d vs us since february. this is the first year that matta hasn't had a couple good consistent outside shooters. this team is gritty, they've played hard, but that lack of a 3 pt threat means a lot of close games. osu actually shot better than ud from deep (3-12 vs 3-13) but we needed at least 1 more. mark scott tosu 81 Mark ... a couple lean recruiting years is partially responsible for not having good shooters, along with early defections. Also, one or 2 guys not panning out is contributing. 2010 & 2011 were good years in so far as getting in highly rated players. 2010 - Sullinger 5*, Thomas 5*, Craft 4*, Sibert 4*, and Smith 3* 2011 - Williams 4*, Ross 4*, Thompson 4*, Scott 4*, and Ash trey McDonald 3* But Della Valle was our best recruit 2012 recruit at 3 stars and now he's gone. Loving (4 stars) is the only player who saw action from the 2013 recruiting class. I think Kameron Williams (shooting guard) took a medical red shirt. I heard ridiculous conversation on the radio about terminating Matta. I understand he has a good class coming in. I think the signing period is sometime in April? I noticed Smith drifted into his old habit at the Dayton game standing at the 3 point line awaiting a kick out pass that he will statically miss (28% - 3 point shooting in Big Ten play). He got away from the in the last couple games of the season. I like his defensive intensity, lack of turnovers and rebounding. Some sound advice someone should have gave Smith at the beginning of the season: YOU CAN'T SHOOT THE 3 BALL CONSISTANTLY ! ! Move around and develop another shot.

Move around and develop another shot. kam had mono at the beginning of the year and missed the first two months, hence the decision to red shirt. from what i've heard, his offensive abilities will fit in nicely next year. sometimes, the pieces work. sometimes they don't as well. next year we will be really young in some spots, but i expect a better season. i think scott is going to have a good year next year manning the point w/o craft there. that michigan big 10 tourney game is an example of what he's capable of. ross (if he returns), thompson and loving make up a good core of swing players. no doubt that williams and mcdonald must step up their games next year in order for osu to return to challenging for the league title. della valle leaving does open up another scholarship, so it will be interesting to see if matta can grab someone, especially in the front court. but this incoming class, even as is, looks like a good one. d'angelo russell is a 6'5 shooting guard, as is williams. keita bates-diop i actually saw play in bloomington, il once (one of my sisters live there) at at 6'7 he has a wingspan like ross. very long. good inside/outside combo game. jae sean tate from pick central here in central ohio i've also seen play and he's another guy that has the potential to play the 2, 3 or 4. matta has 1 big in the class right now; 6'10 dave bell from garfield hts near cleveland. i've not seen him live, but saw some video on him. his build reminds me of ken johnson some. slender. like all of the frosh, he'll need to hit the weights. seemed like he had good feet. but from what i've read, he didn't play hoops at all as a hs freshman, and missed his entire soph yr w/a busted hand. average 18 ppg last year, but just about 12 this year. classic definition of a project. i read in the dispatch over the weekend that matta is targeting a temple transfer, anthony lee, 6'9, who averaged 13 ppg and 9 reb/game. that would be a nice grab of a guy who could play immediately. there's another big out of hs in texas that matta is trying to get in on, along w/every other major program in the country. lol. anyway, this class may end up rivaling the '10 class you listed in terms of talent/accomplishment. we'll see. mark scott tosu 81

No surprise here but Ross officially announces he is going pro. you're right. i wish him well. actually think his game, which is more 1 x 1 and less system-oriented, is a better fit in the show. that means next year's team will be missing its top 3 scorers (ross, smith jr, craft), 2 of its top 3 rebounders (ross, smith), it's top man for steals, assists and floor leadership (craft), and it's 2nd-best shooter from a % standpoint (surprisingly, that's craft, who shot 47.3% from the field. only amir williams' 59.8% fg shooting, mostly assisted dunks, was better on this year's team). some big holes to fill by scott, thompson, amir, loving, and a boatload of newcomers. mark scott tosu 81

Speaking of the B1G's evil plans, I heard this morning that the per school share of BTN's revenue is estimated to top $44M by 2017. That is crazy.
