You should update your talking points. FSU and Miami came into national prominence 40 years ago, not 30. tOSU doesn't travel anywhere to play anybody as you bucknuts have claimed. Even if tOSU did, you'd need to schedule an FSU caliber program every year to keep up with UF which they do not do. Until tOSU schedules and plays top tier SEC and FSU, I'll not be impressed with the other hand culled programs tOSU identifies that they will beat along with the occasional OUs that they might beat. There's a Shania Twain song lyric that is appropriate, "that doesn't impress me much." The people that are full of shit here are you bucknuts. miami came into prominence 40 years ago? you mean like in '77? well did they did play tosu in columbus in the season opener my freshman year sept '77, so i could take your word for it as gospel that miami became prominent in a year the canes went 3-8, but i'd rather be truthful. did you mean '78? 6-5. '79? 5-6. miami got good in the 80s, and won a title in '83. 34 years ago. so you're wrong there. noles? they actually went 10-2 in '77, 11-1 in '79, 10-2 in '80, so unlike you i'll give you partial credit on that one. 45-23-3 over the next 6 years wasn't exactly elite... that's almost 4 losses/year. but in '87 fsu went 11-1 and truly landed on the top shelf to stay... 30 years ago. you were saying re talking points? you should update your playlist... shania's best days are behind her. lol. 1991 I'll concede Miami is since 1980, 37 years. Actually, a not so good Miami was respectable losing 10-0 in that 77 game in Columbus against a top 10 ranked bucknut team that finished ranked 10 and 11 in the polls. I will not concede FSU which I mark at 1977, 40 years, rather than their historic unmatched run that started in 1987. Bobby Bowden had FSU in back to back Orange Bowls against OU in the late 70s. You should know first hand as you were likely there in the early 80s when FSU came to Columbus and spanked your bucknuts twice. I have longer-term perspective on FSU gained from playing them every year as I think the nolies started their rise to national prominence in the 60s under Bill Peterson. Peterson had some very good teams. The 64 FSU squad was the first to beat UF and went on to beat OU in the Orange Bowl. FSU had a WR that season that went on to NFL fame and has a trophy named after him, Fred Biletnikoff. The problem for FSU is Peterson was followed by Darrell Mudra who was awful for 2 or 3 seasons which gave rise to the hiring of Bobby Bowden after he was burned in effigy and fired by West Virginia. Again, your 30 year national prominence talking point needs to be updated.

The 4th horseman has arrived. I've now gone from being called full of shit to pathetic asshole and I didn't even start this thread. (chuckle) Mike the Younger, I've made myself clear. Don't expect me to change my perception of tOSU until they schedule and play top tier SEC and FSU. Given the scheduling preferences in Columbus, that has as much of a chance of happening as a snowballs chance in hell. Tell ya what. Until Florida crosses the mason Dixon line. I feel they are the biggest pile of shit program in college football. The Florida gators are nothing but yeast infected pussys too afraid to leave the south. They are worthless piles of dog shit. Nothing more

Ok, riddle me this... if what this guy says is true, why haven't we scheduled games with Florida, Georgia and A&M? It's an honest question to your point that the author mentioned it taking two to tango not Jarmond. Either the guy is lying and that isn't their philosophy or there is another reason those games aren't on the schedule because we recruit heavily in those three states and our alumni base is quite large, especially in Texas and Florida. I am not trying to argue or be an ass but his statement seems to fall apart when you consider the three teams I just mentioned, doesn't it? we haven't scheduled the aggies, but there is the texas series in '05-'06 and the one on the books for '22-'23. osu and uga had an agreement but no contract to schedule a home/home for '20-'21, but when the big 10 and pac 12 agreed in '12 to start a series of ooc's between those 2 leagues, osu contact uga and said they needed to back out. florida? to be honest i think uf has little desire to invite any big time ooc programs outside the state to gain a greater foothold on recruiting exposure in florida. you know, takes two to tango? I forgot about the Georgia series and yes, I definitely remember the UT series as the home game was the last time I was in The Shoe (insert sad face here) but they aren't the SEC. As I said yesterday, I wish we could play them every year but my point was, either this guy is full of shit or the author's suggestion that there are other reasons why some of those games haven't been played holds a lot of weight. As for Florida, I would pay top dollar to sit my happy ass in the swamp to see the Buckeyes play the Gators. Heck, I want to go to a game there anyway but if it were to be Ohio State, that would be something for me. By the way, I am already working on another work trip to Seattle when we play there again. My boss thinks it's a little premature to try to schedule something that far in advance.

Nothing more I'm okay with that as UF unlike tOSU has never pretended to be more than a regional program. tOSU amended: "We'll go anywhere and play anybody so long as we feel we have a good chance to win and it isn't top tier SEC or FSU."

In the interim, wouldn't you agree Florida not being willing might play a part?

You guys would have to drive all the way to Athens from central and south Florida. As I said earlier, if Urban Meyer wanted a home and home with UF, I believe it can be arranged. Meyer still has connections in Gainesville that can make this happen. It won't be in back to back seasons like with OU, but several slots could be found in the early 2020s.

In the interim, wouldn't you agree Florida not being willing might play a part? No, not now that UF has decided to no longer schedule Miami as a home and home. UF vs. tOSU home and home can be arranged. It would help if Gene Smith, with Urban Meyer's assistance, would identify UF as a team they would like to play. If there is any SEC team that makes sense to play, it is UF.

Okay to moving on. Mike the Older, if you get a response from Gene Smith, let me know.

I will concede that Florida has at least dipped their toes in water with the Michigan game so maybe it could happen but they have a long way to go to prove they would actually be willing to do a home and home. Maybe with Foley now gone things change, which would be a good thing. If they do change and Ohio State is also a willing partner, that would be a great thing. Imagine the rating of an Urban Meyer return to Gainesville... holy smokes.

I remember that OU/FSU Gator Bowl game...OU had 3-4 players declared ineligible for signing pro contracts before the game. Biletnikoff and the FSU guys apparently did not sign before the game...instead, they negotiated their contracts while walking off the field and then signed under the goalposts. Miraculously, the team had enough time to type up the agreement in that same time span.
LOL...that's how it used to be done. You would see the picture in the paper the next morning of guys signing contracts.
