UF went 2-0 on the home weekend beating Ole Miss and Mississippi State:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators presented their three seniors flowers during a prematch ceremony and the trio each gifted singles wins towards the team's 7-0 victory against No. 16 Mississippi State on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex.
The win was top-ranked Florida's final regular season home match, as the team plays its final two on the road and remains in contention for the Southeastern Conference championship.
Sunday's sweep helped Florida remain atop the SEC standings at 10-1 with Georgia and Vanderbilt.
Florida's only SEC loss was to Georgia, which lost to Vanderbilt, which lost to Kentucky. The Gators close their regular season next weekend at No. 11 Kentucky on Friday and at No. 7 Vanderbilt Sunday, before returning to Nashville for the SEC Tournament, April 19-23.
For just the third time this season and the second time in an SEC match, the Gators played out all matches instead of halting those in progress once the dual match winner had been determined. If those matches had been abandoned Sunday, it would have been a disappointment considering the exciting and terrific tennis that was played on the final three singles courts.
With two seniors – Kourtney Keegan and Belinda Woolcock – in the doubles lineup, the Gators began the match winning the doubles point for the 19th time this season and both Keegan and Woolcock were part of tandems that won its respective match.
Junior Josie Kuhlman was the first off the singles court, as she posted her third double-bagel win of the season to give UF a quick 2-0 lead. Kuhlman improved to 13-1 in dual matches, including 8-0 in league action, while winning her team-leading 28th overall singles match.
Junior Anna Danilina polished off Anastasia Rentouli, 6-4, 6-0, and the Gators led 3-0. The victory was Danilina's 25th of the season, as she sports a 7-1 record in SEC play.
Fittingly, a senior provided the clinching victory, as Woolcock downed No. 18 Jasmine Lee, 6-3, 6-1, in 70 minutes.
Because play continued, senior Spencer Liang was able to finish her match, earning a 6-2, 6-4 win for her first victory of the year in SEC play. Liang's been in the lineup several other times, however, rarely was able to finish since the dual match had been determined.
If play had been abandoned, fans would not have been able to witness the phenomenal second-set tiebreak on court two between Gator freshman Ingrid Neel and Bulldog rookie Lisa Marie Rioux. Neel cruised through the first set, before the second featured six breaks of serve, including the final three games where Neel needed to come through to force the tiebreak. The exciting breaker saw Neel fend off five set points before she capitalized on her third match point to take the 6-1, 7-6 (14-12) decision.
Keegan provided the finishing touches on the dual match, as she was the last match off with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory, breaking in the final game to secure the straight-set win and the 93rd- singles victory of her career.
Updated Records:
Florida 20-1, 10-1 SEC
Mississippi State 13-7, 6-6 SEC

UF lost shot at SEC championship at Vandy:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the Southeastern Conference regular-season title on the line, Florida head coach Roland Thornqvist was disappointed with his team's effort in a 4-2 loss at No. 5 Vanderbilt at Currey Tennis Center Sunday afternoon. The top-ranked Gators entered Sunday's final regular-season match tied with No. 2 Georgia and the Commodores with an 11-1 SEC record. The Bulldogs were still playing Texas A&M at the time of this release, so Vandy is either the SEC outright champion, or co-champion. Florida entered the match against Vanderbilt having won the doubles point in 20 of 22 matches, including in each of the last eight matches. The Commodores, however, snapped that run after earning wins on courts one and three. The teams then split first set winners on the six singles courts and that's all the Commodores would need, earning victories on the three courts where they captured the initial frame. Brooke Austin and Ingrid Neel provided straight-set singles victories for Florida. Postmatch with UF Head Coach Roland Thornqvist: "Vanderbilt played a championship-caliber match today. It was like a real SEC final and they played with better courage than we had in doubles. I thought they were stronger than we were in singles, also. "I told our players that I hope it really motivates us for next week (SEC Tournament) because for such a big match, it was disappointing that we couldn't raise our level better than this. I think all our players agreed. "I'm hoping that maybe this turns into a blessing in disguise so we have a little more of an edge to us in the postseason." Florida vs. Vanderbilt: The Series 54-Match Series: UF leads 48-6 (UF at home: 21-0; away: 14-4; neutral: 13-2) Last Meeting: UF won 4-2 in Gainesville, March 12, 2016 Last Vandy Win: 4-3 on May 17, 2015 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship; the Commodores went on to win the national title that season Gators at a Glance Florida had its eight-match win streak halted. The Gators lost the doubles point for just the third time this year. Streaking Along Brooke Austin won her 13th consecutive singles match Josie Kuhlman had her nine-match singles win streak snapped Belinda Woolcock had her six-match singles win streak snapped Doubles team of Anna Danilina and Ingrid Neel had their seven-match win streak snapped Doubles team of Josie Kuhlman and Belinda Woolcock had their 12-match win streak snapped

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the last two seasons, it seems when Florida has needed a clinching victory in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, it looked to Spencer Liang. The Gator senior was again called upon to provide heroics during Friday's battle against No. 20 Mississippi State and Liang came through as she helped Florida earn a tough 4-2 victory in the quarterfinal round held at the Currey Tennis Center on the campus of Vanderbilt University. What's Next for the Gators Florida will face No. 10-seeded and 12th-ranked Auburn in the semifinals on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT. The Tigers stunned No. 2-seed and fourth-ranked Georgia, 4-1, in their quarterfinal match on Friday.

UF 4 AU 2
The Gators will face the winner of the Vandy vs. USCe match in the SEC tourney final in Nashville on Sunday.
If it's Vandy, UF will be looking to win the SEC tourney championship and get revenge for the 4-2 loss at Vandy last weekend which gave the dores the non-shared SEC championship after the UGALY poodles lost at aTm.
If it's USCe, it'll be a rematch with the gamecocks whom the Gators beat 4-0 earlier in the season.

UF lost a thriller in the SEC tourney championship at Vandy. The Gators playing without one of their best players due to sickness was too much to overcome against a very good Vandy team that is now both the 2017 SEC and SEC tourney champion.
This is a very good Gators team that has been tested. I will only be surprised if UF doesn't advance to the Finals of the NCAA tourney:
Gators Drop Thriller to Vanderbilt in SEC Final
This was the sixth time in the 30-year history of the SEC Tournament that the final match went the distance
By Kathy Cafazzo | Sunday, April 23, 2017
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – When the Gators have won the doubles point this season it has led to a team victory. All 22 times. But not on Sunday with a title on the line in the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship match. Florida easily captured the doubles point against Vanderbilt with impressive wins on courts one and two, where No. 17 Anna Danilina and Ingrid Neel upset Vanderbilt's third-ranked pair of Emily Smith and Astra Sharma, 6-3, just before Kourtney Keegan and Brooke Austin topped Emma Kurtz and Sydney Campbell, 6-2. Top-seeded and second-ranked Vanderbilt, however, used its home court advantage and flipped the switch in singles action where they captured four victories and claimed the 4-3 win at the indoor Currey Tennis Center on the campus of Vanderbilt University Sunday afternoon. Despite the adversity of not having their complete lineup with junior Josie Kuhlman unavailable due to being up all night and time in a local hospital with a stomach illness, the Gators still had their chances in singles. Missed Opportunities Austin was receiving down 3-1 in the third and had double-break point, but couldn't get the final point she needed to inch closer, as Christina Rosca managed to hold and take a 5-1 lead. Austin broke right back en route to winning the next three games and was serving down 5-4 but wouldn't hold as Rosca won the three-setter, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 and tied the team scoring at 3-all and essentially the dual match, as UF's Spencer Liang was the only other match on court and she had just dropped her first set 6-0. Neel fought back after dropping her first set and won the second by breaking serve. In the third, she was serving up 3-1, but 11th-ranked Sydney Campbell broke and held to even the set at 3-all. Both competitors held in the next two games, before Campbell managed the big break in the ninth game for a 5-4 lead and served out for the 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win. After losing the first nine games of the match, Liang battled back to win five straight and was serving for the second set up 5-3. Fernanda Contreras halted Liang's run with a break, as she won four straight games to seal the Commodore win. Gator Down = Lineup Shuffle The Gators took the court for the final knowing that they would not be at full strength, as junior Josie Kuhlman was unavailable due to a stomach virus. Kuhlman played the No. 2 singles position and has won a team-best 29 overall singles matches, including a 14-3 record in singles dual matches. Her absence meant the entire Gator singles lineup shifted up one position and Spencer Liang entered the match at the number six spot. In doubles, Kuhlman played the entire season with Belinda Woolcock, mostly on court three. Peggy Porter, who had never played with Woolcock and had not played a doubles dual match all season was inserted into the lineup. SEC Tournament Final Coverage TV Coverage: While there was not live television coverage of the SEC Final, a one-hour SEC Women's Tennis Championship special will air on Sunday, April 30th from 12pm-1pm ET on SEC Network. Sam Gore and Gator Great Jill Craybas will provide commentary.

UF beat aTm to advance to the Elite Eight.
UF beat Ok St to advance to the Final Four against Vandy. tOSU and Stanford play in the other semifinal:
ATHENS, Ga. – Top-seeded Florida won the doubles point for the 25th time this season and earned a spot in the NCAA Championships Final Four for the 25th time in program history. The Gators carried that momentum of winning the initial team point and knocked off ninth-seeded Oklahoma State, 4-1, in the NCAA Quarterfinals played at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon. Sunday's match was the second time this season the two programs squared off, with Florida (27-3) capturing the 4-2 decision in Gainesville back on February 17. In that match, the Cowgirls won the doubles point and gave the Gators all they could handle in singles action. Both teams had changes in their lineup from the regular-season match up, but the one spot that remained the same was at No. 3 doubles, where the Gator's Josie Kuhlman and Belinda Woolcock reversed their earlier result against Katarina Adamovic and Viktoriya Lushkova – a 7-6 loss – and punched in a 6-4 victory for the clinching doubles-point decision. Florida returned to the singles court and won four first sets, with Brooke Austin, Kuhlman and Anna Danilina each closing out straight-set wins to send the Gators to the NCAA Semifinals for the first time since 2014. The Gator's path to the semifinal round has included wins against Massachusetts (4-0), Miami (4-1), Texas A&M (4-0) and Oklahoma State (4-1). What's Next for the Gators Who: #1 Seed Florida (27-3) vs. #4 Seed Vanderbilt (24-5) When: Monday, May 22 * 2 pm ET (TIME CHANGE!!!) Where: Dan Magill Tennis Complex * Athens, Ga. What: 2017 NCAA SEMIFINALS Note: Two of the Gator's three losses have been against Vanderbilt, most recently the 4-3 setback at the SEC Tournament final. The Commodores have won five of the last six meetings against the Gators.

The third time was the charm. UF beat Vandy 4-2 to advance to the national championship match against long-time nemesis Stanford. These matches against Stanford always seem to be close. For once, I hope the Gators stomp a mud hole in the cardinal:
ATHENS, Ga. – Florida avenged a pair of regular-season losses against Vanderbilt with Monday evening's 4-2 victory in the NCAA Championships semifinals played at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts.
The Gators will play Stanford for the national championship on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Cardinal defeated Ohio State, 4-3, in their semifinal match.
ESPNU will televise the match live, with Sam Gore, Patrick McEnroe and Renee Stubbs calling the action.

FLORIDA GATORS - 2017 WOMEN'S TENNIS NATIONAL CHAMPION
Florida beat nemesis Stanford 4-1 to win the 2017 women's tennis national championship. Stanford put up a good fight, but the Gator team was just too deep for the cardinal to overcome. UF freshman Ingrid Neal won the third set 6-2 over Stanford senior to put the match away. The other two courts were in close matches that could have gone either way when Neal ended the match:

ATHENS, Ga. — Florida, the nation’s top-ranked women’s tennis team for much of the season, proved it Tuesday by winning the NCAA Championship.
It is Florida’s seventh national championship in program history, and the Gators did it by defeating last year’s national champions, seventh seed Stanford, 4-1, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
“The whole team did a great job,” Florida coach Roland Thornqvist said. “We’ve been a no-panic team all year. We were ahead today, but still no panic. We’re a tough team and that’s how you win championships.”
Florida (29-3) quickly won the doubles point, with a 6-2 win by Anna Danilina-Ingrid Neel at No. 1 and Josie Kuhlman-Belinda Woolcock 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles, the Gators went up 2-0 when senior Kourtney Keegan cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 6. It was Keegan’s first double-zero win of the season and caps her NCAA dual match career with an 8-1 singles record.
Woolcock put UF up 3-0 with a commanding 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.
Stanford (25-3) cut its deficit to 3-1 by winning at No. 2, as Melissa Lord beat Kuhlman 6-4, 7-5.
Freshman Ingrid Neel rallied for a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 to to give the Gators their first national championship since 2012 with their second win over Stanford this season (4-1 on Feb. 19 in Gainesville)
Florida was playing in its 14th NCAA Finals, where it’s now 7-7 all-time, including 4-2 under Thornqvist. The Gators also won the NCAA Championship in 1992, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2011 and 2012.
En route to winning the 2016 national title, the program’s 18th, the Cardinal knocked the Gators out of the championships, 4-3, in the round of 16. Florida and Stanford have squared off in the NCAA Final nine times, the last coming in 2012 in Athens, where the Gators took the 4-3 thriller. The Cardinal lead those NCAA Finals meetings, 6-4.

Belinda Woolcock will play for the NCAA Single's National Championship today: ATHENS, Ga. – Gator senior Belinda Woolcock found a way to gut out a hard-fought three-set victory and earn a spot in the finals of the NCAA Singles Championships held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon. The Gator senior defeated Miami's 40th-ranked Estela Perez-Somarriba, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 in semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championships. Woolcock will play Michigan's No. 24th-ranked Brienne Minor on Monday at 11 a.m. Minor also needed three sets in her semifinals match, downing Vanderbilt's Sydney Campbell, 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-0. This will be the first ever meeting between Woolcock and Minor. EDIT: Woolcock lost 6-3 & 6-3. It was a good year for her. She did get a small runner up trophy out of it. ATHENS, Ga. – In the end, it was the wear and tear of playing a combined 14 singles and doubles matches over an 11-day span that finally caught up with Gator senior Belinda Woolcock, who dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Michigan's Brienne Minor in the NCAA Singles Championships Finals played at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Monday afternoon. Monday's Finals match was Woolcock's 11th consecutive day playing a singles match, overcoming rain delays, playing indoors and outside in the Georgia summer heat … and the overwhelming emotion of winning the NCAA Team Championships on Tuesday, May 23. Woolcock posted an astounding 11-1 record in those singles and doubles matches, with one singles and one doubles match unfinished because Florida had clinched the deciding point in the team event. Against Minor, Woolcock admitted she had 'nothing left in the tank' and it showed early as she quickly fell behind 4-0 to start the match. She finally got on the board with a break, but couldn't hold. Woolcock did win the next two games an inched closer at 5-3, but dropped her serve to end the first frame. Minor held to begin the second set and jumped out to leads of 3-1 and 4-2. Woolcock held at love for 3-4, but Minor won the final two games to secure the first women's tennis title in Michigan history.
