odd that a skin cancer spreads to the lungs, however melanoma can show up anywhere, and really has nothing to do with the sun. did they give a class of what cell is cancerous? Basil, Squamous, are the most general of the "skin cancers" Melanoma is listed as such also. Small cell, non-small cell are the two most common lung cancers. best advice i can give you at this point is to try to rebuild your own immune system that was supposed to keep these things in check. It wont do anything for the cancer, but may protect the other remaining cells from wanting to become cancerous. there are 5 steps of displaysa in a cell from normal to cancerous. NAC Reduced Glutathione Alpha Lipoic Acid Calcium -D- Glucarate you might even check with your onco, if there are any stage 1-2-3 trials with any of these included with the chemo if you wanna talk about the chemo and radiation parts of this, message me for my phone #, and a time of day that you may call (due to all the robo calls i get) been going through some type or other chemo/radiation for over 20 years now Squamous cell in the lung. They assumed it spread to the spine, but did not biopsy spine. Now they are not so sure. They are looking at the lung biopsy now for protein markers that would label the primary as skin and not lung. Don't know it that would be better or worse. I can't wait to hit my 20th anniversary of chemo/radiation. Onco-guy gave me 3 yrs, tops. Clay Helton needs to get his shit together, pronto. Squamous is treatable. at least more so than small or non-small lung cancer. small, or non-small once it has become metastatic is not much time, and usually only treatments are palliative in nature. But generally 3-6 moths is average. I see my oncologist monday about the photos taken friday . right hip quit working last light.

UPDATE 2 Met with Onco-guy, whose team was certain that this was smoking related since I checked"smoker" in the Qnaire, until I told him I never smoked other than a few cigars a week in the summer months. In addition, initial test showed it is not smoking related, and that has them spun out. He claims it is virtually unheard of for skin cancer to spread to the lungs. They've ordered new tests to figure out WTF it might be because it drives the chemo recipe. Meanwhile, I don't really GAS what it is, only that they beat the shit out of it ASAP. I meet radiation guy Weds to get busy shooting me up in the spine area that started all this shit. They don't know for sure what that growth is either now that the smoking thing that made sense before has now blown up, but as it is inoperable, radiation followed by chemo is the only way left to go. I was thinking of BaM today as I underwent a brain MRI to make sure it has not spread there. Really sorry to hear about this Walt. Hope they figure it out and hopefully catch it quick. You being an architect ,do you visit job sites regularly?. I know they have a big worry about concrete dust now. I was amazed at how much crap on a job site that can kill you and you would never know it.

I spent years in construction as a kid, and in later years was surprised to read about warning labels on stuff like mortar sand. "SAND?! Oh! NOW you tell me!" Add in 3 hours a day in a pool working out during smog alerts for a decade in the early 60s-70s and I guess maybe it all adds up 50 years later.

I don't know, and there is nothing stopping me from getting cancer of ANY kind. I think it's the luck of the draw.
My point was, if there is a known respiratory risk, everyone on the site, including visitors, should be wearing respiratory protection. In most plants, it's mandatory for visitors to put on hard hats and safety glasses as well as hearing protection in the noisy ones.

Yeah I had to deal with silica dust, structural silicone sealants, urethane structural sealants, plus all the solvents to clean and prep structures. No gloves ,no mask . Not to mention all the crap that you get exposed to from other trades. Been dealing with it for 40 years and now they want to get tougher about it.

Not the way it works now. Head , eye , and hearing protection, plus reflective or Hi-Vis clothing is the persons responsibility. Dust is the responsibility of who ever is making the dust. To make sure that it's contained and not air borne.

They have some wild contraptions to handle that stuff now. Of course they're all expensive as hell.

just got home from oncologist office..........stating 2 months. film showed the progress of the disease, but actually would need to run a bone scan to see how much is in my bones and joints. Keytruda is an option to attempt an extra couple of months, but the side effects are such that the extra time is spent in the hospital trying to slow, stop. the side effects. I have a liver disease, and one side effect is hepatitis, and other organ failure. wife and i will have some extended talks today/tomorrow but it's looking like i check out of here in a couple of months tops.
