Positive Karma to both Marc and Walt.
My wife is having her right breast removed when we return from a two week vaca, after finding a T1 cell. That'll match her left, which was done 7 yrs ago. Could have done a partial but she/we decided to be done w it. Good news is no chemo, radiation or post surgery meds. Biggest problem was setting up an appt w the reconstruction MD and coordinating w her doctor. The guy is busy, busy. good luck to you and especially to your wife.

Thanks, should be a clean and simple procedure. Though, because they will have to rebuild under the chest muscle, it'll take three months to stretch the muscle using water bladders. Cancer tends to settle on the muscle. Future tests will be easier. IOO, we were blessed.

After calibration and tattoo, I start 3 weeks of radiation sometime next week after a PET scan on Sunday...followed by Chemo. The bitch is that the radiation joint is up in Hollywood, which will require me to fight insufferable traffic into town every day. It's a tossup which I dread more, the radiation or the traffic. It will be the traffic. The radiation is pretty easy and simple. Good luck and best wishes for full success.

At the reconstruction meeting I half-jokingly asked if he'd tattoo a sunflower on each boob to replace the nip. Sadly, she laughed and said no.

She also did not need the chemo or radiation, which was wonderful news. Be careful, who does your reconstruction she was botched by a doctor here in Charlotte and another in Charleston before making her way to New Orleans to a top breast reconstruction specialist who straightened out the mess of the other two doctors. Dr. Trehan, I send him a Christmas card every year. 😊

They are still working on it AFAIK. When they found out I don't smoke, it spun them out a bit so they went back to the drawing board and ordered news tests on the biopsy. I will let you know when I find out.

I will let you know when I find out. small cell carcinoma is from smoking, or exposure to smoking......they (as i read this) said it's squamous cell carcinoma. Odd that they had "pre-conditions" in place to start your treatment and then find their "pre-conditions" weren't right. ya might consider coming to columbus for a period of time for your treatments.

Recovery, then mild discomfort as they do the stretching of the chest muscle over three months. No rad or chemo. No pills for 5 yrs, as she had to do when they took the right one seven yrs ago. If one has to have it done, this is the best outcome to hope for. Blessed.
