If our choices come down to between Jameis Winston and Braxton Miller, life can't be that bad in Tallahassee...

Is anybody really serious about Braxton picking up and moving his family out of state on college players pay? Unless FSU is paying a ship-load more money these days.

Unless Miller is guaranteed the starting quarterback job in Columbus, I would think he'd leave to go somewhere else that needs a quarterback. He's got one year to make his opportunity at the NFL come true, and that isn't going to happen if he sits the bench behind Barrett or Jones. Miller to FSU makes sense as Jimbo has a history of getting guys picked in the draft (although one can question how good they do when they get there), and he's pretty good with quarterbacks. It isn't outside the realm of possibility. But there's a reason Miller is looking for a place to go and play. Ohio State has younger guys on the bench who have clearly performed at a high level, and there simply might not be space for Braxton.

Unless he has resigned himself as not an NFL QB, but as a hi-bred back. One who has exceptional TB speed, or WR speed, and can throw from a moving pocket. AKA the throw back from the WR Spencer in the Sugar Bowl. I believe the one on OSU's team that might be looking for space on the OSU offense next fall is Jalin Marshall should Miller do as he claims, and that is play his senior year at OSU. Making book on next falls backfield line up at times as being Jones, Barrett, Miller, with Elliot or Miller being in the slot.

So Miller would be a gimmick? Seems unlikely that he could simply step in at RB or WR and take a starting spot from guys who have been at the position for several years.

No starting spot to take, but three positions to choose from. hmmmmmmmmm? It's not a "gimmick" if the offense is based around it. Just adds to the "read option"......don't it?

Again, so Miller, who has no college experience in playing wide receiver, is going to step in, and move into the regular rotation...and perhaps even snag a starting spot? I disagree that it is realistic to believe that, and if it does happen, I think it says more about where your WR corps is at rather than Miller. There is more to it than just jumpin' on the field and running a hitch, or a go, or a skinny post. Blocking assignments, knowing how to get off a DB jam, finding that soft spot in the zone....those things aren't picked up over a spring/fall. It takes many receivers several years to develop that understanding. Admittedly, Miller might have a bit of a head start due to his experience as a quarterback, but that doesn't mean he's ready to jump in and be effective. Even if they dial back his responsibilities to where he has 1 job to do on a particular play. If that equals 10 plays a game...isn't that the definition of "gimmick"? And on top of it all...all of this assumes he's willing to stop being a quarterback and go into another entirely different position and start from (relative) scratch. Or, he can go to another school that needs a quarterback, and play quarterback, where he's played the vast majority of his career.

If Braxton Miller stays at tOSU, he'll probably beat the other two out with his combo of talent and experience.

If Braxton Miller stays at tOSU, he'll probably beat the other two out with his combo of talent and experience. I'm not so sure about that. I don't see Miller as any more talented than Barrett or Jones, and his shoulder probably still has some significant questions. Experience-wise, he hasn't played in a year, and his career stats aren't so eye-popping as to give him the nod over Barrett. In fact, in 1 year as a starter, that isn't even a full year (he's been out the last 2 games), Barrett has thrown for more yards in this season than Miller has in any of his full seasons, completed at a better percentage while attempting more passes. He has 34 touchdowns this year, in 12 games. The most Miller has thrown for in a season is 24 TDs. Is Miller a better rusher? Probably. But in 2013, Miller rushed it 171 times for 1068 yards and 12 touchdowns. Barrett in 2014, rushed it 171 times for 938 yards and 11 touchdowns. That isn't significant enough (to me) to think that Miller is a shoe-in. If it came down to the two of them, if I were Meyer, I think I might stick with Barrett.

Again, so JT Barrett who had no college experience at starting QB comes in......Again, so Cardale Jones who had no College experience as starting QB comes in.....You really think Devon Smith had routes to run? I mean other than deep and fast. Miller runs a 4.3 40. So he gets 10 plays a game......how does that make it a "gimmick"? Devon Smith had 2 catches in the Sugar......I don't think run deep, run fast, is a gimmick play. Suppose Devon Smith gets looked at by the NFL? Braxton Miller will not be an NFL QB. He could however be a very dynamio hi-bred back, who can throw the ball, as I mentioned before. On another note......all the "speculation" about Winston over the last year or two........you are the last person I would have thought because some blog writer says Miller is interested in FSU.......would believe that tripe. You're sounding a bit "steaksauce-ish"here.

If it came down to the two of them, if I were Meyer, I think I might stick with Barrett. fwiw i do see miller as being more talented than both j.t. and cardale. here's why... 1. there is no 'probably' re miller being the better runner than the other two. hands down. much more versatile, incredible moves in the open field, and can turn broken plays into big plays. barrett really surprised me this year w/his production on the ground, and jones is a load to bring down. both have been very good. but not close to braxton, and that's magnified even more because... 2. miller never, in his 3 yrs as a starter, had the plethora of receiving options that j.t. and now cardale have had. not even close. in '11 no receiver had more than 14 catches. even for a team that was iffy offensively that is, uh, offensive. in '12 philly brown (60 rec) and devin smith (30) stepped up, but we still only had 2,100 yds passing as a team for the season (rushing for 2900+). last yr, braxton was hurt and missed 3 games but still threw for 2100 himself w/brown (63) and smith (44) improving their numbers, but in the big games they were physically challenged to fight for balls vs good teams. plus the team rushed for 4300 yards. our wr's/te's this year have performed the best of any group in the last decade. 3400+ passing. miller has been injury prone, and that's an issue. and as a qb, it's been a learning process being able to change speed/styles based what a pass play dictates. but he has a rocket arm, incredible escapability skills and still tremendous upside. no offense to barrett or jones, who both have been incredible, but i still think braxton would ultimately win a competition between the 3 next year should it work out that way. i know others feel differently.

Fair enough. I just don't see how you hold on to all 3. One of them will probably transfer. You only get Miller for 1 year at best. Who knows.
